Minisode: Predicting Puzzle Difficulty with the Golden State Puzzlers

At the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship, teams were required to select 2 out of 4 puzzles to complete, so being able to determine which puzzles would be faster for the team is very important. The Golden State Puzzlers discuss and practice this in this minisode.

I did this after watching the Worlds Team competition today. I might not have picked the correct ones! 😂

It surprised me how much better busy images (like the 50s puzzle) get on 1000 pieces compared to 500 pieces. I guess they miss one key difficulty: a large block of the same color. The flamingos look much more simple at first glance, but they have a lot of the same texture and color going on. On 500 pieces, I would guess there would be almost no difference between them, because sorting all these separate small sections is less of a help if they are only 3-10 pieces each.
