I'm so thankful to see you also don't like Welcome to the Dark Side. The age gap was already big enough that the author would have to be really skilled to pull off an equal relationship without making the love interest a predator. But it looks like she just gave up and said "nope, I'll just make him a predator" because that was easier.
I don't care how other people feel about this book, they can love it. As long as they're not delulu about the fact that the the love interest is a creep towards children and understand that the book they enjoy is creepy, then fine.
But if they genuinely believe this romance wasn't at all predatory they need to remove themselves from the dark romance genre for a while.
We read dark romance to see awful stuff, and to have people who say that those awful stuff aren't ACTUALLY awful is completely tone-deaf. It's almost like the fact that the awful stuff is awful is the whole point of the genre??? It's almost like the whole point of the genre is that we're self aware about what we're reading, and we shouldn't dare romanticize things like that in any setting other than fiction???

I totally agree with you on all the tropes in Lessons in Corruption being my least faves but loving the book despite all of that somehow. I read this series back in 2021 before I really got back into reading again and it became one of my faves instantly. Since then though I've read so many amazing books, so I wonder if they'd hold up to my original ratings, especially since I found myself agreeing with a lot of your points. LOOOOOVED this video though and I'd love to see you do more series in a week videos

totally agree with you that age gaps have to be done in a very specific way for them to be enjoyable! I didn’t vibe with sinner (sierra simone) for the same reason 😩 the mmc knowing the fmc while she’s way underage absolutely ruins it and I can never not see him as a total creep
I think the difference between Zeus' bond with LouLou VS Harleigh Rose and Lion's is that Zeus was attracted to Lou even with her underage. and Lion was but not in the same way. Lion truly loved her and cared for her as an older figure her life, almpst like a white knight always there to save her. i dont think Lion was a creep for loving her when she was 17. because he was truly the most geniune kind of love because it was built over decades of caring and saving her. As he always promised to be there for her no matter what. I truly do love Lion and H.R.'s bond one of the best IMO.

Yessss I only read Dead Man Walking and that book was everything so unique! Don’t ask why I skipped all the books but Priest and Bea 😍That plot and romance was 🤯🤯 And something about it just hit right! So happy you read it and loved it!!! The age gap wasn’t so bad in Dead Man Walking actually.!

I think you'd like Gianna's Anti-hero duet. The fallen men series is good but there are some very cringey over written things. But Anti-hero duet is top tier. There is no weird age gap or anything like that.
