onbe of the most beautiful songs ever written. I had a mentor in music - with so much natural blues skills - who happened to be a truck driver until his back problems forced him to give it up. He died at the age of 40 of a stroke in in the shower one early morning. I played this song on the church organ at his funeral. We used to perform this song as a duo. His death is now not quite 30 years ago. I cannot listen to this song without crying.
He must have known or spoke with a old school trucker. I don't mean the dude that delivers pepsi locally either. I mean a coast to coast old school outlaw who was on the level. This tune embodies what trucking was to me 28 yrs and 3 million miles ago. Those times and most of those drivers are long gone but damn... the memories of the characters I met, the things I have seen, and the adventures we had live forever. It was back when the only one watching you was God. Gimmie some weed, whites n wine n show me a sign bc Im still willin' to be movin. I saw Feat for the first time in 1978 at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. My brother in law had been a Feat Freak for years before, had turned my sister, and my brother on to them. After coming home from overseas, we all went, and it was absolutely amazing. The following year when he went on his solo tour, he was scheduled for five performances, and we had tickets for all five shows. But a week before, I got a call from my brother in law, telling me he had died of an overdose. We were all so devastated. When Feat got back together again, I’ve seen them about four or five times. And they were still good. But it has never been the same. For anyone who doesn’t know, or doesn’t get it, you’ll never know how good they were back then. Music just isn’t the same, and not near as good as it was in the 70’s.
@enriqueasabez4834 Thank you for sharing your experience! Though I beg to differ whether music is not the same, even though I understand that comment from my heart. There are still gems in later music, mainsteam or not. Keep well you & yours, best wishes from the NL.

I still have my Little Feat vinyl & jacket. Love this band. In fact, when my sons were young I taught them both to play guitar, and this was the 1st song we actually played together.
What a Musical Ledgen. What a loss.
