As a guy who's been to Tuscon ,Tucumcari ,Tehachapi and Tonopah ,I gotta say that this is the most authenitic interpretation of Lowell George's song that I have ever heard
Ole Jamey grew up pretty close to me . We use to play them in football every year . We use to whoop em every year , can't remember them ever beating us Red devils from little Las Vegas / sin city Alabama. If he reads this he will know exactly where that is .
Because it's so cool! Doing a Little Feat tune says something. If you never heard Little Feat, check out their Dixie Chicken, Feats Don't Fail Me Now & Sailin' Shoes albums right away! Little Feat is known as the favorite band of musicians.
As much as I like this (and I saw Little Feat with Lowell George do it live five times) I sure wish Mr. Johnson would write some more songs. His solo albums are so great.
I'm probably a biased Jamey Johnson fan, but I like this even better than the original. I think it's a combination of his once in a lifetime vocals and the slower rhythm and cadence. Gives it that Fred Eaglesmith "Trucker Speed" feel.
Yeah he nailed it. As an alto saxophonist that dabbled in other woodwinds, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to quickly transition from bari sax to flute embouchure wise.

so... I was on my way down to Bisbee one day... the road goes by Tombstone then jogs east through a tunnel.. but right where it turns east there's a small airstrip... and.. here comes a DC4... 4 big old engines and propellers.. no trees anywhere. . he was shaving the cactus 🌵... I love Arizona... still has that old fashioned entrepreneurialism that makes America great
Love this! Lowell George's Willin' and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Four Walls of Raiford" are Jamey Johnson's best covers, IMHO.

Sounds like a good road trip....✌️
Recently went to Tucson and Tucumcerie. Played this more than once. Love this version!
Yup
As a guy who’s been to none of them, I concur 😃
Lowell was the man, this is still his song, but if there was ever anyone born to cover this song you have just heard him. OUTSTANDING !
Greatest cover of the original. Little Feat was one of the most influential bands of all time.
Great performance from Jamey and this lineup, including Melonie Cannon. 👏🏼

I feel Lowell smilin'
For a Feats fan since 1975, my hometown boy done damn good on this rendition of Willin.'
One of the better covers of this 53 year old song...
Does it justice! RIP Lowell!
Jamey Johnson...wow! Leat Feat mastered this song and you rocked it. Wonderful.
Ok what can I say exactly at this moment, much respect Mr. Johnson you did it your way and took this classic to another place.
LIVING FUTURE LEGEND MR. JAMEY JOHNSON! THAT FLUTE IN THERE WAS GOOD TO HEAR AS IT WAS IN MTBs H.I.I.A.L.S.
Love this version! Wish jamey would cut the song and put it on one of his albums!
Splendid version in all ways!
I've never heard this version, I love it. :) It sounds really authentic.
Seen him about a month ago and he played this and I can't get enough of it he is one of the greatest performers to ever step behind the mike
Jonathan Allen Fact
Great version of this song. I had only heard this by Linda Ronstadt. Like them both!!
I was there...it was prob 102 degrees...but what a show! Have seen him 6 times since this show!

At 2:55 Jamey uses the line Lowell George sang live " I'm still in a whole Lotta trouble" ❤perfecto
Great rendition!
Thanks for posting.
Experience makes us who we are 🤗 Being the best we can be brings the most to other'✌️
Jamey - you're awesome! 💚
ARAs cover has long been my favorite. This maybe better. Wonderful rendition.
Good Gawd!! Man I bet Lowell is or was smiling down at THIS one for sure!!!!
Steppin' into Lowell George & Little Feat's shoes is no small deal! Good job, guys!
This sounds GREAT at 1.25 speed but looks kinda funny.

Outa of the 100’s of Truckin Tunes

Awesome thanks

Jamey is the kind of guy who could have been a truck driver. Lowell George was an art student singing about truck drivers.
So COOL!!! LOVE YA! JAMEY JOHNSON!!!
nice version
Nice version. Excellent vocal and arrangement. Quick work by the guy doubling on bari sax and flute! Pedal steel, tie die dress! What's not to like!
Yeah he nailed it. As an alto saxophonist that dabbled in other woodwinds, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to quickly transition from bari sax to flute embouchure wise.
this is a tune you can add everything to it and still Ide be willin...to do more..seems theres a billion versions..an all time great classic
Little Feat is God's favorite band. - Michael the Archangel

Pure awesomeness Jamey Johnson🎶🎸🎶✌💦🌜🎏⚓
The horns should have always been in this song.
So cool. Marshall Tucker esk . He has great influences......
Who is the woman back up singer? That is one of the prettiest woman I've ever seen!
Dude playing the flute looks like Ernie Boch Jr. (Boston dude)
At least 9 crazy people as of today who have access to UA-cam

Like Kris Kristofferson at his best.
This sucks! Lowell George is rolling over in his grave.
Kinda canned ans uninspired...
Great cover. I wanted to slow-dance.
