Really, really great work. Beautiful match for the knife!
Very nice work. They look great together.
nice..the only thing i was wondering about was...i forget the name but its a piece of leather that gets glued in between the leather sides then you stich thru all three thicknesses of leather.
I believe its so that you dont worry about cutting your stiches when drawing your knife.
Other than that its a nice looking sheath.
welt
@@teeeff5179 thank you..I do believe that is what it is called indeed.
Was kinda surprised you didn't add a welt to protect the threading. The artwork by hand is crazy good. No way I'm pulling that off.
That was so satisfying to watch
Your background music is awesome, perfect choose !
That is one badass looking knife and sheath. Way to go!
absolut masterpiece
Fabulous. Maybe slow down jyst a portion of the stitching, would love to see the full technique.
Podoba mi się 😉
Good looking sheath, the knife too of course, but any reason in particular you didn't include a welt? Anaco, Anz.
Buddy Hutchins just for views I guess
@@donpayne562 Okay........
@@buddyhutchins3782 I think what he means is, "just for YT and instagram." A pouch sheath like this, without a welt, is basically non-functional.
@@gregbrown3082 Fair enough Greg, thanks.
nice job dud
Awesome sheaths your making, what are you using on the edges, what is the black stuff and whats it for, thank you
There is a reason that leather sheathes are made of three layers at the knife edge side. Your knife will cut the stitching. otherwise, this is a good looking sheath.
I was curious about that myself
@@jessehart2746: Live and learn.
I always put a layer in between
@@artigane51: You have to protect the stitching from the blade edge, unless you don't plan to sharpen it.
Exactly...sharp knife will cut your stitches without it
Nice setup nice blade beautiful sheath nice
Nice Looking Sheath. I have a few questions though. Why didn't you put in anything to protect the stitching from the knife edge? Why didn't you burnish the leather? Why did you wait until after the assembly to carve and stain the leather? Just curious. Thanks for posting the build. Take Care.
exactly, it's like watching a video on the wrong/backwards way to make a sheath - no welt, no burnishing the edges, drilled the holes, no roughing the leather before glue, leather way too wet, etc etc. hey what do i know though right?
What is that black stuff you use on the leather? I would assume it's some kind of adhesive but there's another material you use that also seems to be adhesive, so I'm not sure. Is it a softener? A hardening agent to keep it in place?
Wet nice work.
What is the black stuff, what is the brown stuff and what glue do you use?
You are pretty awesome with that blade. (Leather working) I haven't ever seen one quite like it but you sure make it look like it's a blade I need! What is it?
Very Nice. Good woork.
No welt?
I love this.
very nice job!
Bagus aku suka kreatip skali.. .
What would i give to be a fly in your workshop.
Keep it up mate
VERY AAWSUUUM

Muito bom
Fine working an nice show
How do i purchase one of your knives??
Nothing to protect the seam from the blade?
There's no need for such protection, if you fashion the sheath correctly. Rivets in the sheath is largely a western fashion, and is done so the sheath can be sewn together flat, and with two pieces. Even sheath liners are not traditionally used, and, again, aren't needed, if you know how to make a sheath the right way. If you look at European sheaths, Puukko sheaths, and even South American sheaths, this isn't done.
Metal was scarce and expensive in most of these places, and the only liner they had was wood, so they had to learn how to make sheaths without the use of rivets or liners, though sheaths made of bark were also common. Now many people, probably most, prefer sheaths without rivets or liners.
I've been using a sheath must like the one in this video for more than thirty years, and haven't had any problem because it has no rivets or liners to protect the sheath from the knife.
I carried a sheath made of very soft, thin, doeskin for several years. The only thing it had to protect the stitches from the knife edge was a strip of equally soft, thin doeskin that covered the stitches on the inside of the sheath. Even after years of use, the knife never did cut through that very thin layer of doeskin.
And if you have a molded sheath, one that's wet formed to fit solidly around the knife, the edge of the blade is unlikely to come into contact with the stitches, even of you don't do anything else to prevent it.
where can i buy your knives? :o they are mesmerizing!
nice work bro
What may I ask is that black "paint"?
Joel Leat it's probably just "edge paint"
Super
how long do you keep that leather in water to make it bendy?
about 1 min
I watch these with my 4 year old who is fascinated with eh craftsmanship. He also asks," daddy, why don't you make knives?"
I notice you don't answer many or even a few questions put to you here. I'll ask anyhow on the chance you care how many subscribers you have. What exactly is the dye you use? Great video. Had to kill the volume because of the music
Hallo, what is it black material in 2:23 ? Thanks
Probably dye. It is common, to doing this before you install stuck the piece to the others. Later you can ruin other parts with the paint or wont be able to reach every corner what needs to be painted (and really looks bad, if the painting is patchy)
👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
