Yunnan is always colourful. Fertile red soil, colourful flowers, diverse ethnic costumes, evergreen trees and rippling lakes, and even the local vegetables are colourful. I made a trip to Bali Village, Lancang and picked up some lovely vegetables. In summer, my family members' appetites are generally not good. These colourful vegetables can whet their appetites. We invited some friends and had a table of colourful delicacies. Let's enjoy the gorgeous colours of summer together!

This place is beautiful in and out. So much natural surroundings with whole vegs and delicacies directly picked from the farm. No wonder they all look so young and lead a healthy life. This food is like a nector from heven for eternal wellness!

I’m envious of the fertile soil and mild weather of Yunnan, here in southern california it’s been difficult for me to try and grow a garden due to the heat and drought. I have never seen that many types of pumpkins all grown in the same place like that before! And the purple cauliflower is so beautiful! And that yellow watermelon at the end looks so delicious! Maybe I shouldn't watch these videos when I'm hungry😂😂

在一開頭的南瓜品種，很大一部分在台灣稱為玩具南瓜，因為個頭太小但是外觀好看，所以通常被拿來當裝飾品使用，至於花椰菜其實在台灣十多年前就有了，但是當時由於種種原因導致產量不大，像是紫色花菜就我知道就分兩個大品系，一個是紫皮，也就是花蕊頂端是紫色的，這也是當年我家種植過的品種，但是在烹飪時卻有極大的缺點，這是因為紫色花椰菜中的紫色來源於花青素，而這種物質卻是水溶性的，也就是如果在烹飪時採用炒水的話，會使花青素溶於熱水中導致退色成綠色，這也是當時不管是網路還是新聞都說這種紫色花椰菜是為了噱頭而進行後續染色的，從而造成很大傷害，而正確做法是過油就能保持顏色，另一種品系叫紫骨，也就是連花莖都是紫色，雖然沒有種植過，但是有種植過的前輩表示，這種紫骨品系的由於花青素在內部組織裡，所以不像紫皮品系那樣不能炒水，而且就算炒水也不會退色的太嚴重，再來就是寶塔花椰菜，在台灣有很多稱呼但是都來自他的外觀，向是寶塔、鑽石、釋迦等等，清炒的話口感偏硬，只能多煮一會，煮湯煮過久又會軟爛

This reminds me of summer at my grandfather's farm. He grew most of these same vegetables, strangely enough, halfway across the world. There were a couple cultivars of summer squash I hadn't seen before here, and I haven't seen that variety of watermelon either. It's so interesting to see what someone with a different culinary tradition does with the same ingredients! Thanks for sharing! 😁👍

It's so interesting to see what you call melons the decorative small ones we call gourds. They are dried out and used for decorating here. Hard and shiny the seeds inside are loose like instruments!
Haha, the word is gua in Chinese but it refers to more than just melons. We have the same in English... melons are gourds...
