You are a blessed man Grant. To me there is nothing better than my wife and I spending a day working around our place to make it better.
LOL fires up on the 15th pull, every time.
Laura, I love your cute little giggle you sound like a little girl you really are precious Grant you are a lucky man to have that precious girl in your life
A sharp chain on an electric or petrol chainsaw is key to good operation and safe operation. When it’s blunt you can run into all sorts of issues and dangers to yourself. Be safe!
Chain saw safety basics on UA-cam. Worth a look.
As far as chainsaws go we have a couple gas ones we use often, my wife got an electric chain saw for Christmas last year! She says every woman that lives on an acreage or farm should have one. And I probably use it as much as she does! Super super handy, highly recommend for light work!
merry Christmas to laura farms and I can't wait for planting season.
Hope you and Grant had a wonderful day today! Big 3!!😊🎉
I liked Pepper going around and supervising.
Excited to see all the homestead projects to come! Good that you have such a good supervisor in Pepper!😂
One of my best purchases ever was my Husqvarna 20” bar chain saw.
Nebraska definitely needs trees! Lots of trees and flowers to feed the bees. 🐝
Chains on chainsaws tend to get dull when you run them against metal pipes, which we could hear and even see sparks.
Chainsaw should cut wood not pipe rocks or dirt they do get dull quicker 😊👍you don’t know how much stuff you have until you start to clean it up 😂
Some fruit trees that grow good in that in area, apples or pears. Trees grow very wide. Trees soak up the summer heat.
get a pto woodchipper or a skid steer forestry attachment. as for trees ... consider Norway Spruce or Dawn Redwoods. buy them wholesale by the 100 count; use a tractor auger to plant. if you soil is alkaline, consider hazelnuts inoculated with truffle spores
a hedgerow wind break, what a marvelous idea! Only slightly sarcastic, coming from old restoration method training circa 1930s. NRCS resources.
Soooo cool to see such a friendly panther!😂
Thank you so much and everybody good morning
Welcome back to the Farm. Hope you both enjoyed the trip, learned about the Large farms there. Do you have any snakes there? A cleanup is good, area will look much better and you can recycle all those metal items. I have heard that the best chain saw, prefered by farmers, is the Husqvarna Rancher Chainsaw. Always wear and use Chainsaw safety items, the limb you might save could be Yours!
I love my little Milwaukee trim saw too Laura.
And I also just bought their trim saw on a pole, with hedge cutting head.
Look out bushes, here I come.
I miss the daily harvest videos!!
Also love the practicality! “Lots of useable pallets” 🙂
Merry Christmas to you, Grant, Gage and your families. 🎄
Can’t wait to see what 2024 brings. Take care!
Good Morning Sunshine!! ☀️
Please do more videos like this but longer if you can Please God bless yall
I’d love to fool around on those bobcats. Fun.
12/16/23 - Welcome back so sorry to hear of your Grandfathers passing! Merry Christmas from Charleston,SC PS: Laura , you are not supposed to cut Metal straps with a chain Saw!!! Will ruin the chain!!
You really look like your mom! You should thank her. Love what you and Grant do!❤️🦅♥️✝️🇺🇸
Just noticed, you hit 500k! Congrats 🎈
Ideas for videos;
1.)Love opening boxes for Christmas!
2.) Laura pole vaulting before she gets to old and feeble!
3.)Laura playing guitar before she gets too old and feeble!
4.) More vacation videos before Laura gets too practical and mature!
5.)More tractor mystery solving!
6.) More Tik Tok dance videos, they are silly and adorable!
7.) Merry Chistmas to the Wilson and Carlson Fams! ❤❤❤
the irrigation pipes you cleaned up look exactly like the ones we used for irrigating citrus groves in Florida
it is called a pruning saw ,2 different sizes 6 in and 8 in
My favorite chainsaw is my Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20”. It has a decompression button for easy starting. I’ve used Poulan, Stihl, and Homelite. The old Homelite with manual oil button was a real brute, but they don’t build them like that anymore. Our Stihl has a tool-less cowl release and tensioner, but the on-off switch is very fragile. The Poulan was good for a while, but became a bear to start.
Yeah
Good to see that smile back.
Pepper what a keen helper and mouser.
Sounds expensive, but build it buy trailers for the junk to sit on. We had a RR tie trailer, a scrap metal trailer. A barbed wire trailer etc. We had axels from former farm machinery that we used pallet wood to make a flat bed with. The idea is u can hook up to them to move 10 feet this way or that way to mow, take to a neighbors ranch for them to use, or add to, or take metal to town to scrap. Very versatile when on wheels. Something u might want to consider. We even had our fuel tanks on wheels to work both as fuel storage and fuel trailer.
Hi ! 👋 to Pepper!
Good job on your
Homestead!! One step
at a time.. it's going to be awesome!! Interested the planting of " barrier " trees ..look to evergreens..deciduous trees ," bare " up ,during the winter..No Wind block..maybe an occasional one..every so often..but a "hedge row" of evergreens will work well!! As to a break in cost,Grant, the forestry co-op office/ ctr ,in your area maybe able,or willing to ( provide) the trees...n you plant them..just a thought to look at!!??
Good Holidays to all
N a safe n happy new
year!!
👍🦊🎅🐺👍
Learning so much! Thanks for sharing!😊
Great to see you guys!! Hope things are going well?!
Looks good! 😊
Happy 3rd anniversary to you both! A couple days early!
Nothing beats the golden sunsets of the plains states! Love the videos 📹
Consider obtaining a battery powered pole chain saw. This will help you remove the higher branches. The one I have is nine feet. It has an optional two-foot extension section for an eleven-foot reach. If possible, find one that uses the same battery as your Milwaukee chain saw. That way, depending on the job you are doing, you will have an extra charged battery available . Say hi to Pepper and Merry Christmas to you and your families.
Milwaukee has a M18 trimmer/bypass cutter/pole saw system. 2825-20ST, 49-16-2719, and 49-16-2720. 3' extension is 49-16-2721. Cause it's M, it's not cheap (duh), but works well.
I agree, especially if you extend it to the full length.@@tmwk15
You made the 500,000. Mark congratulations! 🎉
Hi Laura! It was good seening you and Grant again. You got a lot accomplished at the homestead. Pepper made me laugh when she walked up with that look like "Hey, I'm a farm cat. What the heck are we doing here?" Wishing you and Grant a very Merry Christmas as you gather to honor and celebrate His birth. Have a blessed New Year. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
I have the large Milwaukee chainsaw, absolutely love it. But when you were using the chainsaw on branches and small brushy tree's, I was wondering where your large loppers were, they would have been safer, and probably quicker.
My 2 bits are usually ignored. : loping sheers can attack small branch’s and twigs. Chainsaws are for wood, any touch of metal on a running saw is as bad as a rock. It’s file time. Nice video
I’m glad you’re back.
Happy Holidays to you and your family (Pepper included)
One word.
Hearing Protection!
Love Pepper!!
Wow, so many things scattered around the farm, an energy source that I like and firewood
The electric small tools are great because they always work , simple. Occasionally use great!
Cheers Warren
Happy 500k, good day to celebrate.
Got a Milwaukee cordless Sawzall a few months ago, Love it. Cuts through everything! I use it on trees around the house all the time.
Fruit and nut trees will feed you. Berry bushes and grape vines are also good on a farmer's homestead.
I have this little tiny battery chain saw that is for cutting branches, but always my first choice because you don't have the hassle of a gas chain saw. Love it!
Pepper is a tree cat. Like a Norwegian forest cat. They live in trees.
A good pair of pruning loppers will also work wonders on that small; up to an inch or so.
You are a great girl Laura! You and Grant are a great match!
Yes! I think we all have gotten spoiled with the daily harvest videos. I look every day for a new video so I was happy to find that you made this one. Merry Christmas to everyone.
A good pair of loping pruners do much better for stuff up to an inch or so, also battery sawzall with pruning blade does wonders.
Wishing Grant, Laura and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year !!! GOD bless you, your families and all the work you do!!!
Please do more videos like this but longer if you can please. God bless y’all
Laura and Grant, please never underestimate the power and dangers of a chainsaw whether electric or gas powered. I’ve been around tree workers for a long time, my son is a professional tree worker and accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Always use eye and ear protection, wear a helmet not only to protect you for falling wood but also for kickbacks injuries (short bars have more violent kickbacks than larger ones normally) and wear saw pants.
Love your channel!
I like that you remind of the security regulations. I always remember them when I use my own two chainsaws for doing similar work.
that treeline will close of the yard nicely in a couple of years
I absolutely love watching the videos. I listen/watch while I’m working at a desk. I live in a small farming town in upstate New York nest Vermont and a lot of stuff makes sense now. Thank you sharing these videos.
Can't wait to see you at the off road games.
You Guy's Work So Good Together 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry for ur loss Laura
Pepper was probably smelling Laura's favorite critters of the rodent variety.
Thanks for sharing your afternoon. Looked like a nice ending.
There seem to be a lot of cleaning/tidying up to do, Laura, your chainsaw chain need either replacing or sharpening.
Happy Christmas to you both, and your families. Love from Mike. ❤
Love your videos as they are very relaxing to watch.
I agree with the previous viewer that you should always use eye protection when using a chainsaw. Further, If you strike the blade on any metal, for example the pipe, it will instantly make it blunt.
Love from Australia.
those timeline updates really bring us in the picture. thanks.
you two are great to watch, thanks for sharing.
would LOVE to paint you both an oil painting of your homestead in that beautiful Nebraska sunset. Try to get hold of me.
Grant says his PullOn Pro cranks on 15th pull every time...funny stuff!
I'm following your logic, Laura. Keep up the great work videos. Merry Christmas to you and your families.
Laura is the best
I’m sorry about your grandpa, merry Christmas to you and grant
I’m looking forward to seeing you at the off-road games.
My wife is 62yrs. old and 5ft short and a small framed lady. 2 years ago she went out and bought herself a Stihl chainsaw 18 inch. She will NOT no one else use that saw but her. Once she starts cutting logs down for firewood you best stay out her way... LOL... Only time she stops is when she runs out of gas then it's my job to fill with gas and chain oil and sharpen the chain.
While I do that she's splitting logs on HER 23 ton log splitter. Once she starts no one can get her to stop until she's done or the sun goes down... As for me I'm disabled out there with my walker or wheelchair. So I do what I can, sometimes it's just running the controls on the log splitter while she puts the logs on. At least we're doing it together. We split around 10 cords ever fall and use most of it by spring. It's cold up here in Wisconsin... Much love... BBE..
Clean up is great. It's yours...
She said pepper sends kisses😊
I love how Grant is always looking for something that is cheap!!! I'm the same way and it makes me laugh every time he says something in one of the videos.
Bought a Milwaukee cordless chain saw this summer, just like the one Laura was using. It's been great, perfect for pruning and trimming.
Happy Anniversary in a couple of day and my birthday.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You can get trees through the NRD. They will even plant them for you.
Growing up in ventura-santa barbara counties california above Los Angeles there were many large fields with long long lines of trees, i used to like having my picture taken by them
Hi Laura & Grant Thanks for the video I enjoy watching your videos Laura .
Wind breaks are a must where you guys live. We even have them in this part of Alabama.
The small electric saws are great for climbing and trimming where you need to carry it on a lanyard and use one handed.
I’m so glad you got that big smile back. ❤
Thanks for the video. Glad you’re home safe.
You need to look into the dewalt pruning sheers...This thing is awesome and with one pull of the trigger it will go through 1" branches!! I love mine!!
Yes, they do work very well. Just watch your fingers...
All I could think. So much faster.
Pepper missed you while on your vacation trip. She still loves you😊
Happy Anniversary...
Have the best Holidays! 🌲🎅🤶
Thanks for the video. Happy anniversary and merry Christmas. We love you.
Merry Christmas to you God Bless
Every proper farm has a scrap area:)
I have a John Deere chain saw gas model that I have had for over 15 years and I love it
"adorable" is not a word that has ever come to mind when discussing chain saws.
