The Titan nerf rocket system would be a good platform to modify like this. it does need to be pumped but it has a trigger(and a pressure gauge) and a much bigger rocket. the main issue would be finding titan rockets, you can get custom made ones since the original nerf ones are going to be old and expensive since they're limited.

OH MY GOD I had one of these as a kid.
You could use thin, cheap pool noodles sold at the 99 cent store on the top of it, and as long as you glued the end shut it would launch them. The air storage tank is also expandable.

It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position that it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and if follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it know where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

I just wish The Nerf hobby space is covered more by mainstream engineering Channels like yourself, as well as The Hacksmith and Mark Rober who have both made Nerf related content. The remote activated, self-contained ones would actually be really cool for trap set-ups. Hook the remote to a tripwire (physical or laser) and leave the missiles strategically placed to launch where you want (maybe hidden in make-shit barrels, like soda cans or pvp pipes) to help guide them and conceal their presence

I like the magnet idea. What you could do, is use the original launcher (and put the magnet on the launcher instead of the rocket) since you said it's hard to stabilize the rocket without the launcher. Since you're using a launcher, you could also add a trigger to it that activates the rocket. This also gets rid of the short radio distance, since both parts would be *in the launcher*

Would a plastic tube insert with the firing mechanism at the head or mid way be an improvement? Here’s my idea: let two metal contacts stick out of the missile, which act as capacitor chargers. They are always connected to a power source as long as long as the missile is in the launch tube. As soon as the missile gets ejected, the capacitor starts to discharge and sets off the propellant.
    Good luck!

have the circuit activated by pulling a string out of the bottom of the projectile, then tie the string to the launcher. once the projectile gets 5 or whatever arming distance, it pulls the string right out of the bottom and activates the rocket. no wireless doodads, no switches, no need to break the seal off the foam.

I don't know of many small ones that can repeatedly handle almost a short across them though. If you know of a small cheap one (below $10) that can repeatedly handle like 200 amps at 12v for 100ms pulse then I think it would be possible.
The other issue with this particular design is if trying to embed it into the foam rocket, you probably have low voltage (and therefore even higher current) required. Mosfets typically can't handle huge spikes quite as much as mechanical, they just burn up really fast, but I'm not an electrical engineer, my only experience is burning up a decent amount of transistors...

You could combined the remote launcher with an air pressure system they blasts the nerf rocket and once the rocket is in the air then you could hit the remote button and the rocket will fly a bit more straight but you have to find a way to arm it without a magnet so the rocket doesn't have the extra wait on one side

A missile is guided, a rocket is unguided. Btw your content is great keep it up i actually want to see a self guided nerf missile- maybe impossible who knows

The TOW rocket system uses an actual wire to send commands, so that is an option or you could just go the way of the javelin and have it be fire and forget- harder on you and more work on the actual missile bit it is possible with some time.
