Great video. I’m a BSc Physics undergrad & I was given identical advice! There isn’t a ‘best’ university, only the best university for you. I really appreciate the advice about checking what research the university is currently undertaking, STEM is a broad church and we’re all interested in different things....btw although I’m studying physics now I did want to be a marine biologist when I was younger and am still interested in the subject (which is why I found your channel) 💜👩🏻🔬
I recently got accepted into the University of Southern Mississippi, there I hope to study marine biology I heard they had a good program... It's just a little scary because I live in Michigan currently so I'm going to be away from home. But I feel like it's the right decision to make in order for me to grow. Go to Australia and then work in an aquarium or a reaserch facility. My ideas for my PhD are: A) Importance of kelp forests B) Different defence mechanisms in species C) Factors that affect the speed of animals Thank you for explaining this career, since people onky show the part of traveling and swimming
talked to some people for Nova Southerneasten University (NSU) and University of Tampa Florida (UT) yesterday. they are right by the coast. UT actually just invested 1milion dollars on a research vessel for students to use to venture out for reasearch. i talked to a lot of people about marine biology courses in colleges yesterday, but these two are the ones that really stood out to me. Camosun college comes in close third though 😉
So I go to UC Santa Cruz for Marine Biology, I’ve been feeling really insecure about my passion because I’m scared I won’t have anywhere to practice after school

Hi! I recommend that you try to watch shark videos and learn as much as you can about them now (even though it’s scary). I wanted to be a marine biologist in 5th grade but I ditched it because I was scared of sharks. Over several years I worked on combatting my fear of sharks since I still loved the ocean so much. Because of all that I learned about sharks I now adore them and I find them so fascinating and beautiful. I am more dedicated to marine biology than ever and because I learned about sharks I turned my fear into love! But if you don’t want to look at a bunch of sharks I totally understand, and I don’t think marine bio is dangerous 😁

That is true, at least for microbial oceanography and bio-geochemistry I know it is really good. I know some people who worked there actually.
