Most refs played football at some point in their lives. You don't just start refereeing as a teenager with 0 experience with the game, usually from playing in youth competition.
One of the biggest issues in this game is the player’s mentality. Diving and hand-balling anything to win is just downright unsportsmanlike, especially when it causes such huge controversy like knocking out a team from a tournament. With such big consequences on the line you’d think the players would be as honest as possible, so they can expect the same from their opposition, but no!
When sterling dived he ran past another ball, and the rules say that if another ball is seen to be a distraction in the game, or being too close, the game must be stopped and the ball has to be removed. The referee missed 2 mistakes, that ended in Englands win over denmark
Even the commentators didn't say anything about the ball, so it wasn't a distraction to the game. It isn't too close either. Also go cry about it, you should consider yourself lucky that your keeper was absolutely OP or else it wouldn't have gone to ET
@@JuperLuperBruh you are an England fan who says this to Denmark fans and then probably goes and complains about how ref didn’t give chiellini a red card in the final
@@mouldypotato5147 I know but it was a last minute goal which Germany were tired for probably going for a winning goal and so might not have happened but from whay I've seen England were the better team anyway
Most of these are because the refs had no way to see the goal or foul pre-VAR. There's only 2 sets of eyes on a side of the field at a time, there's gonna be mistakes. A striker could miss 10 shots in a game and still have a good game, but if a ref misses one call, they get death threats. An error by a player is expected. An error by a ref is "controversial".
Ajax-Chelsea. Ajax stood 4-1 against Chelsea. The ref gave 2 unreasonable (later confirmed by UEFA) red cards in one action. With 2 players adventage Chelsea put the gam around
@@ItzRafaelGames England's fourth goal was literally the last kick of the match. If the third goal (the one that didn't cross the line) hadn't been given, W Germany would surely not have left themselves so exposed at the back in the dying seconds of the game, being on the cusp of losing and so desperate to get an equalizer. This should be obvious to anyone who isn't blinded by massive bias in favour of England.
Well as a Reading fan, there was a game that I remember from December 2020. It was Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading. Sheffield Wednesday scored early on, then Reading scored not too long after in the first half. Then Wednesday got a red card. But the controversial part was when we had I believe 5 penalty shouts, all of which seemed like definite penalties. How many were actually given as a penalty? None. The game finished 1-1, and it's still the most frustrating game I've ever watched as a Reading fan, and there have been a lot. Forgot to mention England vs Denmark, someone among the English fans tried to blind the Danish keeper with a green lazer. The fact that England won that game, is so wrong. Luckily Italy made sure they didn't "bring home anything".
To be fair (I'm from USA) John O'Brien punched the ball against Mexico but it wasn't seen by the referee. Obviously no way to assume the PK would be converted either way.
You forgot England’s first extra time goal in the 1966 final. No surprise there lol. Then again, you could’ve made the whole video about the 2010 World Cup refereeing. people seems to forget the first game between barca and chelsea. the ref was bad there too, but in that game it was in favor of chelsea.... but the chelsea fans just remember the 2nd match
Its not Sterling diving, its poor refereeing. Danny Makkelie is the worst referee ever, he made multiple controversial decisions in Barcelona 2-0 Juventus and Juventus 3-0 Barcelona, especially Italy 3-0 Turkey.
I agree, and if people say the penalty isn’t deserved, there was another ball in the game, right where sterling ran by, and as a referee, you have to stop the game, and remove the ball
If one player stopped bc of the ball then it wouldn’t of been a pen but not a single player got distracted from the ball (the play has continued) and English got a pen bc of Olympic diver.
Winners don't complain as much cause it doesn't matter to them. But if both teams were equally victims of poor refereeing, obviously the losers will suggest it's a robbery while ignoring their own foul play and advantages. Chelsea should have received 3 red cards during that tie, not one was given.
Some of these included clips where the refs basically had to guess the right decision, due to lack of consistent technology to determine this. Undeserved hate towards some referees.
I see your point, but take the Henry handball for example. Why would the Irish players start running at the ref and claiming a handball? If Henry hadn't handled it they just would've sat there defeated. These refs need to realise these players don't do this stuff for no reason
@@Jaminho397 If they were to accept that kind of behaviour as evidence, each team would do so with rvery time they concede an important goal.. @@Jaminho397 That is absolutely untrue. As a referee and a player, the team that conceded regularly complains about something to justify being scored on. I swear refs don’t know how it feels to be robbed from a ref
Most refs played football at some point in their lives. You don't just start refereeing as a teenager with 0 experience with the game, usually from playing in youth competition.
@@nelsonroy4157 With recent referee and VAR decisions you'd be forgiven for thinking they didn't know what they were doing.
4:20 Man thats heartbreaking
One of the biggest issues in this game is the player’s mentality. Diving and hand-balling anything to win is just downright unsportsmanlike, especially when it causes such huge controversy like knocking out a team from a tournament. With such big consequences on the line you’d think the players would be as honest as possible, so they can expect the same from their opposition, but no!
When sterling dived he ran past another ball, and the rules say that if another ball is seen to be a distraction in the game, or being too close, the game must be stopped and the ball has to be removed. The referee missed 2 mistakes, that ended in Englands win over denmark
@H I and ur a mistake to humanity
Even the commentators didn't say anything about the ball, so it wasn't a distraction to the game. It isn't too close either. Also go cry about it, you should consider yourself lucky that your keeper was absolutely OP or else it wouldn't have gone to ET
@@JuperLuperBruh you are an England fan who says this to Denmark fans and then probably goes and complains about how ref didn’t give chiellini a red card in the final

Thanks for the visit
Most of these are because the refs had no way to see the goal or foul pre-VAR. There's only 2 sets of eyes on a side of the field at a time, there's gonna be mistakes. A striker could miss 10 shots in a game and still have a good game, but if a ref misses one call, they get death threats. An error by a player is expected. An error by a ref is "controversial".
Great vid really enjoyed that

Well as a Reading fan, there was a game that I remember from December 2020. It was Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading. Sheffield Wednesday scored early on, then Reading scored not too long after in the first half. Then Wednesday got a red card. But the controversial part was when we had I believe 5 penalty shouts, all of which seemed like definite penalties. How many were actually given as a penalty? None. Germany's uncalled handball on the goal line denying a US goal in the 2002 World Cup.

To be fair (I'm from USA) John O'Brien punched the ball against Mexico but it wasn't seen by the referee. Obviously no way to assume the PK would be converted either way.
You forgot England’s first extra time goal in the 1966 final. No surprise there lol.

When ur moving at that speed and get clipped that’s enough to make you fall over

There's also been countless other mass appeals by players for a handball while it was not (See Llorente's goal against city in 2018/2019 UCL), so that would always be a gamble.
@@Jaminho397 That is absolutely untrue. As a referee and a player, the team that conceded regularly complains about something to justify being scored on.
