The Ford maverick was too small and tight compared to others cars like the Chevy Opala and Dodge Dart, also it had a fame of being slower than the rivals and overheating. The sales were weak and the Maverick was discontinued in 1979 when it's rival continued in production until 1992.
@@MaverickFor44 The ford maverick It just became to be popular in the early 2000's. Today you need to afford lots of money to buy one in good conditions ( Around BRL: 180.000).
This is amazing! I'm a Brazilian gearhead and had never Heard about this Muahmmad Ali involvement
Do el "Torino" argentinian legendary car. Competed on the 24hs of Lemans
As a Brazilian I fell honored to have a episode on wheelhouse dedicated to our automotive history. Please make an episode on Gurgel, this dude was a visionary! Thanks dudes!
“To understand how this all started, we have to go back to the birth of Jesus”
Great to see Brazil getting love from Donut Media! I'm Brazilian and didn't even know about that story (Puma cars were great though). The at 5:08 was called Wariant btw! And Al Fasse sounds like Alface, which translates to Lettuce :P
God i love when people try to pronounce words in Portuguese 😂
Im so glad for this episode. Im Brazilian born in the 80s and i didn´t knew all the details, specialy the M. Ali part. Thanks a lot.

As a Brazilian so glad to hear a history about Brazilian automakers on one of my favorite channel
As a Brazilian, I must say that... I’m laughing so hard of the Al Fassi name because, in portuguese, the name sounds like “lettuce” (alface)! LOL
Also, it’s so nice watching one of my fav YT channels talking about my country! Love u, guys!
Amazing videos you guys from Donut!
Nice piece of history about the Brazilian automobile industry!
As a 17 year old Brazilian i really like It!
WELCOME TO BRAZIL
3:10 Just a correction, the engine showed on the image isn't the DKW engine used in the Malzonis. It's the VW one. Brazil loves you, Donut! Thanks a lot for made a video of the Puma.
Do a b2b on pre-war straight 8 engines.
@donutmedia as a Brazilian, I really enjoyed this history of one of our humble domestic manufacturers. But in the end of this video was an information error: the company based in south africa, despite havign past relationship with Brazilian puma, is totally diferent of our brand and have nothing to do with puma's rebirth efforts here in Brazil. They have got the rights to produce old puma models, like puma GT and GTS, but have nothing to do with the development of the new GT LUMIMARI model, not even with the new Brazilian Brand itself. But I have to congratulate you guys for this entire video. Your researches about our begining in automotive industry, our most famous sports car manufacturer and How It all ended was very very accurate. Congratulations guys! No Wonder you are one of the(If not THE) most influential automotive channels in the world. With the greetings of a brazilian car enthusiast! Thank you Very much!!!
Float like a Cadillac and sting like a beemer
lol nice
@Hamza Mansoor I thought it was Lightning
@Hamza Mansoor and you call yourself a fan 😂
Brasil had many crazy cars back then. Miura, Bianco, Gurgel (they made an electric car in the 80's). Puma also had one model with a chevy six cylinder engine. Great to see part of our automotive history here.
I love how he tries to pronounce our company names n shit and it's just, hilarious ( if you know portuguese )
Com certeza foi hilário ahsuahusbsus
"Arua Caruiá"
saou palou em ves de são paulo o que diseste e verdade
FURRY
Love how you guys do history videos about cars! I love anything history!
Rest In Peace, the greatest boxer in history.
Gurgel! And Lobini too, those are awesooome. Loved seeing some brazilian stories around here.
Fun fact: just like the Puma, the latest Renault Twingo also switched from an FF to RR (RMR) layout
I'm brazilian, and I'm very happy to see a part of the history of my country in donut media. This video is fantastic.
Tip: say A-Raul-ca-ri-a (read this letter by letter)
For some reason and saw that he “Foght” a car company. Instead of “bought” and I was confused and then got really disappointed not seeing him in the ring with a car.... like in Street fighter level.
That is one awesome video.
Thanks dude, loved it!
And as a Brazilian car enthusiast, i can say this is not very know nowadays, as this cars are getting rarer and more expensive with the years. To this day you can still buy a puma fiberglass full body kit in Brazil and mount on some vw chassi...cheap and fun ftw
Mohammed Al Fassi part was pretty wild, i'd pay to see a movie about his eccentric life
Hey guys! Never thought my favorite channel would ever talk about Puma!
And thats just the tip of the iceberg... Brazil had a number of specialty automakers back in the 60s all through the 90s, mostly due to banning imports. Models like the Gurgel Carajás ("car-uh-jazz") and its curious "diff locking" mechanism: a handbrake lever to each rear wheel!
There was even a talking car, the Miura X8! AND WITH POPpopPOPpopPOP UP N DOWN HEADLIGHTS!
Yesss 🎉🎉🎉.Now we need a up to speed of Gurgel Motores.🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Very glad to see DONUT making a video about pumas! Thank you for the great story! I would never imagine that!
Viewers, always remember to smash the like button so they can do a face reveal of the Founder of Donut Media 😳
Couldn't you just Google it?
Mr. Media
@@SirBroccolingtonIII all I found on Google was Guy Fawkes masks
if we reach 15 likes we'll have a nolan face reveal
Great video! as a brazillian that love Puma's history i really apreciate bring it to light once again!!!
one thing tho, there some imagens that are misplaced saing Puma GT when it its acctualy a GTE, and also the Car was not only produced with the kharman ghia chasis, but also with the old beetle and even Brasilia (a old WW car made in BR), there are a few models not informed(but shown) like GTO 1 and 2 with a awesome inline 6 from GM...
but still, Nice Video!!! i really loved it!
VAI BRASIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PRIMEIRO O NAUTICO VENCE! AGORA O PUMA NO DONUT
E 13 MEMO
I’m a Brazilian and actually learned more from this video than years of being a car enthusiast
