I recently made this but with glacial acetic acid instead of acetyl chloride. Your method seems way better since it avoids the equilibrium issue but I don't have the nerve to work with acetyl chloride or anhydride! Seems like you still get a good enough yield with GAA if using a strong acid catalyst. Cool to see your method though!
Glacial acetic acid + conc. sulfuric acid catalyst is a good method to acetylate many alcohols or amines. Just that it takes much longer than using the chloride or anhydride, and it requires heat.
What will be the formula if acetic acid is used? no burette, do I need a burette if I use acetic acid? If the burette is mandatory, what should be my alternative?
It is indeed! I decided to go for the route in the video though because the boiling point of this compound is really high and I didn’t want to distill. Also this Route is quicker. But if you don’t have access to acetyl chloride the basic ester reaction will be the way to go.

Acetyl Chloride ?? Neat! Had to go the sciencemadness for that one hahaha
Great job, with a little addition of HCA and Linalol you can make it Jasmin
That sounds like a neat aroma.
Hello sir. Can i use the same proces, but instead of acetyl chloride, can i use glacial acetic acid?
Interesante la técnica , gracias , el acetato de bencilo lo usamos para fabricar el aroma a jazmín y aromas frutales .
Cool video. What an absurdly long stem on that sep funnel. I'd break that so fast.
I wondered why that thing was so long too while buying it.
Lol😂

Are you making perfume?
@@ScribblebytesWorldwide Yes, I want to make perfume, I want to use burette-free acetic acid in it.
@@ScribblebytesWorldwideHow can I do it
Why are you making this?
Don't make the stuff if you live near a bee farm. It's used to attract bees.
Hello !
Great video !
I was wondering, what are the best ways to improve the yield for that reaction ? I am trying to get the best reaction !
Thanks !
The best way is not to clean it with water but via distillation
@@THYZOID Thanks ! I will try
@@THYZOID Water washing is a good pre-cleaning for distillation I think
The smell of Benzyl acetate similar to Phenylacetone(P2P)
Hi I want some video about aroma chemicals
cool and nice
Is it possible to make the ester during a basic ester-reaction (benzylalcohol, acetic acid and catalyst)?

Yep, glacial acetic acid will work. Acetic
Anhydride will too
Darf man fragen woher du solch seltene Reagenzien wie Acetylchlorid herbekommst? :D
Gerne:
shop.es-drei.de/chloride/1299/acetylchlorid-min.-98?number=S1000391
Kann jeder kaufen. Dafür gibt es keinerlei Beschränkungen :D
@@THYZOID Super, danke! Gutes Video übrigens.
Danke :D
Erster 🙈
