- TAHLEQUAH - Cherokee artist Danny McCarter of Tahlequah is a blowgun and blowgun dart maker. His knowledge of blowgun making and the history of its use was handed down to him by his brother Rob and Scott Rackliffe in the 1980s at the Ancient Village at the Cherokee Heritage Center. He worked there as a villager and learned how to make the blowguns using river cane for the gun and a wooden shaft and thistle for the dart. He said a skilled shooter using an 8- to 10-foot-long blowgun can hit a target 45 feet away. Cherokee people once used blowguns to hunt smaller game like birds, squirrels and rabbits.
Over the years, i learn that the design of the dart is very important.
😍😍😍😍😍 Love the shot with those thistle darts. I straighten my pvc pipe like that too, but without heating.
That's funny
The only thing that would have made this better is if you demonstrated how the blow gun was made start to Finnish. I still enjoyed watching.
This is awesome
River Cane was everywhere when I was a kid. For some reason it's all gone in my old age. I now know only of two small patches in two separate counties.

How do you get one
Good information. The blow gun is still a survival tool. You can still feed people with a blow gun.
