Hi guys, when you visited Newcastle did you realise you were only approx 7 miles away from George Washington’s ancestral home? It is located in Washington Tyne and Wear. You should visit next time you’re here
Although born in Putney, my parents were living in Richmond-upon-Thames at the time, in a flat in the Art Deco Hillbrow apartments on Friars Stile Road, up on Richmond Hill. For the first two years of my life (of which, I only have the sketchiest of memories now), I grew up in the area where Ted Lasso lived in the TV series. It was only a 10-minute walk downhill to Richmond Green from the Hillbrow flat, which is the open grassy park across from The Princes Head pub (ie "The Crown & Anchor", in the Ted Lasso TV series). All these years later, I can still clearly recall being taken many times to the Green as a small child, where I could play to my heart's content. Shortly after I turned two, we moved away from Richmond and to a town located 30 miles deep in the surrounding countryside. But Richmond was (and still is) lovely, and the many fond memories of the area, that were constantly evoked by the TV show, still give the 'warm-and-fuzzies' even now.
Always love watching your videos and great to have a recap of your highlights. As a proud Brit I am so glad you have so much love for our cultures, arts, landscapes and more… Can’t wait for you to visit again
No way, didn't know you tracked your ancestry to dartmoor. Shame you didn't find your ancestral home but i'm very happy to call you a fellow devonian.
Oh neat! Yeah, I have Scottish and English ancestry from both of my parents and was able to trace ancestors from a village in Devon called Walkhampton on my dad's side, but still working on tracing the rest.

there's one place you can definitely stay in a proper castle - Star Castle in the Scilly Isles. I stayed in one of the turret rooms but there is a big choice in accomodation. The food they do is first class, with a five course meal in the evenings that changes every day depending on what local produce has come in, not a bad price either. Definitely worth at least a weeks stay as there is so much to do.....The castle was founded at the end of the 16th century, with a major re-build in the mid 18th century

@@TheMagicGeekdom I am debating between train or car at the moment. A car seems more economical since there will be three of us. Parking is another thing altogether. Lol
Try the national express coach or the mega bus to travel across Britain, it's much cheaper and more reliable than the train, the train service outside of London can be troublesome at times . I live in Norwich, Norfolk in the UK, I travelled from Norwich to victoria bus station in London to Edinburgh in Scotland for £30 ..... Some hostels you can find for £20/40 a night , For a cheap meal, you can go to most supermarkets ( Tesco, Asda etc ) and get a meal deal for £3 or £4 , it includes a sandwich or wrap of choice, a drink and a packet of crisps or chocolate bar .
You could set up base somewhere and do day trips to other nearby cities. I wouldn't recommend more than one city per day though, and I would recommend not switching hotels too often because each time you do it you basically waste a day.
Very enjoyable recap video. A good mix of touristy stuff and other sights. Glad you qualified that pot noodle and Frey bentos was good compared to similar American foods. I'm Scottish and I've not yet been tempted to try a deep fried mars bar (I'd like to live a little longer than the average Scot)

Next time try going to the Scottish Highlands, you like movies so if you aim for Fort William you can ride the steam train over the viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films. If you wan a challenge you can climb Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain

Some hostels you can find for £20/40 a night ,
For a cheap meal, you can go to most supermarkets ( Tesco, Asda etc ) and get a meal deal for £3 or £4 , it includes a sandwich or wrap of choice, a drink and a packet of crisps or chocolate bar .
You could set up base somewhere and do day trips to other nearby cities. I wouldn't recommend more than one city per day though, and I would recommend not switching hotels too often because each time you do it you basically waste a day.
fish and chips with curry sauce is nirvana
well as a Yorkshire fella I think you've seen more of England than me, well I don't think I know lol
Next time in chippy; try batterd sausage, chips & curry sauce. Yummy 😊
Thank you! Lol. I'm glad we tried a deep-fried Mars bar, but I don't think it's something we need to experience again. 😆
Thanks for the repeat, forgot what was in the video from the first time, or was it Deja Vu.
Omg, I was wondering when Greggs would pop up 😢 their sausage rolls are rank! If you really must have a sausage roll, buy them from a deli shop. Or nip into Tesco, and treat yourselves to their Finest sausage rolls (lovely buttery pastry and fabulous meaty filling).
Hey guys try Richmond in North Yorkshire ….. stunning
Thanks for the suggestion!
Lovely video, I'm amazed how you packed so much in. 🙂
Thank you! We did accomplish a lot, but at the time, we didn't know if we would visit again or when, so we wanted to see as much as possible.
Next time try going to the Scottish Highlands, you like movies so if you aim for Fort William you can ride the steam train over the viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films. If you wan a challenge you can climb Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain
Great stuff - luv the whole presentation- I live here but still luved it.
Thank you! ❤
Any plans to come back to visit ? x
Cream on first then Jam , This is the Way.
Have you guys ever been to Northern Ireland? Belfast, Giants Causeway, worth a visit.
We are planning to visit NI on our next trip. Planning to take a little road trip and have Belfast and Giants Causeway on the list. Please let us know if you have any other suggestions!
When you say you saw big Ben, you know it's a bell don't you cause you pointed the camera at the clock .I'm chuffed you got down to Cornwall and try the famous pasty as they say down here bloody ansome in um. I'm not Cornish but lived here misy of my life and live here by choice and not an accident of birth. If you come again you want to try some old towns in Shropshire like Shrewsbury you will fall in love with the buildings .Glad you enjoyed your selves
Noticed while we were editing, that we called it Big Ben. 😆 Shropshire is on our list, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to make it there on the next trip. Would love any recommendations in Shropshire you can give us. Thanks for watching!
@@TheMagicGeekdom
Shropshire is beautiful and well off the tourist beaten track especially over the west side in the Welsh border area. The Long Mynd area is great, traditional small market towns hills and sheep!
@@TheMagicGeekdom I would really like to give you ideas on where to go in Shropshire but I haven't lived up there for over 50 years things have changed Telford a place to stay away from it's one complete housing estate Ironbridge the very first Iron Bridge ever built in the world that's a little village right on the River but really I would stay to the smaller towns and basically you'll see the best countryside you might even see a few castles well fortified houses good luck
Glasgow is fantastic.
Also I think you also need to come to BLACKPOOL and Lytham St Anne’s!
Not sure if we'll have time for Lytham St Anne’s, but Blackpool is on the agenda for our next trip. 😀
@@TheMagicGeekdomLytham St Anne’s is only next door!
Sorry to tell you this but that is not the original Ziggy Stardust phone box. The original was a completely different model with different windows...it was still there when I worked around the corner back in the 80s but was removed at some point and replaced with the version that is now there.
Our music tour guide told us it probably wasn't the same, but it's in the same spot, so it counts for us. 😆
@@TheMagicGeekdom Glad the guides are now telling people that. Next time you are in London I can take you to some Bowie locations even the guides don't know about.🙂
Next time you are back in London, try to meet up with Hannah Rickets, she does UA-cam London vlogs
Awesome video Guys
Thanks for the suggestion!
You’ve seen more of the uk than I have and I live here lol
Blimey you packed a lot into that first month - especially as you spent the first week in London.
We do have a wide variety of experiences for such a small island - and sometimes it takes visitors to point that out.
By the way you are totally wrong about Pork Scratchings- but I won't hold it against you!😂
Lol I'm always willing to try them again. Maybe after our extended travels in GB, I might acquire a taste for them. 😂
Would like to say “Thanks” to both of you. You both pronounced Edinburgh the correct way. It’s so frustrating to hear Edinburgh pronounced the wrong way by your fellow travellers.
I lived there for 51 years but you have probably seen more of the iconic locations than me! Those film / TV locations would mean nothing to me although I would like to visit Goathland, where they filmed Heartbeat.
It wasn't until putting this video together that I realized how many movie and tv locations we went to on our first trip, because we also saw Trainspotting locations in Scotland. 😆
Hi. I started watching back when you were trying UK snacks.
Implored you to go beyond London. Was so pleased when you did.
I'm from Yorkshire and it was great to see you escape London.
Don't get me wrong, London's great but there's so much more to see.
Love the videos. You do them so well.
👍
Thank you so much and thank you for encouraging us to go beyond London! Yorkshire is top tier and it's a shame anyone would miss it.
I once had to explain the difference between Chips and “chippy chips” 😂😂 to my American cousin and
they were very confused.
Lol we did a lot of planning and research before our first trip, but I did not realize a chippy was called a chippy until after we got there. 😆
Come back soon! /love
We just booked flights and I can confirm that we will be back very soon!
did you go aboard HMS Belfast?
Have you been to north wales ?🏴
Planned to spend a few days exploring North Wales last summer, but we both got sick and ended up only seeing Llandudno. Hopefully when we come back next spring, we'll visit again. Let us know if you have any recommendations.
@@TheMagicGeekdom Go to Llithfaen on the Lleyn Peninsula. Tiny hamlet on the beach with wonderful views of mountains. There is a pub right on the beach. 🙂🙂🙂
Too many gorgeous places in Wales to mention but we have stunning hills, mountains and beaches along with masses of amazing castles.
Off the beaten path and little known spot : Highgate cemetery LOL
Highgate cemetery is worth a visit, don't understand LOL?
I think it is relative to other London sights where tourists are concerned.
Maybe not little known, but most American tourists don't make it there.
I didnt realise you cant touch Stonehenge anymore
You can. You just need to take the Premium access inner circle tour. Or ofcourse during the Summer or Winter solstice
Not with regular admission, but we were told they do special VIP tours. It's otherwise roped off.
@@wildwine6400this is the way. Go on the solstice. It’s free and you get right ip there and touch the stones. Just tell them you are a Druid.
Has the sound been speeded up, or is it how Americans naturally speak?
That is not the Ziggy Stardust phone box the windows are different
It's in the same location, so it counts for me. 😆
When you say fillay do you mean fillet?
Yes, I guess in the US, we've borrowed the French pronunciation.
Jeremys hair on the train. 😂 Does your VPN allow you to watch BBC iPlayer and other UK catchup channels in the US? 😁
Yes, we've been trying to watch UK shows here and there while we can.
@@TheMagicGeekdomDetectorists (worth it )
You forget to visit Wales
Come back!
We'll be back soon!
Do the Scottish islands! They will blow you away. Coll and Tiree are stunning, and very few tourists. Come back soon! ❤
We'd love to see more of Scotland. We'll be back in November, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to pull off the Scottish islands then.
@@TheMagicGeekdom Save the Scottish islands for May, June and July. The weather can be very rough there. 😀
