And one more... Does this apply to "between scenes/acts" as well as within scenes? Or is between scenes/acts the "Meanwhile, back at the ranch..." transition? I did a little googleoscopy 🙂

If scenes transition directly from one to another along the same storyline (where the beats of that story follow), then yes it would apply. If a scene is transitioning us from one storyline to another (A plot to B plot, for instance), then this would not necessarily apply. Does that help clarify?

Fascinating tips! Is there a rule-of-thumb for "Therefore/But" in terms the sequencing? For example, is it always a Therefore/But followed by another Therefore/But etc.? I don't think there would be a string of Therefore's (no But's) or But's (no Therefore's) from beginning to end, but what do I know? Thanks.

Good question! There's no set number of either word that needs to be used, and they definitely don't need to be used in alternating pairs. Everything can be "therefore"s with a few "but"s thrown in - as long as there are no "and then"s
