What a lovely video. So nice to see the puppy being so kindly, empathetically and calmly clipped. ( I have just watched a utube video of a different groomer, who was impatient and rough with dogs, which I found very upsetting). Your video is inspirational and proves that being clipped can be a very positive experience with a kind and patient groomer. Thank you 🙂
I think this is the best poodle grooming video I have seen. I love that you didn’t leave a poof on the top of his head and I love his brows. Do u by chance have a video tutorial on how to achieve that look of his head?
Be careful not to give them clipper burn going backwards from the ear to the eye, it can happen easily. For a pet dog you can just do a backwards 10 on the snout (starting at the corner of the mouth and going all around) and then just use the 10 as usual on the rest of the face and neck. On the feet you should use a 30 blade so as to not get skin caught between the teeth. When you grab the paw, run your thumb and forefinger up the sides until you find their "ankles" -theyre little bumbs, you cant miss em. Shave backwards up the foot using the ankles as the guide dots, then between the toes and around the pad. To get all the little hairs around the nails you just run a finger over them to pull them up and clip.
Check the blade every 30 seconds, check more often if you are in a matted area. Put the back of the blade on the back of your hand, if it is hot, turn it off and spray the coolant and wait for it to get cool again.
If my old phone was charged I'd upload a picture of what happened to my 4.5-month-old standard poodle puppy after her first professional grooming. I came home from work to find that she had scratched and bit herself all over and had bloody patches on her body and razor burn on her face! She was walked a total of three times per day so don't blame it on separation anxiety. I rushed her to the vet and she was admitted for a day. The vet said that she had developed a staph infection and she was sent home with prescription shampoo and medication for the staff. Thenceforth she was only bathed in unscented hypoallergenic shampoo and her face was shave in the direction of the fur growth, not against it.
This video might be helpful to most people BUT ( you’re not a professional groomer) their are many risk especially grooming a puppy The way you shaved his muzzle was a big red flag 🚩, if you didn’t see the mistake… a tension Wrinkle can always rise into the blade and clip the skin very badly! You did better then most people but know this ( you have to stretch the lose skin and go against the grain) also around the eyes the lid of the eye can also get caught into the blade , around the tail; be careful around the anus! My best advice !

Wow nice, thanks for the advice.
My boy looks just like him❤️
You didn't mention which blade size you use. How often do you spray off the blade with the coolant, etc!?! Please advise ASAP. Thank you.

10 UltraEdge AG 1.5mm Andis
What color is he? Cream? He is gorgeous! Great job!
yes, he is cream. Thank you
How do you keep from nicking him with the clippers?
pull the skin towards the opposite direction, as you are clipping, to prevent folds and use an appropriate blade
Hey I got the notification
