  • After seeing so many videos from La Grange, Kentucky and CSX's street running on Main Street there, I decided to go down and check out the action.
    I'd originally planned on going down over Memorial Day weekend, but the weather forecast down there had called for thunderstorms. I decided to go down on Sunday, July 2nd since I had the following Monday off for the Fourth of July. Only down side to that is that train traffic was slowed for the holiday.
    While I did see some trains, it wasn't the number that I'd hoped for. But the video of the trip turned out great, and the pictures, which I've included with the video, make up for it.

Sou do Brasil. Abraços.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤🇧🇷

    We have wondered many times what LaGrange looked like near the tracks. You have answered our curiosity in a big way! First time we have ever saw so many auto cars being pulled at one time! Double thumbs up to you for the great views. Many thanks. 👌👌

      Nice of the building owner to allow installation of the cameras. Who? We should thank him/her.

    Thanks for posting these clips. it has given me a great insight to the size of these rolling stock cars. Ours here in New Zealand are not that big.

      It was a fun trip down there. I'm hoping to get back again, hopefully seeing more trains than before.

    Hello, dear friend, my name is Gilberto, I am a fan of seeing the images, generated by the live camera that is at that intersection, I usually go in every day to see a little bit, I think everything is very beautiful, the train, passing in the middle of an avenue. However, I always wanted to see what I had besides the live camera .... and your video solved my will and my curiosity, thank you very much. Big hug, I'm from Brazil.

    Hello from England. I have seen a number of videos of this town and the street running. This one shows me how different the place looks on a public holiday. This is still busier that any street in our area at the moment now that the UK is on lockdown due to the Coronavirus.

    Wow, what a small world. On 4/14/14, CSX train Q-004 detoured down the NYS&W (New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway) due to track work on its normal route. That is hundreds of miles away. That train was led by CSXT #513, the lead unit you see parked at 6:55. That unit has the most beautiful horn I think I've ever heard on any engine in my life. Link to video: ua-cam.com/video/9PbZLfDy-hw/v-deo.html (fast forward to 1:30 to see the train).

      That's an interesting crossing/intersection. Nice video!

      Thanks. The crossing bisects 5 roads in on shot; all meeting at one point. Traffic light pre-empted, to keep traffic at bay.

    Interesting seeing Quiet Zone crossings with no mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* and gates.

    • @chatanugadotorg
      @chatanugadotorg  6 років тому +1

      The two intersections that have lights and gates are spooky to watch. People hit the gas to beat the gates down, forgetting that the two intersections are also 4-way stops. Sometimes get some close calls of people trying to clear the tracks and getting stopped by people flying into the intersection without stopping. Of course, on the live cams, you occasionally see a cop at the intersections hitting their lights and going after the people running the gates and stop signs.

    • @robertgift
      @robertgift 6 років тому

      There is no need for mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* . We mustop anyway and look right and left.
      I'd prefer the crosstreet, which is the busy street, have only the *(o)T(o)* and no STOP signs.
      As an Operation Lifesaver presenter, years ago I suggested a sawtooth pattern on the underside of gates.
      The harmless *vvvvvvvvvv* may discourage drivers risking crossing under the descending gates.

      Yeah, La Grange might not have the volume of traffic like I see at my usual railfanning locations, but it's neat getting to see trains easing their way down the middle of the street like that.

      Nice bike! I've thought about getting a motorcycle. But I can't afford it at the moment, and where I live, I have no place to park it except outside, which I'd prefer not doing.

      Yep. Not just for the weather, but a couple years ago, a neighbor of mine a few doors down from me had a nice bike parked out in front of his townhouse. Not long after he got it, somebody came by overnight and stole a bunch of parts off it.
