Everyone in the comments is talking about his newer music, but “Settle down”, “My mother’s eyes”, “Cause it hurts”, “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” and some others released about 3 years ago. He was dropped from Atlantic Records in 2016 and they took ownership of all his finished songs (which means he no longer has the rights too.) His newer stuff is good, but older stuff comes from the more emotional places of his soul. We now need a part 2.

if you were to make a part 2 for Alec Benjamin, I would recommend listening to theses songs:
Annabelles Homework - because it’s very descriptive like how 1994 is.
Mind is a Prison - because it’s a newer song and it’s very personal to him and it has a lot of symbolism
If I Killed Someone For You - it’s very metaphorical and his vocal range gets pretty high.
Swim - just because it’s a great song and it sounds kinda different to the rest of his songs.

I got to say I like the higher range in his voice too. Our school choir has literally no guy singing anywhere near alto now because they don't have that range. I'm shook lol. I love the descriptive element to it. His songs feel a bit less like poems and more like stories.

Alec was born in Arizona, hence "Just a kid on Cholla Street, from my city built in the sand. He now resides in California, I think nearby Santa Monica.
I honestly love his music I've been listening since he first started and his story on how he made it is honestly admirable. He faced some hardships.

"If you're leaving baby let me down slowly" With the video this hits really hard. It's like from the kids point of view. Instead of getting let down slowly and his mom telling him what was going on next thing he knew- she was gone to jail. "I can't stop myself from falling down."
This is just my interpretation please DO NOT attack me. This song in my mind can be taken from several points of view along the lyrics. This just jumped out at me. If you know for sure the true meaning I'd really like to know or simply your personal take on it.
