Or worse, it's Friday and they burned out the ODL to 60, so now we are sending them home with pay. If management sent all CCAs & PT/Fs to us on Sundays, then we'd have proper mandating, provided we had a 8:30am - 9:00pm work day. We have four reserves. No help is sent from the City until we are down 12 routes out of 45. All the while, we are told to watch our office time, (while people double case), watch our street time (while they mandate twenty-five or so carriers to carry one to three extra hours), and be back by 7:00pm after starting at 8:30am. Fight back? Yeah. That's where we're at. It isn't us. The union is pushing for a return to the National Contract. Management has lost their minds. ODL carriers are pissed at us for telling them not to work past 12/60. Management has the right to mismanage, but we have a right to make carriers whole when management throws the contract out. BTW - we can strike. We just have to prove that we are working in unfair working conditions. Here's the language from the NLRA, Section 7: Unfair labor practice strikers defined. We have more TTOs than runs. We have PTFs/regulars unassigned. The supervisors are asking regulars if they want to use their leave time to make work for these ptfs/regulars unassigned. I heard a rumor this week that they may be considering 4/10 hr work weeks to make work for these Ptf/unassigned regulars.
To adds....APWU....sent out a working environment SURVEY. It came in my mailbox over the weekend...mannnn what 🥴🥴🥴🫤. I was confused. So I'm thinking that's also why they focused on that on that YT video 🤷♀️
You are so right. There is no proper hiring selection. Everybody has a family member or the entire family working within the same building and even worse within the same pay location. This is causing a lot of problems. These new employees have already been trained by their family members to not work, and this is very sad because we are here for the public. If we don't provide a good service, they won't be using us anymore.
Good day Mr. J. Wanted to share with you my experience thus far. Been working as a clerk for almost two years now. I am a veteran and willing to work hard. Well that’s the problem I’ve seem to have. Me working hard and pushing the mail has caused the other clerks to put their hands in their pockets and watch me work. The more you take on, the more they will give you…until all the extra work will become expected. So if you see something that needs to be done, but it’s not part of your job or the Supervisor didn’t tell you to do it…please don’t do it. Because if you do, they’ll start holding you accountable for doing it. And those people with they’re hands in there pockets will just watch you work…and possibly stop coming to work so you’ll end up with even more to do. Pace yourself or you’ll burn out…and wear out. This job is very physical…it will tear your body down, you have to be careful in how you work. If you get hurt and can’t do as much, then they’ll want to get rid of you…you haven’t been in long enough for the no lay off clause to protect you. Thank you for being a person actually willing to work…those people are rare these days. And don’t apologize for ranting, that’s what keeps you sane working at the post office…you gotta let it out every now and then.
My post office has an heroin addict as a clerk , a mushroom dealer as a regular rural and a coke head as a post master . They despise me double checking the helps work , despises me identifying a problem SUCH AS issues w an LLV and deny me the slip to report the issues with the LLV . Post master doesn’t want me following the turn by turn . Postmaster then files a false police report stating I was intoxicated. I don’t even drink coffee and he claims I was drunk . Police officers pull me out the truck , put me through a series of tests and even state that I’m not intoxicated in any way shape or form . I consent to a breathalyzer tests along with the consent to search the government vehicle and my personal belongings . They didn’t find anything illegal or any THC products . Post master was just upset that it was past 5 pm and I was still running the route . IT WAS MY SECOND DAY SOLO . So now I’m on emergency placement , Unions vice president and president hasn’t responded my phone calls or emails . Postmaster isn’t letting me pick up my check , FUCK THIS JOB !
You nailed it. My PO has a clerk who has ran off every PTF that has came into our PO. Instead of addressing the problem( her) they just keep ignoring the issue.
I definitely met employees that have "nine lives" - they have relatives, etc in postal service - their track record gets ignored. Just have to keep documentation.
@@chauncey5962 some bull 💩 we have SDO MDO SMDO then him 😡😡😡 yet he's on floor going at employees when he has NO FREAKING clue what he's 👄 bout just HE'S IN CHARGE 😡😡😡😡😡😡
You are speaking the truth , biggest problem I see is management is never held accountable for their actions . They just move the problem to another office and it all starts over .
Apwu sent me an invite and I accepted, there was a box where to add any questions, I asked about the 10 year plan and how it will effect our jobs also what happened with getting ldj out of office. All they talked about was how we need mere ppl ,more ppl more dues but there just laying off mhas at our plant and pscs there cutting ther hours, so how do we need more ppl?
But Jay…some of us out here in these stations are dying on the vine. We really, desperately need more clerks! The only way I can get out in 8 hrs. Is if I run to the back in between passport customers and juggle customers on the front window to try and get out the “other duties as assigned”. Of course…I can never get that done, so I’m always working over. I’m not on the overtime list…I haven’t been for the last 17 years (and I’ve had to work overtime for that ENTIRE time) but they use the clerk who’s job I’m staying late to do…they use her for damn near everything BUT her own job. She literally doesn’t have time to do it…and we don’t have a PSE at that time of day. Upper mgmt. decided we only needed one…and she works the early morning distribution…throwing parcels. They have actually cut the distribution clerks in the back down to 8 hours but I don’t know how because my station is large and we get a MASSIVE amount of parcels. After they finish the ones for the day in the mornings…we’ll get another FULL load in the early afternoon…so that we are already overwhelmed before the next morning’s load even gets there. So although I get what you’re saying because , true… there are A LOT of TRIFLING so called “workers“ in the postal service…but a lot of your regular stations really just don’t have the manpower to get the mail out like we should. Even when the “Trifos” come to work and actually put in the time ( we have one that calls out all the time…but will at least work like a soldier when they’re there) And the reason you have to wait on mail to load on your truck is because the only person available to load it is that window clerk who still has a line out the door up front or the T-7 that has to count the money and get the bag ready before he would be able to do the dispatch…because he’s the only clerk left.
Watched some of the video, spoke with a co worker who attended, seems to me the union doesn't know what is going on that's why they didn't answer questions and are reacting instead to the vicious cycle that is : those who are difficult or lazy, calling out, or refusing to do work directed to do, makes unskilled Management become loud, unprofessional, and quick to right up. Instead of team building managers don't know what else to do so we go round and round. Those of us who enjoy this job and do it efficiently end up being overworked, overwhelmed and lumped in with the others if we try to explain that no, I can't work another day off I'm burned out. When I arrived at my office I got it from both sides, carriers telling me management wasn't to be trusted, and management telling me who were problems and don't listen to them. I thought, " wow, they've created quite the adversarial relationship here. Shouldn't we be a team?" I saw very old technology being used, workers being inefficient and a huge need for modernizing. But, neither side wants to listen to ideas for change and if we had enacted small changes in 2016 when I arrived maybe we would never have a DeJoy trying to make these big changes today. All day long working in office or on my route I say to myself, there is a better way, there has got to be a better way. It's so frustrating to hear a supervisor yell at a coworker and disappointing to see so many call out & not step up making my day longer than it has to be. It is us, it is them, some how we need to meet in the middle.
Spitting truth. Exactly why I am a carrier. 2hrs in the office. Rest of my day on the street. I’d rather deal with the customers, dogs and Mother Nature than office/plant drama.
I agree 100 percent. How many part time people do they need. Union has it wrong why are they talking about toxic work environment? We have major issues and that's not one.
At my location the problem is. There is so many people on the books that haven’t been to work in 6months-1Yr the higher ups look at the roster and see a full staff not knowing these people either dont come to work or have been fired smh
They only promote "yes, boss" people into management. I've had many 204B's come through my office, One was a Smart guy who had a serious ability to solve problems. Another was an ass kisser. The ass kisser is now my supervisor, and that 204b who was Smart, Hard working, had some emotional intelligence is now not in the PO anymore and probably is being a asset to another company instead ours.
That’s why I’m headed to union steward position, because it’s time to change the culture. The APWU needs to stand 10 toes down, SOLID, locked in arms across the entire fold as a whole.
Wow others states got it like that?. The processing plants I work. If my bid done early we go to another bid that's busy and work. No hanging out. Our break is our break that's that. Calling out hell no we greedy in N.Y. We come in on days off with out even being on the over time list. We run an efficient plant. Job Job Job first. Handle handle handle. Move move move mail.
No they need to STOP SUB CONTRACTING out the work, from roadside assistance, to mail pickup, etc so much money can be saved and allocated to the carriers, drivers, MHA’s etc
THE IRONY IS THE COMMUNICATION SUCKS AT USPS 1. A$$ holes like to be the boss. 2. The sups/204/managers hate people but like the money. 3. Sups are chosen from BUT NOT BY THE WORKERS. 4. The Management overwork the GOOD workers and ignore the BAD attitude workers cuz its easier to ignore them. 5. Complaints/suggestions/concerns aired to Management goes through one ear and out the other. 6. No follow though/feedback from management. 7. Management makes decisions without cunsulting the people actually on the ground and then a surprised when everything they planned goes wrong and is eventually reversed. 8. THE UNION needs to stop protecting and start disciplining BAD WORKERS , democratically. We all see them. 9. The UNION needs to come up with a mechanism where GOOD workers are recognized and rewarded for their efforts. 10. The UNION needs to crack down on NEPATISM, FAVORITISM, and the GOOD OLD BOYS GANG that runs USPS. 11. Regarding MAINTENANCE, the BUREAUCRACY is so thick that it takes 3 months to get a screwdriver ordered then approved by every single manager down the line. So many times ( but not all times) you may see maintenance not workering fast enough is because the parts and equipment they need is not available, and the Bureaucracy to get them in takes longer and therefore is less expensive than hiring a contractor. (When your car breakes down and you take it to the shop, they may need to hold your car a few days till the part comes in. Well imagine how much longer it would be if you had to get that approved by 10 different managers on 3 different shifts, most with bad communication skills and worse follow through). They are not allowed to go to home depot to go get parts and tools, it has to go inhouse!
Its about The Shmoney; GREED is what keeps these "old timers" on the clock. As far as union higher uppers are just conning us all an taking our shmoney. Greed
USPS made maintenance tests easy to pass. I had years of vocational classes to pass the old tests. The new test doesn't require people to have any proper education. So, we have lazy, unmotivated, clueless people who are promoted to these positions. Not my job to teach these guys how to work. I spent my own money and time to learn my craft (thousands of dollars and thousands of hours). These new guys spent no money and no time in positions they were handed. Eventually, maintenance will be contracted out. Might have been the post office's plan.
My son works for postal distribution center in Md. in the last 2-3 months they cut all his overtime out and he’s struggling to make 40 hrs a week. He took a $1000+ a month pay decrease. He waiting to be converted in 31/2 months. He’s trying to hang in there but he has a very unfriendly almost hostile manager but he was apprehensive not to file a grievance because he’s not career yet. No options!
As longer he passed his 90 days, he is considered bargaining employee, even if he's not career he is protected unde his collective contract, so He can file grievances!
There way too many RCA at my station, I was getting 6 days a week work, now I'm down to 2 days a week work! Someone's dumb! Why hire more when yall know may 6th crap is hitting the fan🤨
I'm in the Florida. We have so many lazy ppl at my plant. There has been no overtime since November 2022. Currently all pses come in one of two days for the week. We have very little mail. I can safely say as a union member I want out. I see union members come to work, clock in and head straight to the union office. They feel they are God. They sit in there till a supervisor or the mdo finds them and tell them to get to work on the floor. They sit there making coffee and buying stuff online...on company's time. They represent the employees who are always calling out, always late, always aggressive towards good employees and management. I think us good employees should get a discount while those who use their services daily should be made to pay double. On my tour, maintenance works very hard as well as Tour 1 mechanics. Tour 2 mechanics are so so lazy.
That's a fact but also the abusive of the one's That's come in working as well because if you keep abusive people when we work 6 days a week with 1 day off, that's a killing as well from my understanding that's why I realized why the one's that doing what they doing with calling off etc. The post office need to change their business model and also think about the employee's that we have feelings and families as well.
As a CCA they got us coming in at 1 pm to do swings some are 1.5 to complete but really 2.5 hours supervisors are not checking what the regulars are separating and they rush us to be back in a few hours and on top of that you come back and do parcels from different routes and routes all spread out far out between one another and they rush you to finish but you have to drive to these locations and they include your driving time being deducted while you’re at the office included in your time on the street so if you have an hours worth of work if it takes 15 to load you have 45 minutes to be back in the office it’s really crazy. You also got supervisors changing your time in pencil when you have copies of your schedule the night before to say you are not scheduled and you tell your postmaster and they say they will talk to the supervisor but it keep happening. Currently we ccas can’t work but three days a week due to no vehicles working
The other day a new 204b who was a horrible carrier that complained everyday got into a verbal altercation with an older lady who is a rural carrier. He was so loud, disrespectful and rude for no reason. We all heard it including the other managers but no one intervened. We have six 204b’s which 4 were horrible carriers that now have “a little authority” and try to abuse it. Our clerks file grievances everyday for RCA’s and management doing their job. Maintenance is another story that I don’t have time to discuss right now 🤦🏾♀️

I agree with you, but how do you deal with people who have medical documentation who have FMLA saying they can take 14 days off in a month there’s too many of those people in the post office who are the ones they doing the most Call Out who can’t do the whole route, they need to fix that issue because a lot of them are getting on restriction to get back at the management
I’m a tto and you are right cause I get a call everyday to go and do something else other than the run I’m on because somebody bulked out now I don’t mind helping out my fellow coworkers but I get tired of being the one that’s called I have said spread this ish around call somebody else from time to time cause yea I am burned out and have had shoulder surgery and all so yea……..I’m tired but good stuff man thanks
I have orientation on Monday, for whatever reason my lite blue login wasn't working, I called the number waited on hold for nearly an hour just to be told that I wasn't in the system yet. She said it shouldn't effect my orientation in a negative way :)
Facts. Mail handler here. I know exactly what you are talking about bud. I try to leave drama at home and try to treat everyone equally. I do my work and go home. I'm taking the ET exam for maintenance next month, but I don't want to be standing around 😂😅😅. I don't know if it's the same robot, but this Samoan co worker told me that he was working besides a robot at the other building and they had to get rid of the robot because it kept breaking down and couldn't do some things better than him. That's what he told me 😂
About toxic environment. So my partner and I were wrapping up 2nd pass automation well ahead of schedule when my partner looked at the oper next to us who were struggling, he snickered and comes up to me and starts talking shit about them, I tell him those people are new how can you expect them to be at our level , instead of criticizing them why don't you offer to help them, don't expect me to be a jerk and talk shit about them cuz we all have been there ,I know ppl would treat me like shit and that was wrong of them 2do . I do what I can to be positive and help unfortunately not everyone feels the same.
This is painting with a wide brush. Your management may suck, but that does not mean that ALL management does. We do havea couple that are terrible, but 98% are pretty decent.
Hell to the mfn yes!!! It comes from within!! The older ones know how to play their cards! Not all of them do it before you guys attack me. Us that are fairly new work our ass off 7 days a week and there is no incentive to do so! The regulars or career as they call it are so protected! There are people who want to work but we get run down from doing everyone's job! Call it like you see it homie!! I have never seen such high paid lazy ass people that don't appreciate help!! Is there any kind of attendance policy??
💯 Where I work we definitely have an attendance problem! I’m in MVS and last week (Friday) the whole tour of drivers that relieves us called out, and of course on fight night the same occurred throughout the whole plant. Their tour sup had the audacity to ask if any of us would stay….😂 Thanks but no thanks! Since the PO wants to cut OT when it’s convenient for them, don’t offer it when you’re in dire need and you can’t move mail 🤷🏾♂️ I’m a Union supporter BUT I understand why some employers hate Unions. Too many people abuse privileges. Malingerers and dirt bags who would be let go at “real jobs” are protected and good workers who want to do well are mentally and physically exhausted. Yes the PO has a toxic work environment APWU, but it’s not all on the management. I would tell them to STOP protecting trash workers and you’ll have a better work environment altogether.
They definitely need more team building activities. Also, the toxicity is coming from the top down. The revenues are down. Why are we raising postage when customer service is down? Packages we seem to have those on point so we can charge for that, but letters - old machines and clerks can not correct the addresses if wrong zipcode is used. For example, customer wrote their zip code in the from and to addresses by mistake. It is going to be returned to sender because of their error then they are going to need to use yet another stamp. The post office clerks used to help the mail along. Now, if the customer does not have all the mailing address- it may be a lost cause to even put the letter in the mail. It is what it is. Ask any postal employee do they trust letter delivery . . . The real answer is no. Best say a prayer with that stamp.
Great video and good points you’ve made, it starts with US!! Everyone knows the system IN & OUT and these grievances are killing the PO coming from the lazy workers.
I swear, every time you start talking about lazy workers, it sounds like you’re talking about my plant. The setups some of these guys have so they can watch videos on their phones and hide from management is ridiculous.
Love how APWU pulled the naked bootleg and tapped danced their way out of real issues…namely what’s happening with the 10 year plan?! Yes the PO is toxic, we ALL know this and the APWU and the other unions are partly to blame by protecting trash workers! You can’t put the toxic work environment solely on management when you have members who malinger, have poor attendance and attitudes. Of course it will be a toxic environment because you’re (APWU) making it hard for the people who do come to work and actually work because you (APWU) knowingly allow trash workers to benefit from their laziness. What employer wouldn’t be upset if they’re FORCED to keep people who don’t want to work?!🤷🏾♂️ As for the get out and rally…Nah! I’m not doing that or wearing some stickers until you tell us what’s really happening with the 10 year plan! Thats more important right now because many GOOD workers are in danger of losing their jobs. The whole “toxic work environment” is a smokescreen because people have been demanding answers that you (APWU) have still failed to provide.
Exactly Jay, Point on. They don't test new hires anymore. Our tractors and straight trucks are not that old. They are beat to hell by so called new drivers with experience. Give me a break!
Yes you are definitely bringing up great points!! I have never understood the crossing trades etc! I have always felt team work makes the job easier!! I’ll help the clerks when they need it! I’ll help at the blue door whatever as long as they don’t grieve me!

I definitely met employees that have "nine lives" - they have relatives, etc in postal service - their track record gets ignored. Just have to keep documentation.
I’m working with the same scenario at my PO!! I’ve never seen an outfit that rewards bad behavior like the postal service!!

🤣🤣 exactly
Well J, this is the deal, it is what it is. Tons of toxicity in the past office, tons. In Fact it is like Jr. High school. Fact😅

Everyone goes in to stand 10 toes down, until you get your legs kicked out from under you by a self serving craft director and their cronies.

Preach!!! ❤

😂😂😂 Described my plant to a t bro😂😂😂😂

They probably watching your videos lmao!!

Where I work we definitely have an attendance problem! I’m in MVS and last week (Friday) the whole tour of drivers that relieves us called out, and of course on fight night the same occurred throughout the whole plant.
Their tour sup had the audacity to ask if any of us would stay….😂
Thanks but no thanks! Since the PO wants to cut OT when it’s convenient for them, don’t offer it when you’re in dire need and you can’t move mail 🤷🏾♂️
I’m a Union supporter BUT I understand why some employers hate Unions.

I just came on board as a CCA, waiting on my road test. Kinda have mixed emotions now. Did I make the correct career choice 🤔

What employer wouldn’t be upset if they’re FORCED to keep people who don’t want to work?!🤷🏾♂️
As for the get out and rally…Nah!
