@@gravedays8875My dad died whilst on holiday in Sri Lanka and it’s usual to expect a post mortem if dying abroad, and death was unexpected. A post mortem, then repatriation is so expensive. That’s the rule of thumb throughout the world, unless you die in the back of beyond somewhere. Then there’s the repatriation, it’s extremely expensive, and in my dad’s case his holiday insurance didn’t cover any of it because he’d changed one of his regular medications just before going on his holiday. He hadn’t thought to notify the insurance, so on that basis they refused to pay out anything.
@@gravedays8875 I think you mean the Foreign and Commonwealth Office ie the embassy. There are many British citizens overseas who need expensive hospital treatment, repatriation or repatriation of their remains etc. The taxpayer does not pay for this. You are on your own. Insurance is needed.
I lived in Thailand from 2007 until 5 April 2024. I remember this case well. Those two young people having their lives snuffed out in a foreign country when they should have been enjoying themselves. I remember seeing news where the police allowed loads of members of the Thai public to walk all over the crime scene, something that would never have been allowed here. Ironically I bought a house recently in Norfolk and it happens to be in Hemsby and the church is just up the road from where I live, such a weird feeling.
I'm going to Thailand later this year, I was thinking about this sad case and that island. I'm obviously not going to that or any island, this case made me weary.
During my research while making this video I encountered many statements from people who had lucky escapes. Mainly from local young men who ride around in groups on mopeds. They see tourists as easy targets. Just be aware of your surroundings and enjoy your holiday. Thank you for your comment

There were a few small but notable errors in your presentation but overall it was a very respectable and respectful effort. Dozens of people have perished on Koh Tao in suspicious circumstances or as clear victims of murder since January 2000. Journalists of the mainstream media are only just beginning to realise the numbers are that high. Prior to the murders of Hannah and David these are just some of the known fatalities: Ian Jacobs (UK 18/1/2000) Virat Asavachin (February 2002 - shot dead) Swedish stepfather (Feb 2002 - found hanged) Yoshie Sazawa (Japan - 18/6/2004) Anthony Cardullo (USA - 19/11/2013) Nick Pearson (UK - 1/1/2014) I have listed over 30 deceased souls for the period 2000 - 2023 within my own videos. By the way, Zaw Lin did not enter Thailand illegally and was found not guilty of all immigration and work permit charges.
I have watched many documentaries and read many articles on this case before producing this video. I think we would all agree that the actual culprit or culprits remain at large. I do believe that the culprit is a member of an influential family who is very possibly responsible for other similar crimes before this one and maybe even since.
Yet another interesting upload. My partner & I visited her grave a few years. We noticed her sisters' grave next to her so did some research as the D.O.D for her sisters is right near the anniversary of the murder so we thought it may have been a suiside (seen others like that, that were) but it was a coincidence. her sister was a few months pregnant. Such a shame, the family have lost three members.
Hard to imagine monsters like these that did the murders actually walk among us. So sad. Beautiful couple. May they rest in peace 🥲
