    Turkish Airlines (Turkish: Türk Hava Yolları) is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey. As of August 2019, it operates scheduled services to 315 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, making it the largest mainline carrier in the world by number of passenger destinations.[8][9][10] The airline serves more destinations non-stop from a single airport than any other airline in the world,[11] and flies to 126 countries, more than any other airline.[9][10][5][12] With an operational fleet of 24 cargo aircraft, the airline's cargo division serves 82 destinations.[9][5]
    The airline's corporate headquarters are at the Turkish Airlines General Management Building on the grounds of Istanbul Atatürk Airport in Yeşilköy, Bakırköy, Istanbul.[13] Istanbul Airport in Arnavutköy is the airline's main base, and there are secondary hubs at Ankara Esenboğa Airport and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport. Turkish Airlines has been a member of the Star Alliance network since 1 April 2008.
    Turkish Airlines was established on 20 May 1933 as Turkish State Airlines (Turkish: Devlet Hava Yolları)[15] as a department of the Ministry of National Defense.[16] The airline's initial fleet consisted of two five-seat Curtiss Kingbirds, two four-seat Junkers F 13s and one ten-seat Tupolev ANT-9.[16] In 1935, the airline was turned over to the Ministry of Public Works and was subsequently renamed General Directorate of State Airlines. Three years later, in 1938, it became part of the Ministry of Transportation.
    Turkish Airlines has been the official carrier of several European football clubs such as Manchester United,[65] FC Barcelona,[66] Borussia Dortmund,[67][68] Olympique de Marseille,[69] Aston Villa,[70] FK Sarajevo,[71] and Hannover 96.
    The company has been the primary sponsor of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague since 2010[78] and was among the sponsors of the 2010 FIBA World Championship.[79]
    On 22 October 2013, Turkish Airlines and Euroleague signed an agreement to prolong their existing sponsorship deal by five years until 2020.[80]
    Turkish Airlines is the sponsor of the Turkish Airlines Open, a European Tour golf tournament played annually in Turkey since 2013.[81]
    Turkish Airlines was the kit sponsor of Galatasaray for the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League and Bosnian club FK Sarajevo. Since then, the airline has continued its sponsorship of Galatasaray and has also been the kit sponsor for the European campaigns of other Turkish clubs such as Fenerbahçe and Başakşehir.
    On 10 December 2015, Turkish Airlines and UEFA signed a sponsorship deal for the UEFA Euro 2016, becoming the first airline sponsor of UEFA European Championship tournaments.[82][83]
    On 29 January 2016, Turkish Airlines announced its partnership with Warner Bros. to sponsor the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the movie, a pivotal scene unfolds aboard a Turkish Airlines A330.[84] That year, the airline also teamed up with a number of Turkish tourist agencies in the production of the romantic comedy film Non-Transferable.[

    If Turkish Airline did not refund during 7 days call your bank and ask for section 75 against Turkish Airline and bank will refund you .

      @@Jupiterloobncj I'm not from the US but I work with an american bank and our clients dispute this airline all the time because if they cancel your flight (the airline itself not the client) they only give you travel credits. It doesn't really get refunded by Turkish Airlines in cash until the client files a dispute with their bank. And the airline only gives it back because there are regulations in the US about this. If the client won't file a dispute with the bank they'll never refund it. And i worked at 2 american banks and see this airline all the time in our debit/credit card disputes

      Very typical, it never happened to me!! The fact that never happened to you, does not mean that one day you are not going to come into crossroads with their business practices like I just did. Their phone live customer service is the worst. They hung up on you. And make you pay diferencial money for stuff stipulated not to pay. Their computer system conveniently rejects your email addresses as invalid when filling up forms so they don't charge you for things stipulated not to. Everything comes to a gray area with them. But, if you flash your credit card to pay their sweet differentials for whatever. Oh, system is just fine and your email address is valid. I mean, everything is fantastic now!!

    I do not see any scam here. It is a standard practice by Most IATA airlines for international airlines. If you buy a ticket through agent and or its a restricted ticket (not full fare) then don't expect any reimbursement in cash. The voucher is called MCO you could have redeemed it at airport desk or booked the next flight on the same airlines. I have traveled over million miles on all the major airlines and had experienced many cancellations subjected to same rules and practice. Please check the IATA rules for any international carrier.. you fill find it no different then TI.

    I had similar experience when my flight was canceled and rescheduled for the next day. They gave me a voucher that I could only use at their office. The nearest office for me was 2 hours flight away from my hometown. I would not recommend this airline.

      I tried to cancel my flight 3 weeks prior to my flight. Had a flight planed from atlanta to ukriane. When ukraine issued a news saying that were going to close the borders I asked them to cancel my flight. Mannnn...I called them many times and couldn't speak with anyone that could speak English or maybe they were speaking and I couldn't understand. But I called them many times asking to cancel and all the people I talked they couldn't explain how was the process to cancel it. One person said you go to this site and do a review to cancel. Wtf I have to do a review to cancel a flight? I lost $910 dollars but thats ok. They will get fuck some way down on the road. Matter fact they are getting fucked with the covid 19. You lost 600 bro I lost 910.

    I totally agree with you 3 times I got scammed with Turkish airline. once you give them the money, they have a hundred way to don't return and credit card companies don't have access to dispute. Thank you for letting us know how they work even there are agent's big scammer.

      The voucher was given as an option which i chose not to take. If you don’t have the common sense to claim your money back when you have the chance&you don’t look into the ins and outs of the voucher, on your head be it.

    Many thanks for sharing this to new passengers. I was considering this airline to fly but after watching your video and other guy`s video plus many bad comments about this airline, the lack of politeness and kidness of the flight attedants, the lack of responsability of the customer service, made me stop to book with Turkish Airlines.

    piece baggage weighing 23 kg can be checked-in as excess baggage both for Economy Class and for Business Class. On these routes, 80 USD will be charged per piece for excess baggage weighing between 23-32 kg.Regardless of the weight and piece concept, a single piece of baggage cannot exceed 32 KG. Baggage that exceeds 32 KG must be divided and carried in two or more pieces.

    Never ever cancel your flights or holidays booking! U may loose your deposit or whole booking if u wish to cancel after time. Let them cancel your booking to get full refund.

    My dad is scammed by Turkish airlines. When we was doing check in and giving luggage. The representative of this company removed 15,000 miles from us without asking us. We wanted to return them but without success. Even though we didn't fly in business.

    My Flight was canceled,2 weeks before Due to covid. I called the customer service and within the next 12 hours the refunded my money (Full refund ) . Turkish airlines is the Best. 💗

    my dad had to travel from tehran to adana to see his friend which works with him. the flight got delayed by 10 hours, the food wasnt great, the flight attendants were really tired and angry.
    also after the 10 hours delay it got delayed again by 2 hours! never travelling with them EVER again

    I understand your frustration. It looks to me like I am going to lose almost $5000 that I paid for a family that lives in another country. I used my credit card, and they never told me that the passengers would have to PRESENT the form of payment that was used to book the flight, which is impossible. So I asked for a refund and they said I couldn't get one because it was a promotional flight, and promotional flights are always non-refundable. I made SURE that the tickets were refundable, I was told twice during the process that they were, then they throw up different options as you go along, not telling you that you may be choosing an option that CHANGES the applicable refund policy. I'm furious and, like you, striking back the only way I know how.

      @@anerzlearth1836 They insisted that I go to an airport with a Turkish airline office. There are only 4 of those in my country, and the closest one is two states away. In the end, that's what I had to do, pay $700 for a friend who is an experienced flyer, which I am not, to go with me and show them my actual credit card. I hate Turkish Airlines passionately now.

      @@anerzlearth1836 The good news is that I was able to help the family in question get to their destination country 3 months ago, end of October, but absolutely no thanks to Turkish airlines. They didn't work with me at any single step along the way.

      @@cherismith5707 I totally understand because I also encountered a similar problem (My son purchased my flight ticket as a birthday gift, and he lives in another state in which there isn’t a TA ticket counter at the airport, or sales office in his respective city). After reaching out to TA customer service with my concern MULTIPLE times I FINALLY received a link to download TA’s CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FORM(which includes the email address the cardholder MUST use to submit the form, and attach photos (front & back) of credit card used to purchase ticket and government issued identification. Additionally, the representative and I exchanged several emails in which I explained EVERYTHING in detail concerning the payment situation and even attached the photos of the credit card and ID. He immediately went into the system to update the system to reflect the changes and was reassured that I will encounter no problems at check in. However, he still sent me a email containing the link to send to my son so that HE could send the documents to make sure its wasn’t fraud. Prayerfully I won’t encounter any problems. Cause I’m prepared to show each and every email that was shared between myself and the TA agent. I’ll let you know on 02/06.

      @@GlobeTrekkingwithMzFab This airline claims to be so concerned with making sure it's not fraud, but they don't become concerned about that until AFTER they take our thousands of dollars. They make sure they get their thousands of dollars before they let us know how many hurdles we have to jump through, expensive and very problematic hurdles, to meet their requirements to make sure that WE don't get frauded, like they care about us. It's a complete joke.
      Please do let me know how that went! It's a very good idea if you do ANYTHING with Turkish airlines to keep documentation of every single transaction and have it on your person when you deal with them.

    Same way Turkish Airlines cheated me for $550, Oslo to Antalya and Return. Turkish Airlines self cancelled the flight No refund, but now demand more money from me, I have not accepted vouchers.

    My diamond earrings were stolen. They were caught in front of CCTV in front of Salim Chicken Restaurant at Istanbul Airport in a second. But no one did anything and I was also getting late for boarding.....

    Getting refunds is very hard, just exchange/freeze the canceled flights to a to a new flight. And for the voucher thing its not really a scam its just a old system, since turkish airlines is operated in Turkey its very easy to find offices in Turkey. Fyi offices in airports are most likely closed try to find a office in your country. And I think you were misinformed with the extra weight thing, it cost 120dolars for a new 24kg and I never heard of extra kilo costing 50$’s.
    Besides, there is a purpose for the 24kg limit; its not there for you to go above it. I flew with Turkish airlines for more than 100+’s.

    Very poor service from Turkish airline.I agree, i do not recommend to fly withTurkish airline to anyone, and I had the same experiences and they charged me $230.00 because ther way a 14 hours layover between my flight from Van to Istanbulda and Istanbul to USA, but they did not pay for it. They mostly do not speak English and they acting very mean and unprofessional.
    For a night. Then after I returned, my luggage were broken and my new items were missing and one of my cartons was missing and they did not take care of it after I called them more than 20 times. Nothing take care off. Very poor service.

    I had a flight with layover cancelled last winter from Istanbul back to Canada through text. I noticed online they had another flight the next day with seats available so I told them over the phone to give me the direct flight the following day and they later emailed me that it was confirmed. I never got my hotel room night back because the hotel wouldn't write me a receipt and only accepted cash, but at least I got the more expensive direct flight to make up for the lost layover time.

    As of December 2020, these vouchers could now be redeemed online or through the hotline; previously this was not possible. However, you could continue you to use your vouchers through a sales office. If the voucher amount is higher than the new ticket you intend to purchase, the difference would be applied in a new voucher and would be handed to you during the booking process.

    I’m sorry to hear about your experience with Tk but regarding your statement (3:47) it’s not only TK that Charges for overweight. All airlines does that. In addition to that the price is not always as high as you mentioned per kg. I fly TK from CPH a lot and I’ve never paid for excess weight since TK is very generous and offers 30+8 kgs which is 100 times better than all other European airlines but I know that you pay ≈12$ per extra kilogram

    Exactly the same happened to me - complete scammers. There must be some higher aviation body that they can be held accountable to. I have given up trying to get a refund I've spent more in time, phone calls and travel to the airport to their closed sales centre to justify it. This is obviously a directive to avoid refunding customers money they are entitled to. Hard to believe that they think it will serve them well in any way.

    I got a same problem
    They gave me 2 vouchers for one canceled flight .plus one voucher in Euro and another one in US dollar . The problem is not solved .

      @@ca3867 I never spoke about in UA-cam! But believe me at once I faced almost the same bad experience with Turkish airlines! So I got very disappointed too. I understand that Turkish airlines is trying the best to do. But they have a major problem, it's the workers with a very poor level of English language! So misunderstanding and wrong acting will be always! I guess this is not good for them at all! Something else: in many cases really they make a strange changing of theirs policies, conditions and terms of purchase!!! I remember, between 2008 untill 2014 I was flying with Turkish airlines. The quality of service was much better than now. Do you want that I shock you with something?! I purchased a ticket from the office of TC airport, the officer excused that he cannot print out my ticket because Turkish airlines doesn't have many to buy a new one!!! With all this the same officer gave me a set of wrong information, witch caused me many troubles at the arrival to Istanbul airport!!!!!!!!

    During covid there were all sorts of issues here in the UK British Airways got into hot water with issuing vouchers (always insist on a refund). Last year i purchased a ticket with Portuguese airlines TAP. They duplicated the booking and charged me twice. They acknowledged the mistake and said a refund had been issued. After two weeks and many emails still no refund so i called American Express and they credited my card immediately.

    I would suggest to buy travel insurance next time, and always try to dispute payments with your credit card company. They would gather complete details and then initiate investigations, which in many cases end up being in your favor.
    I personally had no such financial troubles with Turkish airlines, but had troubles with many of their flight attendants who act in very rude way and change your seats the way they like without prior notice.
    I still consider Turkish far better than other airlines in the middle east such as Emirates and Saudi. Saudi airline charged my relative 7000 SR " 1800 dollars" for one way repatriation flight from Saudi to US !!! Taking advantage of COVID to charge passengers extra.....

    I understand your frustration but there're alot of variables that isn't clear in your case if you're ticket was booked through a third party agent like an online website that is not Turkish Airlines official website they can't refund that's true for any airline and I worked for a couple of them including Turkish Airlines what they can do is usually offer a rebooking free of charge or a voucher now I am not sure what exactly happened in your case a miscommunication from their part or something but hell one time I remember I had to change an economy booking to business class free of charge just because there were no economy available for his rebooking

      @@philosopherlady434 it's usually valid for two years and yes ofc you can always book a fully fixable ticket but usually it cost a lot more, and sadly regarding your voucher it can't be extended but you can reissue before it expires on a far date full max year, preferably close to a period where you might travel again and reissue it once more on the actual travel date.

      hi i hope you reply, me and my family booked a trip to turkey and with turkish airlines, we booked it in february this year and we are going in a few weeks hopefully 🙏🏼. However we resently found out that when going on the app, the seats that we paid extra for and booked so that we can be seated together, now on the app it tells me to pay again and it doesn’t come up with the seats we have chosen. We then rang turkish airlines phone and the person said our seats were cancelled and so has our luggage! We paid extra for seats and 23kg luggage each! i need help on what to do now, pls let me know how i can fix this because i do not want to pay again as i already paid back in february this year. The man on the phone said our flights have not been cancelled but our seats and luggage has been. what do i do? i hope you reply thanks

    I understand your frustration I was scammed in 2015 by another Company and that shocked me, especially after loosing so much money, and also after being racially abused by an attendant at Paris Charles de Gaulle long time ago: all this put me off, I stopped flying, I gave up.     I love Turkish airlines! They are far better than any of our airlines here in Canada. That said, if we were in that situation it would be nearly impossible for us to go to an "office" because, well, the big airport is a day's travel from here at a cost of $300 for 3 ferries and gas both ways.
    Maybe they have improved I hope!

    Sorry for your experience but last year, I've cancelled my business class tickets twice and both of them they refund me back to my credit card. It took couple of months, I had to fill some paperwork but money came in. I did it through their NYC office via email. They have the policy of wherever you purchase the ticket, the refund must came through that office/country. That's why it took some time, but it came.

    Advice noted. Will continue to keep a turkish open ticket, the voucher never looked like a good option. Other airlines are also same - no refunds. I now have airline credits for 2 other airlines. Lesson learned, dont hurry to book your tickets right now. Thanks for the video.

    Traveled with Turkish airlines more than 20 times and never had a problem. Was let off 4 kg over and was able to book another flight within a year because of a cancelled flight not to mention I love the lounge in Istanbul for a extra £15

    Never except voucher, If Turkish Airline or any Airlines did not refund during 7 days call your bank and ask for section 75 against Airline and bank will refund you , if you are European citizens.

    I regret that I didn’t watch this video before booking my flight. I requested to change my ticket due to family emergency , they made involuntary change to the same original date, which I wanted to advance it by a month earlier. Then they refused to change and claim that I already changed my ticket. Now for several days I am just submitting feedback and feedback, and they are just forcing me to buy for the change fees, or wait for the feedback response which I am not receiving

    this airlines sucks me my fiancé book an airlines here we have boarding pass already via online but when im going to check in my language they denied my visa although we knows that airlines has no right to decide the visa unless the immigration itself now my fiancé cancel the flight and refund the money but they r not refunding till now. please don't take Turkish Airlines again

    I've never flown Turkish Airlines but I've tried to find flights on their website. The website was so outdated it wouldn't even work properly. After two days of trying to use the website I simply had to give up. What is up with this company?

    Yeah, I’d be upset too if I was in a similar situation as you. I’ve personally never flown with Turkish but have only heard good things about them. But $600 is a lot of money especially for the budget traveller and losing that value to mere “vouchers” won’t really compensate much since we will have to rebook with another airline anyways using ADDITIONAL money. Good for you if you have credit cards, but the majority of us rely on savings/debit so that does that a toll on our overall cost. Hope to god I’ll never have to deal with this sort of situation.

    I agree! My flight got cancelled this month(Philippines-Brazil) and we contacted the travel agency to rebooked my ticket but this F Turkish Airlines saying i have no appearance at the airport even if we sent a proofs. My ticket costs 187,000yen and that F Airline asking for 220,000yen for the rebooking which is way more expensive. We also pay 41,000yen to the travel agency for the penalty. We lost the ticket just like that.Even the travel agency adviced us to look for lawyer and sue this Airline. Turkish airline is really a scammer.

    Traveled with TA many times, all international flights, almost every time had over weight luggage, never was i asked to pay that much extra. Please, tell the whole truth as to what happened. I'm sure many will agree with me.

    Simply you send an email to any closer sales office, they do booking. Also it's a lie that prices 3 times more because it's same booking system, only the difference the sales service tax between $15 up to $40.

    I paid $350 for extra bag from Dallas-Fort airport to Bamako mali also the WiFi doesn’t work the food between Istanbul to Bamako sucks 😢Air France is the best airline at least they give you good food

    The same thing happened to me with Air Asia been waiting 5 months for a refund . Nok Scoot got me for 9100 baht . I have a video on my channel as well. Airlines are ripping us off left and right and nothing we can do .

    Guys it’s in every airlines contract of carriage if the flights gets cancelled they must rebook you on another flight or a partner carrier if they have any you JUST HAVE TO ASK this can even be done SAME DAY AT AIRPORT. In this case Turkish Ailines is part of the Star Alliance they have 20+ airlines part of that Alliance + they have other codeshare agreements with other airlines coming out to over 30 airlines that he could have used to rebook and I willing to say 95% chance one of these airlines was flying the same route/airport/destination the same day that his flight got canceled. Keep in a mind their a few airlines that don’t have any partners to rebook you on, RyanAir & Southwest one of them.

    I am so sorry for your lost and appreciate you took time to make the video ,Only is not just turkish air looks to me every company become some kind of scame for example i got a credit card only to earn extra for travel Bank of america gave me $ X credit limit and got 350000 points for travel .get to find out i have to use their travel agency , where is for $15000 flight I have to pay over $5000 my points equal to $350 !!! either they think we are stupid or like someone like me and you ,since we are good seeing everyone good . Just remember these days nothing is for free .and no company dose anything for you if they don't get benefit more than you ,But at least people like you exist to make our eyes open and be careful ,and My friend I am sure by doing that you are helping others .You will get some benefit back to you .What they said what goes around comes around.Thank you
