Improved but still a lot of issues. Players look like they're floating on the pitch because of lack of shadows and grass texture. Floaty passes. Playing rugby challenge 4 until it's fixed because the animations, play style, passing animations, rucks etc are just more playable. Appreciate the video!

I agree with you Mad Dragon on every point you mention. There is over oppression so you can' t gain ground, the passing is questionable and needs improvement. I saw a player running and falling into the ground with no reason. Stability issues with the game crashing or stalling and going into loops. Apart from the new teams and stadiums which are all great I liked the gravity of tackles. They seem greatly improved and varied. So there are negatives and positives. I' m pretty sure Big Ant will take into account all these issues and resolve them in following updates. So I think the game, despite its negatives is on the right direction and will improve greatly because they have chosen the humble way of sharing their progress with the faithful and benevolent rugby community. Such videos like yours Mad Dragon can only help make the game become better and better and should be appreciated because they are made with pure love for the rugby game. We all wish Rugby 25 to become the best rugby game ever and we can all help with positive thoughts and comments ! Cheers to all rugby fans !
Been making my way through comments and glad to see a lot of people on the same page from their experiences with it. As you say, we all want the best rugby game that can possibly be made, so im more than happy to keep making the videos and trying to give as much feedback to help the developers. Its just a shame that many of the patches have some steps forward followed by immediate steps backwards. Got to keep finding the positives along with the negatives and provide feedback to help the devs. This update in particular is a hard one, because the gameplay seems to grind to so much of a halt with the aggressive AI defence its hard to showcase many positives when you are being marched backwards on the easist diffculty!

Not gonna lie, it was getting that way playing along. Defense is so brutal, it takes so much out of the running rugby. 2 days ago I was sticking 50 points past a team, and even landing crossfield kicks. Now I cant get out of the 22!
Hope they sort out the passing...defence line looks decent.. attack needs a lot of work..do they have set plays? They should've copied rugby challenge style of attack of having pods of forwards etc.
This game is trying to debug code, by adding more code to work around the problem. The problem is that it's a rugby league engine and they've tried to add stuff on top, but the developers aren't rugby fans, clearly, no matter what they say. No one would put this out, and for £20? Christ.
Happy to see more animations being added, I know it was probably the most major point of feedback from the community. Think a couple of animations still look like a high tackle for union, im wondering if its an entry point for them in add high tackle penatlies in the future.

What type of pod systems and defencive systems.That's when i know I'll buy the game. Like for me, online will be what i wanna do. To be able to play other people and test my own tactics and team and schemes against people from around the world. Guess will have to wait a few years for this.
Yeah, would love to have an intricate system in the game like that, specifically for online play, it would be a method to genuinley outplay an opponent by running better set plays. Unfortunately might still be a way off of that level of complexity being added to the game.
I actually like the line speed and not just spreading the ball to the wings like in every rugby game ever - super clunky still but if they sort out the passing and running lines then you can start playing real rugby with meaningful forwards carries and phases and THEN pull the trigger and send out to the backs if there is space (still remaining hopeful because I would hate for this game to fail)
@@billymaguire3312 nothing wrong with a super oppressive offence, for me the issue is game isnt designed in a way for you to handle it as a player yyet, being able to set a custom line width and depth in the match, along with set plays to stretch the AI's defence would make it so much more interesting. Because it would be you outplaying the AI. But the game isnt there yet, and the fact its so aggressive on the easiest difficulty will take away a lot of enjoyment for newcomers to the game. That level of oppression on the hardest difficulty though is something im up for. But we need tools to play around it.

Great analysis and capture of the issues that are concerning all of us. To be totally honest , as much as I am Rugby mad with Rugby Video games and want this game to be fun and addictive I am in no rush to get to this at the moment. I downloaded the update and will try it out sometime in the next day or so.
I do appreciate big ant for doing game's for sport's like cricket and rugby that bigger companies don't even bother with and I genuinely really liked Don Bradman cricket 14 however the game's just lack any spark and quality
Unfortunately not right now, with them mentioning the idea of Spped stats for players being tweaked, I really thought this update would come with "team management" and being able to look at players stats, they must have a baseline in the game, but nothing we can see as a player.
I reckon the speed of the players are just too fast that's why even 1 pass feels like Bryan Habana is rushing at you. If they slow down the players it will create more space for passing. One thing that wasn't touched on is how poor the attacking shapes are, it's like they took note of things like a 1331 formation but have put them in completely the wrong positions. Good example is 14:28 where for some reason the pod is standing behind a back when in real life the pod would stand infront and the back would stand behind them waiting for the out the back pass. Things like this really make it hard to form a cohesive attack. I like the animations of the passing and tackling, appreciate the addition of the art work if I can say any positives. Overall better to just slow down the players and fix the shapes for now so we can get a playable game, then we can look into the other aspects of the game and develop it into a proper franchise.
The stringing passes together is the biggest problem of this using league mechanical where its often one pass off the ruck for the 5 tackles. The style of tackling is also detrimental to the flow of the game but I don't see them being able to do much about that part.
The not being able to get a pass off after the ruck and getting instant tackled made me turn off the game. it is so frustrating to go from ruck to ruck and continue to lose meters...
I think a lot of people are there with you, makes playing a casual game a real chore, i imagine it will be the main piece of feedback the devs will receive from th eupdate, everyone seems to be struggling to get anywhere.

Do we know anything about a potential career mode yet? Will promotion/ relegation be possible if we were to use a club from ProD2 for example? Will we be able to change clubs in between seasons? Any news on a fan hub as well for customisations? Forwards without lifting blocks and every player having black boots will quickly make this game boring visually
Definitely still needs alot to make this A half decent game. Graphics still need alot of work, passes and taxkling still needs to be improved, feel like this camer angle isnt the best for rugby need to be behind the play so you can see gaps etc and where your players actually going.
In previous patches you could hold pass the whole time and pass fine. with this update I think ite more an issue of when you pass the ball, rather than the ball going to the player, the ball is being passed to a point in th eair, and a player runs on to it automatically, most likely to give th esense of momentum. But the point the collect the ball is too close to the tackle radius of the AI and the tackle you before you can get the 2nd pass away. Offloading also seems to be really hard to achieve.
Yeah im not a fan of the dive being on Y myself, but the community must have asked for it. Turnovers being easier means its just worth always going for a B tackle and then just winning the turnover.

Anyone who buys or supports this game is delusional and on copium. I've watched a couple of these videos now and it is clear Big Ant has no idea what they are doing. It's time for some indie dev to make a game in Unreal 5, without licensing and make a good game first and let us change the names and stats or let modders take over and do that. Absolute embarrassment and it is shocking to see anyone say anything positive about this game.
My optimism plummets with every one of these videos that this game is going to be anything other than an awful game that looks pretty with photo accurate players but nothing that makes a game work. Surely it would be easier to use a base gameplay from the EA games or even the rugby league games and add to it. The controls talked about don't match what those games had as basic controls, why on earth are analog sticks being used for anything other than direction of running is beyond me. This game is embarrassing for rugby.

Welp looks like we need to wait for more patches. Seems like they made the game worse with this update. If I was them I would release the game with at least the 6 Nations Tournament. I think what we have here is a pre-alpha.
I think they will be receiving a lot of feedback from this update, the next minor update may even be just to fix some of the game play elements the major update added to the game. 6 Nations would be fun, but gameplay needs to be much smoother for people to want to play a full tournament.
Nice graphics are cool but like you said in the video yourself gameplay has to be good as well. I think they have a good foundation, they just have to keep tweaking it. Hopefully your video and feedback help them make a great rugby game.

The passing in this game seems absolutely terrible....why have they moved away from the bumper buttons passing from earlier games that worked pretty well before? Edited to say the tackling is also bad...your player seems to make a half break only to jump back meters and end up on the floor...loads to be done before this is any good if what ive seen here is a typical gaming experience...looks pretty nice to be fair
This game is horrendous. Worried about teams and licenses instead of making a good game. The first rugby challenge game was a step in the right direction and just needed fine tuning rather than just adding stuff on to a broken game.
The passing looks horrible needs a lot of work also support runners are over running all over the place. The opponents defensive lines are way to quick unrealistic
Not to be rude. But when you pass left, it goes left, and you say it goes right. Lol... that was a bit weird since you said it like 5 times, but every time you do say it, it went in the direction you said you passed it
if you go to 14:50 you will see what I mean. The 1st pass, i pressed to pass left, but the scrum half clearly doe the animation to pass right, then contorts his body and throws the ball around his own back so the ball does end up going left but looks bizarre. The next pass after that I passed left again, the the scrum half did a full right hand pass. So on occasions they are passing the opposite way to the way I selected. 15:42 the exact sem thing happens, either the input is being read wrong, or players running around th eback of the ruck confuse the game on who was where, when you press pass. Not every pass is like that, but there was certainly a few in the video.
To follow up, ive rewatched some sections, and I see what you mean, there are a good handful of examples where I said pass a certain way and the ball does end up that way, so I see why you thought I was getting it wrong. What I meant by those passes is that, I am pressing to pass 1 direction, and the animation that plays for the scrum half passing is clearly designed for him to pass the other way, and he passes around his own back in an attempt to go the way I was passing. So watch back through and take a look at what the scrumhalf is donig as opposed to where the ball ends up for a good few of those points.

Tiebreak was an absolute mess in early access and now it looks playable. I’m hopeful Rugby 25 will be the same.

The passing in this game seems absolutely terrible....why have they moved away from the bumper buttons passing from earlier games that worked pretty well before? Edited to say the tackling is also bad...your player seems to make a half break only to jump back meters and end up on the floor...loads to be done before this is any good if what ive seen here is a typical gaming experience...looks pretty nice to be fair

This game is horrendous. Worried about teams and licenses instead of making a good game. The first rugby challenge game was a step in the right direction and just needed fine tuning rather than just adding stuff on to a broken game.
Are the breakdowns some sort of sick joke? In what world does any of it look real?

The passing looks horrible needs a lot of work also support runners are over running all over the place. The opponents defensive lines are way to quick unrealistic

Not to be rude. But when you pass left, it goes left, and you say it goes right. Lol... that was a bit weird since you said it like 5 times, but every time you do say it, it went in the direction you said you passed it
if you go to 14:50 you will see what I mean. The 1st pass, i pressed to pass left, but the scrum half clearly doe the animation to pass right, then contorts his body and throws the ball around his own back so the ball does end up going left but looks bizarre. The next pass after that I passed left again, the the scrum half did a full right hand pass. So on occasions they are passing the opposite way to the way I selected. 15:42 the exact sem thing happens, either the input is being read wrong, or players running around th eback of the ruck confuse the game on who was where, when you press pass. Not every pass is like that, but there was certainly a few in the video.
To follow up, ive rewatched some sections, and I see what you mean, there are a good handful of examples where I said pass a certain way and the ball does end up that way, so I see why you thought I was getting it wrong. What I meant by those passes is that, I am pressing to pass 1 direction, and the animation that plays for the scrum half passing is clearly designed for him to pass the other way, and he passes around his own back in an attempt to go the way I was passing. So watch back through and take a look at what the scrumhalf is donig as opposed to where the ball ends up for a good few of those points.
