I love to thrift for Christmas decor - you can find some beautiful things at great prices! What was your favorite from today's haul? And when do you decorate for Christmas?
That McCoy pottery bowl, “two dollars,” I would love that bowl. The way you love glasses I love bowls. Oh dear… Loved your video. Cheers from Australia.
I love how well taken dishes are, you can see employees take pride in what they do! Everything is so clean! It's like a different universe of thrift stores! And so much cheaper!! Panhandle Florida here, there is nothing I could buy for a dollar exactly same quality what you are showing to us. It would be at least three to five dollars a piece, if not more.😐 I love your videos!!
There is so much disparity between thrift stores regionally. I feel fortunate to have so many nice ones where I live. Thanks so very much for watching. XOXO
Paula, I was raised in the Deep South and my mother collected the Golden Wheat pattern dishes. They were found in boxes of Duz detergent as an incentive to buy the product. Mother had quite the collection with a total of 7 in our family to wash for. I still have a couple of pieces and I'm sure my sisters do as well. Love your videos.
Hi Patricia - thank you so much for that information. I remembered that someone had told me that the wheat pattern was something that was given our or earned from stamps. I am so happy to know about the Duz detergent. I can remember Duz from when I was a little girl! It is always so fun to learn from our friends and viewers! I am so glad you are enjoying the channel!
I saw a set of these wheat patterned dishes in a local thrift store. They are beautiful. I remember them as being given away with powdered detergent, probably Duz.
Why I keep thinking I remember my mother getting the wheat dishes by buying oatmeal. We were a family of 12…9 kids and a step grandfather rounded out the dozen with my folks. As you may come to the conclusion that we had an awful lot of oatmeal in our diet for many years but my mother finally got her set of 16 place settings as well as all the serving pieces after a fashion. I assume she knew one or two pieces would get broken hence the number 16. She then was picking up extras at sales over the years so she set our table even at holidays with those dishes. When the older siblings started their own families they too would pick up pieces for her and when my mother passed, God rest her sole, she had a set of 35 place settings but still not enough to cover the grands and greats but we had a beautiful table just the same. Just like the Waltons, we didn’t cancel dinners because our table wasn’t a perfect match! I just love thinking back on old memories and these thrifting vlogs are just perfect for conjuring up all those wonderful times.
Thanks Paula…I just CAN NOT eat Thanksgiving dinner with Christmas all around me so NEVER until after Thanksgiving. I’m not a flipper so anything I thrift is for me but I also would never buy new decor every year for my holiday decorating. I am absolutely shocked at just how much new is bought by so many every year. It overwhelms me at how many UA-camrs out there are decorating way early for any holiday and buying all the things…new. I think the only happy folks are the retailers. Anyway…I’m venting about something that isn’t bad for some but as for me I shop Habitat for Humanity first and then thrift the other various thrift storefronts that I pass on my outings. I chuckle at your regrets because I get home from a thrift just kicking myself nearly every time for leaving things behind. I think we all do it in the name of keeping our habit under control…which we usually never succeed at. Wishing you and all your family a very Happy Thanksgiving knowing we all have things to be thankful for!!!:):):)
I just discovered your channel and really enjoyed this video (the first one for me). I love Christmas and thrifting, and I love decorating for Christmas with thrifted finds. I have been shopping at local church holiday shops and found some great things. I collect ornaments for the tree, and have too many, but I can't stop! It's my weakness. The plaid tablecloth was a great find. I love plaid too. I also enjoy Susan Branch books. I have a nice collection, but I am not sure I have the Autumn book. Her Christmas book is one of my favorites. She illustrates and hand writes the text of all of her books. I look forward to more videos. Happy Holidays to you!
Welcome, Diane! We are so happy you found our channel and are enjoying it. We have lots of past videos for you to binge and lots of fun content coming over the next few weeks! You sound like a kindred spirit! Glassware is my weakness - just like Christmas ornaments for you! LOL
OMG We have the Season Greeting Stained Glasses gifted to us in 1978 - They are hand painted do not place in dishwasher - And yes we still have the whole set
I can. It’s not all that glamorous though 😊. I keep as many as I can in two big sideboard type pieces of furniture and the rest I keep in my cupboards or packed in bins in my under the stairs closet 😊
The pine cones look like ones used in fireplaves. I don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, also. I love the colors of Fall and decorating with natural materials available then. My Grandmother had a large bowl just like that one to raise her bread in. I can smell the bread cooking now!
Hello. Excellent point about the pinecones...and that would explain their heft. Isn't it wonderful how seeing these items triggers memories, smells, sounds, etc? It's one of many things I love about thrifting. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! XO
I have the exact Season’s Greeting glasses. I inherited them from my mom. I laughed to myself as I imagined you at a 12 step meeting…”Hi my name is Paula and I have a glassware problem!”😂
Paula, I would love it if you could sometime do a video where you demonstrate how to use a flower frog… I have always passed them by but since you love them so much I would love to be educated by you. Thanks ❤
I have a cup from the wheat pattern, belonged to my aunt and then my mother ended up with a few of them.....I remember those dishes from Sunday dinners at my aunt's house as a kid and I'm 56 now, so that cup is older than me.
This video is jam packed with pleasure! I just love it! Love it. I don't know where to start. The large fall table cloth is a favorite. The robins are perfect and will look lovely in fall decor. So looking forward to the 3 sister table scape video. I feel so lucky to have found your channel. It was such fun seeing your thrifting trip and your finds. Thank you for taking us along. And last but not least thank you for staying in real holiday time frame. Not an bit of shade to those channels that move the seasons up but i so appreciate the real time approach.
Thanks so much, Barb!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Our tablescape video will out on Sunday, November 19th! Thanks again for all your kind words!🥰
Way back in the day there was a grocery store named " Food land". My Mother had collected her entire set of china from the many purchases made throughout the years. The food purchases qualified her to purchase a piece of the china. I recall licking the s&h green stamps and posting into the books. Yuck on the taste.Never thought to use water😂 Love the simplicity of life. ❤
I can absolutely remember licking those S&H green stamps and pasting them into the little booklet. My mother got them from a grocery store called Grand Union! Great memories and yes - love the simplicity of those times! :)
Paula, I’m the same… I like to enjoy my fall decor until after Thanksgiving, it’s my favorite. I love the decorations that you made, they came out so pretty! Can’t wait to see what you 3 lovely ladies do to decorate your tables for Thanksgiving.
Thank you! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! I absolutely love the smell of the house with all the cooking going on and the sound of the Macy’s Day Parade on in the background! 😊
Agree totally with you regarding enjoying autumn and Thanksgiving and not rushing much earlier into Christmas decorating before then. The brilliant autumn foliage and the entire harvest season culminating in Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year. Great thrift store finds, even the “regrets” that were gone the following day. I have to respectfully disagree about shipping plates, though. I’ve done it many times, whether a single plate or several. I wrap them well with bubble wrap (layering with a single sheet between them and wrapping them together as one bubble-wrapped bundle) and stuff packing paper in the shipping box all around them. The USPS Priority Medium Flat Rate box (free at the PO or online) is my preference for shipping up to 4 dinner plates anywhere in the US. Easy-peasy!
Thank you so much for the tips regarding shipping plates! You have given me the encouragement to attempt it! :). And thank you for your kind words about the video - I truly appreciate it!
I’m so glad you enjoy our videos! And thank you so much for your support of our little shop! My sisters and I have such fun deciding what to carry and interacting with our customers! I hope you enjoy the items you purchased!🥰
We just moved into a new home we built over the last year, and I heard you say you were looking for the right dining table; we just received ours from a company that originates from Vermont called Pomponusic Mills…they have amazing solid wood pieces….we also purchased a sideboard as well. I didn’t get my chairs there however, Ethan Allen won me over on their solid black painted ones.
I have heard of Pomponusic Mills and will definitely look into them! Bonus that they have a Vermont association!! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment. Happy Thanksgiving!🥰
Beautiful thrift store! So many lovely holiday treasures. I am addicted to dishes and my Christmas pattern is the night before Christmas in the pinkish red colored transferware.
Beautiful items!! The stemmed glassware was offered by Arby's restaurant years ago. I had to laugh...when I saw the snowman salt and pepper, I knew I would have had to move it to the table with the snowman dishes!!
Paula, what a great video! There are so many items here that I would have been tempted to purchase also. The green candles, the David Carter Brown plates, the urn, the linens... your Thanksgiving tablecloth is just beautiful. The 12 Days of Christmas cake stand would have been great for a charcuterie platter too. The prices are just unbelievable and what fun when you never know what you are going to find. I share your thoughts on honoring the Thanksgiving holiday - a simple and beautiful day with loved ones. Save me a seat at the next glassware/dish therapy meeting - I need it too!
Thank you Mary Beth! I so wish I had picked up that cake stand - it was so pretty! And I will definitely save you a seat at the glassware/dish therapy meeting - LOL! I will also save you a seat at the table for a drink using those same dishes and glassware. We can support one another in our "addiction"! :)
Well Paula, I loved so many things you showed us in your Thrift shop. Our charity shops just don't have beautiful things like this. I would have definitely picked up the little red plate and some of the glasses and urn. I've made some decorations and will start decorating in the next week. I enjoy seeing the decorations beforehand and then get everything down in time for a clear and clean new year. Have a good week. X
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I love the process of decorating and doing it a little at a time makes it all the more enjoyable. Happy Thanksgiving 🥰
She’s correct. My mother collected the wheat dishes and they came in Duz one piece at a time. I just got rid of them as I never cared for them. And you see them in every thrift store and a poor seller. But they were maybe from the 1970’s?
Paula, it would not do for us to go thrifting together...we might need a U Haul.:) My favorite thing was the vintage table cloth that your sister sent to you. I love vintage table linens. I just got a new dining room table that will seat 8. It came with felt pads as well! And I got it at a consignment store. Table, pads and eight chairs for $999. It looks as if it has never been used!! But now I need to find some bigger table cloths. I usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving as well but I have painters coming to paint two rooms and I have to move everything so I decided to just put my fall things away. I agree that Thanksgiving is a fun family time and should not be hurried! I am going to the thrift store tomorrow to see if I can find some Christmas treasures.
Arlene - we could do some damage together couldn't we?! I bet your table and chairs is beautiful - and what a great price! I am always looking for the perfect table - I know one day I will find it! How was your thrifting trip? Did you find any Christmas treasures? Happy Thanksgiving!
About your soapbox, this year it seemed even more like Christmas started before Halloween was over, and it seemed to me more and more that people must be skipping Thanksgiving. But then I realized, it's just that we've become so much more of a GLOBAL viewing society thanks to the Internet and there are actually very few countries who have a national Thanksgiving day. Only 7 countries. And for some of those their national day is before Halloween! For example, in Germany and Canada it is at the beginning of October. I think, for the citizens in the USA we need to remember we participate in a global culture now and we need to decide for ourselves how or if we are going to put more cultural or societal recognition on our national status or our global status. I hope we never stop celebrating Thanksgiving and national patriotism too. It's something we must teach our children to cling to.
Thank you! You make some excellent points. Everyone has to determine what’s best for them. I happen to love Thanksgiving because it’s whole point is to be thankful for our many blessings - always a good reminder. I taught for many years on the Canadian border of Vermont and lots of families also celebrated Canadian thanksgiving in October. I love the Christmas season as well - each season has its own beauty and joy! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours 🥰
Great video Paula!!! I agree with you about enjoying Thanksgiving, before moving on to Christmas. The Fall tablecloth is gorgeous!!! I'm a Susan Branch fan too. I love that Autumn cookbook. I would not have been able to resist the David Carter Brown dishes!!
This was the first time I've seen one of your videos and I so enjoyed it! Everything you found was beautiful. I especially loved the Seasons Greetings glasses! I agree 100% with your thoughts on honoring the season and letting Thanksgiving be the focal point right now instead of rushing to Christmas. We took our kids out trick-or-treating this year and when we got back to our house, our neighbors had flipped on their red and green outdoor Christmas lights! I guess they think the Christmas season ends on Halloween night. I adore Christmas, but I also love the fall and Halloween and Thanksgiving and just want to enjoy each of those on their own. It already seems to speed by as is. It seems like there's some sort of panic or competition out there with getting Christmas decor out. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, I agree with your "soapbox." Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much and I’m so happy you found our channel! Every season has its own beauty and joy - I’m nature and in life! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Just discovered your channel and had to comment to let you know I have those same Seasons Greetings glasses! If I remember correctly they were free with a drink purchase from Long John Silvers in the 1980’s. My mother had at least 6 and I picked up a few more at Goodwill for 50 cents each about 10 years ago. They originally had gold trim around the rim, which my mothers set still has because they never went into a dishwasher. They are my favorite drinking glasses.
Welcome!! We are so glad you found our channel!! I also love these glasses. It’s so fun to find out they were giveaways!! I hope you’ll subscribe and join our little UA-cam “family”! 🥰
Glad to discover your channel.... happy holidays from the Midwest... I’m also mad for plaid .... also have four sisters with a flair for decorating and thrifting. 🍃🍁🍂
Welcome, Joan! I am so happy you discovered our channel and are enjoying it! Four sisters!! How fun - sisters are definitely a gift! You can share the channel with our sisters! The more the merrier! :) Happy Holidays to you!
I'm on that soapbox with you about Thanksgiving. It seems as if we're pushed through the individual holidays due to retail marketing. I just saw a video with a Thanksgiving table set in all Christmas decor and dishes! Anyway, love all your finds. My favorite was that fall tablecloth.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! There is no pressure - other than the meal - which I truly love to prepare. It is just about spending time with loved ones and appreciating our blessings!
I'm so jealous of your beautiful local thrift stores! There's nothing like this in my area.... I'm so sorry you didn't get some of the finds. I would have bought the Carter Brown dishes and the West Germany mug in no time at all! I've been looking at Xmas dishes, but they are not very nice looking and super expensive for the quality. And like you, I also refrain from skipping seasons and go right into Christmas. I love Fall and all the beauty that it brings us. Hope you and your family have a warm and happy Thanksgiving!
I soooo regret not getting the David Carter Brown plates!! But I did get the mug at least! LOL. I love to enjoy every season for the joy and beauty it brings. Time goes by quickly enough without rushing it!🥰. So glad you enjoyed the video.
I love to thrift for Christmas decor - you can find some beautiful things at great prices! What was your favorite from today's haul? And when do you decorate for Christmas?
That McCoy pottery bowl, “two dollars,” I would love that bowl. The way you love glasses I love bowls. Oh dear…
Loved your video. Cheers from Australia.
Cheers to you in Austrailia! The two of us could have some fun together with our glass and bowl "problem". Thanks so much for watching! XO
❤❤❤❤❤
Awwww …. Thank you! 🥰
XOXO
My mother also had the Golden Wheat pattern. Seeing it brought a smile to my face.
Thank you so much for watching. The wheat pattern is a beautiful pattern and enjoyed by so many. XO
Paula, I was raised in the Deep South and my mother collected the Golden Wheat pattern dishes. They were found in boxes of Duz detergent as an incentive to buy the product. "I have a glassware problem...: LOL
100 percent true!! LOL
I have some of the Pointsetta dishes…so gorgeous
I loved those dishes!!
brooches are definitely back
Yay! Now I definitely need to look for more of them! :)
Very nice ❤
Thank you! Cheers!

plaid is my favourite colour!! love the tablecloths-a weakness for me along with glassware......
We are definitely kindred spirits!!
WOW - LOVE THE MCCOY BOWL AND FOR JUST $2 - WHAT A DEAL!
Right?!! I could not pass it up!
I agree. I like going thur each holiday. I love dinning wear an Tea pots!!! Don’t get me started on glass. Love your show!
Thank you so much!🥰. Glassware is a problem for me! LOL

I love those glasses!! So festive!
I’m so happy you wait to film your Christmas decor until after thanksgiving it seems like fall gets rushed your channel finds the best thrifted stuff
Thank you so much!! I really love the fall and Thanksgiving and want to enjoy them as much as I can!
Can you do a video how you store all you beautiful finds?
Hahahaha .... I need a twelve step program! No joke! LOL
Paula, I would love it if you could sometime do a video where you demonstrate how to use a flower frog… I have always passed them by but since you love them so much I would love to be educated by you. Thanks ❤
I will absolutely do that!! Great idea!!🥰
I agree they don't give time to enjoy thanksgiving.
It is one of my favorite holidays - so I like to give it its due! :)
I have a cup from the wheat pattern, belonged to my aunt and then my mother ended up with a few of them.....I remember those dishes from Sunday dinners at my aunt's house as a kid and I'm 56 now, so that cup is older than me.
I have the Seasons Greetings glasses also. They are old, as I found them in my house when I moved in 20 years ago.
Love all the stories about people collecting those wheat dishes. It is so fun to hear everyone's memories about them! Thank you for sharing yours!
I love those glasses! Do you use them at Christmas? :)
yes ma'am!@@relativelyrefined
Enjoyable video!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🥰
I’m with you! I love, love, love Thanksgiving. Let’s not rush things.

We still have a Foodland Grocery Store in our rural town in the North Georgia Mountains! ❤
Thanks for sharing your super finds with me. My I wish the thrift shops in England had good finds but sadly no. Catch you next time xxxx

Such a wonderful video!!! Lots of heartwarming memories!!!
Thanks, mom! xoxox
After your video with those David, Carter Brown Halloween mugs, I am mediately went on eBay and bought myself a set of four! They are gorgeous🥰
I love those mugs! I’m not sure what it was thinking passing up the plates! 😩. Hopefully I have learned my lesson after this trip! 😊
We just moved into a new home we built over the last year, and I heard you say you were looking for the right dining table; we just received ours from a company that originates from Vermont called Pomponusic Mills…they have amazing solid wood pieces….we also purchased a sideboard as well. What an attractive store….great displays!
They do a great job with their displays at that thrift store! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed your haul and craft at the end. You find wonderful treasures. Everything was so beautiful. Until your next video, take care.
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video!🥰
I found two of those Season's Greetings cups at my local thrift in CA and snagged them. I'd love a full set!
They are such fun glasses aren't they? They look so retro to me! :)
Beautiful thrift store! So many lovely holiday treasures. I am addicted to dishes and my Christmas pattern is the night before Christmas in the pinkish red colored transferware.

Hi Justine-
You have no idea how I regret leaving the David Carter Brown plates! Live and learn ….. I hope!🤣

Great finds!
Thank you!
