Lead vocalist and guitarist for Australian 80s synth pop band Real Life, David Sterry, performs his bands major US hit (charting twice, in 1984 and 1989) 'Send Me An Angel'. The clip is excerpted from the 2006 Melbourne concert 'Countdown Spectacular', a reunion/nostalgia show celebrating Australia's classic music show on TV during the 1970s and 80s.

I love the song! Dave sings great! God bless Dave! No matter how old you get your song will always be a famous song to me! I'm a Christian Baptist! So I love God, Jesus and the holy Spirit amen! I hope you know who Jesus is! Most of my life I did not know Jesus! When I turn 22 that's when I really found out who Jesus was! Now I'm 36 years old and I go to a Christian church Baptist woodcrest Baptist! I have been baptized! I'm a member of my church! And I help out at the church anytime they need me! I also love learning CPR and first aid! About 4 years ago I had saved a teenager boy who was drowning at the YMCA! I did not have to do CPR as I thought I would! He is alive because of me! There were 3 3 lifeguards on duty that day but not one lifeguard even a tent to say that teenage boy! After that day I had told a friend of mine who was a firefighter! tommy hu I hope you see this. Your daughter Melanie would be about 8 or 9 now right? Is she still a fan? How would she like to speak to David Sterry himself? He'd love to hear about this :- )
Fwiw he was really quite sick here, took a lot to get him to perform. This voice and performance? It's not even a touch on what he's like usually and how he sounds today.
His voice is slightly deeper (he's 62) but so perfect that even phone footage of him singing David Bowie with Absolutely 80's (Group of music legends that toured from this gig onward) is STILL amazing.
Live in the flesh? What can I say - it gives you goosebumps.
Apologies for length but I would be more than happy to introduce Melanie to David, he'd be incredibly touched, trust me. Very, very funny and cheeky man, quirky and can be a bit naughty (why we love him lol) but he's also the kindest and most humble man you could meet, he's very approachable and if Melanie wants to talk to him thn let me know.
