- Real Life official video for the Australian release of Send Me An Angel '89. The US version was a reworking of the 1983 video where they edited out original keyboardist Richard Zatorski. Real Life had released Send Me An Angel '88 before they remixed and re-released it again in 1989. This version reached No.51 on the Australian Top 100 chart but got as high as No.24 in Melbourne.

When I was a kid in the 1980s my older sister played MTV 24 hours a day and one summer this song played every 15 minutes. I never got tired of it. This song is the most nostalgic song to me ever. Then it was played in one of the best scenes in one of the best movies of all time-Rad.

They are indeed both Melbourne boys, this was filmed in the chapel at the brother school to my all girls school in Melbourne in 1989, so I was about 12.
I always thought they were an Italian Italo Disco band.

I go back to that time and era every now and then I go to a place by my self a certain place when I was a kid when this music was playing I catch up on my memories, of course didn't have no one to share this with back then was always boring and an outsider to people so
I just had me I learned to love me and the music moved me. At times I felt disappointed that I had no one but don't feel like that no more I understand that true love with someone and of course with friends is an illusion. Now today if someone that they call special try's to talk to me I strug them off cause they were never there in the beginning don't matter how good looking they are like I said it's all an illusion. What I love about this song is that it is such a new wave, synthy pop song, but then the lead singer comes out with this killer guitar solo that is totally at odds with the genre but totally works!

Enjoy it , it goes by quickly , one day You wake up and You realize that You are no longer young , and then You spend a lot of time telling "youngsters" to appreciate it , just like "Old Timers" told Me when I was young .....
I'll be honest, I've always felt I was born during the wrong decade JUST WISHING I was born in the 70s or 80s but I'm sure when I'm older I'll look back at this time and wish I could go back.

The 80's music was great, it was the perfect marriage between rock and pop; and there was a lot of artists with incredible voices.
Today's pop is so electronic and generic, and most of it with poor voices and that autotune BS, and a lot of girls shaking their asses.

I remember recording this off the radio and replaying it over and over on my boom box!! Loved the 80’s!!
And hoping the radio announcer didn't talk over the ending of the song.
Words that young people today wouldn't understand: "recording this off the radio" and "boombox." But they take me back to a simpler time!
Not only was this one of the greatest hits of the 80's but it's one of my all time favorites!!! I know I'm not alone in saying that it's really sad that we will never have great music like this again. I am lucky in that I was a teenager in the 80's and I got to experience this AWSOME music first hand as it was produced!!!!!!!

This is an incredible 80's song. I have just been blessed seeing Real Life play live in my home town in Melbourne, Australia. It was a fantastic set. They have so many good songs. But I never get sick of hearing 'Angel'. David Sterry is an amazing singer still,. & can play mean guitar. I highly recommend seeing them if they are playing live in your country.
Good post. Great song then and now. I played in a band with Kent Steedman's (Celibate Rifles) brother way back when, here in the U.S.
I probably couldn't afford a ticket if they did come to florida for a concert. Concerts are just about priced out of reach for most people.
