Rest In Peace Kirk. He was the boxer that pricked my interest in the sport. He looked like the blokes I’d see walking down Brixton front line as a kid growing up in the 80s and I became fascinated. He intrigued me from then to the sad end. I hope he is now at peace 🕊🌹
Good fight and great stoppage by the ref. In that last round Laing kinda stood there. If you look at later boxers like Naseem Hamed. Naz had the punch, the movement and was more an entertainer.
Just loved wrong life hanging around shit people in and out bookies religiously at the back of Hackney Downs so sad just got used up by Duff and Co wasn’t smart enough. Only one winner in boxing promoter end of
They sparred together when they were both part of the Lawless stable of fighters. Apparently Laing would get the better of things. But at that stage in their respective careers, he was more experienced than Honeyghan. They were later both managed by Mickey Duff and he would let them fight each other.
Remember seeing that live on ITV Saturday afternoon 1986.Very rare did you see brutality on your goggle box(no flat screens back then) but that was a quite a vicious fight. Both scousers going at it,Kelly won i think.Tony Brown is now in jail for murder
The Gifted One who will be loved and missed by so many for sure.
Rest in Peace Kirkland and thank you for the memories x
Grew up watching Kirkland as a kid. Used to marvel at his style. Thanks for the memories Kirk, rip.

@@bigdaddy4069 just the other day :(
@@saimak7079 Yeah caught up with it all now.
All that attention and he ended up on park benches etc, life makes no sense sometimes
I was at this fight standing next to Denis Andries. Kirkland was at his brilliant best against a very good fighter in Rocky Kelly.
You have brought back a memory with Den?is Andries.
I'll get back to you.
Rest in peace Kirk 🙏
I remember watching this on grandstand !!!
So happy to see it again.
I remember Steve Watt dying after a fight with Kelly before this.
Steve Watt is my brother, missed so much!
@@Al-ek5vf I was just getting into boxing then as an 11 year old and remember it very clearly.

The Gifted One lived across Victoria Park in Hackney from me in the mid 80`s . RIP KL .
The Lonsdale belt is the best looking belt in the world.
I heard Laing was found spaced out on the floor in the morning of this fight.
Yeh true story that haha. That’s natural talent for ya. RIP the gifted one
I believe that, some of his punches missed the target

Honeghan..Kirk Primes?
Who wins?
Paul Sykes would have battered both of these boxers
Sykes was a heavyweight, these two boxers are welterweights.
What a bizarre comment
@@petecernan2568 He would have knocked them both out at the same time with one punch.
What's bizarre about that?
