Stewartstown links up with ncry. makes me think that can do some kinda bundle at some point like buy a ticket to ride the Stewartstown you can also ride the ncry as well
Thanks big Jim for coming out to video the inaugural run of the open air car and I am glad that I am in the video with my conductor uniform on it shows that how professional i look and it's train service with a smile
Your video is very well done. Based upon this, I've added this line to my list of things to do and see next time I'm in PA! I understand that they have an ancient bridge on the line.
Speaking of that "ancient" bridge... www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/friends-of-stewartstown-rr-campaign-is-raising-funds-to-resume-rail-service-over-historic-bridge?fbclid=IwAR3TUGy7Y3Xmz0TT0EMcvPRoE6-WKI8Sd9igcnO8_QreY706Rkj111xCiFE
Model Railroader magazine did an article on the Stewartstown RR back in the 1960s in their "Railroads You Can Model" series. Back then they had two plymouth locos, Mighty Mo and Little Mo, which was a smaller engine as the name implied. The RR was doing a good freight business back then before Hurricane Agnes hit the area in June, 1972. Glad to see the little road is still surviving to this day.
If interested, the 2019 schedule is out - it's mostly finished, although there may be another special event or two added on later in the year... www.stewartstownrailroadco.com/train-rides/
Very nicely done. Really enjoyed it. It's amazing what volunteers can accomplish. Sure would like to see a more appropriate horn on the engine though. 😀
Great video! Very interesting railroad. How far does their whole existing line go, and are they planning on using more, if not all of that track in the future for standard train ride operations? I've seen a few videos of speeder excursions far down the line, and one of their past center-cab switcher on the same trackage.
They are planning to use all 7.4 miles of line for standard train ride operations - just depends on time, money, and volunteers to work on extending the restored track for the regular trains. The speeders do still go down the line (see the video I just uploaded) but not yet for the big trains.
They actually had done some weed spraying a few days before, but it takes 10 days to really take effect - which hadn't yet taken place. I went a few days ago and the ROW was much better in many places.

Something I think I've suggested to them in the past...but I may not have.
Love that little plemont it's so cute
Thanks! I have a soft spot in my railfan heart for Plymouths as well, I believe.
1:55 That horn sounds exactly like an european steam engine horn, it is exact the same. Does anyone now why?
I wish I could tell you, unfortunately I'm not very good with identifying specific horns/whistles...

It was a great day for sure, and I look forward to coming out again!

They do! If you watch towards the 3/4 mark of the video...

Indeed, Mighty Mo is still around and running. Little Mo is, I believe, up in New Hampshire...

what a beautiful car. Great video man!
Thank you very much!
No problem. You do a fantastic job as a rail fan. Keep it up!

Jason Rose that's an original whistle on that locomotive she's historically correct
Ed Carl Thanks, Ed. I didn't know that. Historically accurate is good enough for me.
Thanks Jason!!
That's a very lovely railroad, I wish I could volunteer.
You should! It's a great place...and they need as many volunteers as they can get.
Big Jim Video Productions I would 100% would but I live in florida.
I like that blue truck
Oh yeah, that is indeed pretty cool!
They should cut the sides of not all the way through to make narrower
Cut the sides of what?
@@Bigjimvideo the train
Nah, not really feasible to do.
There's no mistaking the Union Pacific heritage of that caboose.
Indeed, that's a former UP caboose!
Nice video Jim love the narreration hopefully you can narrator one of the Everett next time your down at the railroad good work as always
Thanks!
Big Jim Video Productions your welcome jim
I love what you all have done, but definitely not a “class 1” railroad.
Its a slow process to get them there...

Need to get a mower out there and cut the weeds so you can see the track!

>class 1 standards
Pretty sure by "class one standards" it's no better than the rest of the road.
It actually is much better...
