Like the guy above you said Suaalii is taller therefore he has even more duty of care trying to put a hit like that on a smaller target, he's launched himself, eyes closed, arm tucked and leading with the shoulder his technique is woefull

    I’m a NSW supporter and he did not drop 2 feet. This why CTE is being looked at. Gal that is not 2ft, he barely dropped inch. There was no intention to hit him in the head, just a bad tackle.

      I still think it’s a fair send off. Especially QLD losing their X factor player.
      People think because of the magnitude of the game, it was not.
      But man I only have to watch the rugby World Cup and think of the soft send offs the all blacks got. That is 1 game every 4 years lol
      I know I know, different code, but read between the lines.
      I say give him enough weeks to be eligible to play the 2nd match in Melbourne.

    2 foot? There is no way Walsh dropped his head by 2 feet. Walsh's head barely dropped at all before the moment of impact. Plus, Walsh is not that tall to start with, and Suaalii is much taller. Thurston is right. He should have lowered his shoulder just like Liam Martin did. Especially since he decided to lead the tackle with his shoulder. Everyone knows that when you lead a tackle with your shoulder, you can smash someone. It's the defending player's responsibility to not take someone's head off. Gallen needs to get his eyes checked 😂

    He took a risk, and it didn't pay off. His job was to pressure not launch himself like a cannon into a player. Stop taking the accountability away from Suaali. NSW always spends more time trying to put on big hits than playing the game.

      @@Macca852 Listen, big hits are part of the game. Always have been and always will be. It was a very unfortunate tackle, there was no malice he was just going for a good hard tackle and it went wrong, primarily due to Walsh slipping. You should put a dress on and watch netball.

    He didn't drop 2 ft Gallen. He is lucky he did slip or else he would have copped it in the throat and that could have killed. Cleary Walsh is being targeted. First time he was tackled in this game it was late, 2nd time he was tackled Liam Grub Martin tried a late elbow chop, 3rd tackle they knock him out.
    That's the only way they can stop him.

    Seriously if the nrl don’t start protecting Walsh because it’s 5 times now this year he’s been hit in dirty play. If they don’t protect him Walsh will be retired in 3 years with major medical injuries. All because coaches are telling players to target him in dirty play. That will cost the nrl millions if not hundreds of millions over 15 years where every kid wants to be Walsh, every woman wants him and alll the rusted ons like us love watching him.

    It was more so Reece bracing himself by leaning back, rather than a slip... Keep in mind that tackle from May weeks ago would still be haunting him and would now affect how he goes into tackles in the future..
    It was def a send off.
    They should change the rule when something like that happens, send that player off.. wait 10minutes before you can replace him with 18th man..
    That call ruined game one...
    I'm a Qld supporter and I wouldn't mind if they replaced Sualii AFTER 10mins of sending him off.. it keeps the game going

      @tremainemulitalo9371 if you reward the offending team with replacing a red carded player with the 18th man, every team would take the loss of an average player sniping a team's star player. And every 18th man would be an upgrade on the sent off player. You haven't thought this one through.
      Origin is about seeing the best of the best. No one wants the best players purposely injured, only to see the team with such tactics reward after 10 mins.

    It was a bad tackle, no doubt about it. Sending off... absolutely. He didn't even try to wrap around him. It was all shoulder, ALL SHOULDER. Intent is the argument here, and that will never be proven. Gallen...... well, he can't speak as he is no stranger to bad tackles himself.

    The sad thing is that walsh will be getting more of these hits due to his role in the block play. Imo walsh saw the jam and try to lean back to avoid major contact which is a natural reaction. But hes gonna end up like Ponga.

    I'm sorry but that was the biggest dog act i think i've ever seen in rugby league let alone state of origin. So much so that i wouldn't trust playing on the same field as sualii ever again after that. it's unhinged. We lose arguably our best player for the whole game (could've been worse could've ended his career) and he only sits in the bin for 10 mins. i think he should be banned from any representative teams for at least 2 years.

    lol the NRL proving how far behind they are compared to AFL.. the way the AFL ruled out accidents was the “intention” - if you bump and make head contact accidentally, it’s still intentional so he gets rubbed out. Gallen arguing accidentals, so a team misses a player for 2 weeks and the other gets to play because he accidentally almost ripped his head off? 😂 give me a spell

    Gal is right… when guys are running in and the ball carrier drops height, what can you do? It’s impossible to adjust… looks bad in slow motion when something like this happens, but they need to take into account if ball carrier drops their height.

    Obviously, origin is a different beast. Paul Gallen is crying like those in the NSW Blues Hive mind - making excuses and not getting on with the work. JT is spot on. "Lower your target".     I reckon the issue isn’t the high tackle, because Reece slipped down to the tackle, but the fact that suaili didn’t wrap and hit Reece in the head is what sent him off.

      The high tackle is an issue. Sualii was off the ground when he hit Walsh without Walsh slipping he just hits him in the jaw not the nose.
