NSW had a do or die attitude. QLD knew they had a home game still coming up. That would have made a huge difference in their intensity.
Pity because I wish QLD would have shown up with intensity. The prospect of trying to win a rare 3 nil at Suncorp would have been awesome. (spoken as a biased QLD fan of course though).
Exactly right, by the time qld had the chance to pull it together game was over at 34-0. Qld showed after half time they can beat the blues. Gane 3 will be all about who can stay on top and make the most of the chances as they both look evenly matched.

Yeah, but QLD should have known NSW needed to win. As a QLD myself, i was tipping the blues for this very reason. I knew they had to win, and they had the team to do it. Edwards deserved his win, for sure. Legend.

Qld were slow out of the blocks. NSW were full of enthusiasm and desire. And Latrell Mitchell was playing. He's some sort of force of nature this bloke. Unbelievable.

I’m nsw and I agree .. For the last 20 years it didn’t matter who Queensland picked everyone knew their role in that team and attack was always on point. Been a very tough 20 years lol

That 13 tackle set put Qld on the back foot. They were gassed and NSW just never let off. Momentum is something very hard to wrestle back.
and the rest NSW got away with so many infringements while Q'ld had at least three soft penalties and repeat sets against them. When teams are close and one side is gifted 12 maybe 18 points that's the game. And it's good for the brand too makes for a series decider that all will watch. The game is a joke.

Suncorp will boost the QLD stats slightly, but not enough to beat NSW. The Blues side just has a bit more strength, intensity and cohesion this series than the Maroons, which we couldn't see the full extent of in game 1, but certainly did in game 2. Enough of a difference to negate the Suncorp effect imo
Unless they solve their forwards problem and edges problem and FB problem, then maybe they have a chance

If you break it down, the officiating of the game, cause we do not want to talk about the Refs, Penalties & 6 Again NSW, first 20 minutes, QLD on defensive, such high intensity, QLD gassed had no attack, to say NSW had no infringements in the first 10 minutes is a joke, high tackle from Hass, but QLD received their first Penalty 35min of the game.
Billy is such a gem. He not only knows how to play or coach but can handle questions well. The one about referring was handled pretty well, even the journo was speechless for some instance.
Look at the end of the day the Blues wanted it more. As if the Blues weren't going to go into the game fighting hard after what happened after game 1. Talk all we want about dynasties and the 8 years or whatever, that's in the past. NSW won for 21 years straight before Origin was even a thing like we know it today, but who cares at the of the day about the past. The team who wins game 3 will be the one who is the most hungry for victory and fights the hardest for the trophy. All of the other crap is just media hyped up fluff. As a Blues supporter, congrats to QLD for the win in game 1, and the Blues in game 2...and may the best team win 🏆 👍

Before Origin was a thing NSW teams were full of QLDERS it wasn't Origin hence why its not in the Origin record books you can hold onto it all you want but it means nothing and isn't a record in ORIGIN

Just a question, I dont know the techical rules in playing the ball , but I noticed a technique NSW employed that gave them a decisive advantage playing the ball , check it out NSW played every tackle off the mark, making it harder for the QLD tacklers to set themselves for the next play , many times QLD markers seemed to be in disarray. QLD played on the mark.. I think such a tiny tactic had a major outcome in NSW possesion of the ball.
BTW the ref's ignored this big time and I wonder if this is why NSW got so many repeat sets of 6 because the ref's measured the 10 meters from the off mark position instead of the held position. If it is nothing shouldn't QLD play the same way?

@@chantellesariman5921 Probably means pushing forward an extra few steps in the action of playing the ball, so the two markers couldn't get set and they got a territory advantage. The kind of thing that the NRL refs sometimes call out and get the player to go back to the place they were called held.

If your talking about the 6 against in the early part of game then the defenders should have been on the goal line, which the right side defence of Holmes and Coates where pushing up way too early.

You shouldn't have had walsh in the side, 7 minutes of footy in 4 weeks his performance was there for all to see. NSW whole side just dominated QLD across the park. Don't mean squat now, it's 1-1 with the decider at Lang Park
Yes. We will have a decider. It makes it even more exciting. But it's not an excuse to not playing your best footy.

QLD don't care about game 2
Game 3 will be different, trust me, Suncorp is a different beast
If we go by history, the Blues' record at Suncorp is hot trash. That said, I think this Blues team has a lot more focus and determination than the more recent Blues teams, evident from their record breaking first half in game 2. They also looked good for a lot of game 1 despite being a man down so I don't think game 3 will be as straight forward as people think. The Suncorp effect is real but I'd argue this Blues team is immune to it and if they come with the same intensity as game 2, the home ground advantage for the Maroons will be non-existent.
Not a Queensland or Storm fan, was never a fan of Billy on the park but doesn't this man haveca highly intelligent rugby league brain, full respect.

Would agree with that as a Blues fan. If Slater wants to maximise chances of a series win, Fifita needs to be in the squad. I think leaving him out for 2 games sent the message, but that said, DCE missed 2 whole series after his backflip so who knows.

So much of Origin is between the ears; I always fear complacency with NSW teams, as our media down here crow about one game before the series is over; fortunately, we have the Blues Mountains now. NSW wanted it more. It's so easy to see. Just like in game one in the woman's origin series. There's nothing wrong with the players' abilities. It's whoever wants it more determines the outcome more often than not, especially at that level.

NSW is overall a bigger, faster team than QLD's and that's a significant factor. QLD has trouble getting them to the ground in tackles AND challenging on high kicks. At this point home field advantage is all we have unless tactics can make a difference. 🤷♂
