Lifting My Subaru Forester Part 1 - How To

  • I had previously talked about building the Forester in stages. The first stage was supposed to be the timing belt and head gaskets. The tires are no longer road worthy so I have decided to do stage two first. In order to get larger tires on, the lift and suspension were going to need some serious attention.
I know many people would never consider this. I don't blame them. This is a 20 year old Subaru. However, getting something comparable in the long run with today's market isn't going to happen. 10-15 year old Foresters are selling for anywhere from 6-15k and all of them have the same mileage or more. They would all need as much work as mine as well. I'm going to be able to rebuild my Forester for less than buying another one.
Thanks for watching! More parts have already been added to the list. Decided to spend some more money and save my body. Excited about this build, I've been thinking about it for years. STAY TUNED

Excellent, always a buzz putting shiny new stuff on the car. Really like the aluminium control arms, I need to do both front arms on my XV and could be an option if available.

I was able to see my path that lay ahead of me. I've really been putting in the hours to get things done so I can get back to working on my own growth. Either way, the more I get accomplished in the garage or within myself is getting me further ahead. Thanks for commenting!

This is perfect. I'm contemplating lifting my 99 legacy. Can't wait to see it done.

That generation are great candidates for lifting and overlanding. Pretty sure you can buy the same Forester struts I did, fit them to your Legacy and gain just over an inch with just the struts alone.

This is sick, I'm gonna lift my 05 outback next year, heard issues with the ADF kit and Canadian struts so I'll have to dig into that.

I've wanted to lift a Subie for so many years. Watched and read so many good things about the ADF kit that the lift wasn't going to be anything but. Shipping and import wasn't cheap, still worth it though.

hello man, I just bought myself a very good condition Subaru 2.0 xt in silver with automatic gearbox, im gonna get it in 2 weeks, only issue it has is the steering rack leeks so im gonna drive 3 hours without power steering its leaking from one of the tubes in front.

Nice! Driving that long without oil in the pump will wear it out. It will probably still work but won't assist as much. If the leak is really slow try keeping the fluid topped up for the trip back.
