Glad you enjoyed the car mate. Gotta give mad props to Dose Vader (Miles) up at AM auto in QLD for all his amazing work on this car. And congrats to you for managing to fit inside it!
I'm 6'1" and initially had trouble in my '88 Mini, but all it needed was to add seat position extender brackets....and to remove the steering drop bracket a previous/shorter owner had fitted. Now it fits me much better. This video shows what happens if tall and using a stock seat position
Do you find something comical about my appearance when I am driving my automobile? Everyone needs to drive a vehicle, even the very tall. This was the largest auto I could afford. Should I therefore be made the subject of fun, huh?
The first shot at 0:10 makes it look like a forced perspective shot, as if the car is a toy closer to us. Just because the roof is up to his waist haha.
Excellent video. Well constructed, easy to follow and understand and delivered by someone who clearly cares and enjoys his work. Spot on. Please continue to corner this market and improve people’s knowledge.
Couple of things. 1. Tuning Fork is amazing at what he does 👍 2. This Mini is one of my personal favorite MCM mods builds, just looks like it would be so much fun to drive. 3. Lastly watching Tuning Fork drive this car was like watching 30 clowns getting out of a VW bug. Just comical to watch 😂. You guys over at Haltech really know your stuff and seem like a great group of people, keep up the good work 👍
I change gear around 1750rpm. I cruise on the motorway around 2500-3000rpm. The engine red-lines at 4750rpm. Boost kicking in around 6000rpm is a completely alien concept to me. Found this through MCM & Skid Factory; seeing it all transform from two blokes in a driveway to technical videos has been a pleasure, the progression has been natural and much as I try I will never love the whole group of series as much as you all always seem to making it and living it.
Wow this is so hugely interesting. I didn't follow the build in the most detail so getting this summary of the engine is PERFECT. Love this kind of video.
Another epic explanation from the Tuning Fork, if only you looked more comfy in the driver seat. Awesome credits to you Scott for passion and knowledge.
Great episode, probably one of the best illustrations of how VTEC works on UA-cam. Also, love the comedy of proportions, where it looks like you a driving a kids toy car
Thanks Scotty, very informative! [You could've given a constant feed to the VTEC solenoid and done a pull like that, I'm very curious how the graph would've looked like.]
I'm still amazed that you can get in and out of it. This is one of my favorite builds. So much work to supercharge the OG engine, then so much MORE work to shoehorn that B16 in.
When you guys were in Perth last, I was driving home from work through the suburb of BibraLake. I saw this little beast turning right, coming around a round about. As I was heading straight throu the round about, I gave chase and planted my silver TT 300zx to catch up. once I pulled up along side it... I see the Moog's big cheesy smile as he's giving me the 'chop' signal. I knew nothing of MCM at the time... but that's the night where my addiction to your channel started.
Fantastic show. Glad UA-cam found me this channel. Excellent presentation, i learnt something new, the editing was great. Just enough of everything. Subscribed and going to watch through all your vids so i can become a touch smarter.
i love my hondas my whole drving life i owned different vtec engines and different hondas and people always give them crap but you cant say the engineering isnt impressive
This is exactly what I miss in MCM, the in depth on road review of the cars they build. I love MCM and really enjoy watching the entirety of their builds, but in the end, they seem to always miss a proper road review. I love the classic car review approach tuning fork has. You guys should do this with their other cars! Cheers!
Canadian naysayer here. I watched the build and that was a challenge that personally I would not take on. This is a cool little ride and the builders deserve a pat on the back. But with no malice or hard feelings intended. One way or another this car is a .......?? dunno what to say...?..... but still in its own way damned impressive I guess.
I just went to the go cart track with my daughter for Father's Day, and at 6'2" I looked just like Scotty does in the Mini with his legs all the way up
Great informative video Scott. There's one thing I'm sure we all wanted to see though. We saw you sitting inside the car driving with your knees almost up around your ears, and you kneeling at the front of the car and still being taller than the car, But we didn't get to see you untangle yourself getting out of the car. Now that would've been a good laugh. Keep the great videos coming.
You have just changed my opinion on what engine to put in my mini.... currently sourcing a Honda engine now... Best video of seen on the Honda Vtec mini conversion.
These Minis were built less than 10 minutes from where i live. Great cars, great fun to drive even with a bone stock A series in them! Being as your climate is nice and dry, it shouldnt rust, here is another matter!!
Oh man, thanks! I laughed so hard at your driving position, I couldn't pay attention to any thing else. Thanks for just a awesome full belly laugh. keep it up. THANKS!
you're so proffesional. hopefully the next generation will have the same passion as you, then again the next generation won't design cars like these anymore to save the planet
Well done video and nicely explained. We ran a stock B16 VTEC on a E6K back in the days and put down about 135 WHP. Also did a few B18C turbo for street that made easily 650 WHP @30 PSI on at T88. What was amazing is moving the VTEC rpm points would on the turbo set up would make as much as 50 HP increase overall. These engines would turn 10,000 rpm without thinking about it. Of interest is that however great we tuned the cars, a particular ignition system would add as much as 18% increase in torque and HP over the stock ignition system. We would also get the equivalent savings in fuel consumption.
Great video Scott! Would love to hear the engine run (and see a dyno graph) on the larger cam profile over the entire rev range. You know, for science (and lumpy idle :D)
Glad you enjoyed the car mate. Gotta give mad props to Dose Vader (Miles) up at AM auto in QLD for all his amazing work on this car. And congrats to you for managing to fit inside it!
Bet Moog saw one of my videos and couldnt resist plonking a b-series in his mini 😉
Reminds me of this: ua-cam.com/video/xWct_KYGRQo/v-deo.html
Will Scott fit in my honda?
A lot of engine in that tiny bay.
Perhaps he should remove the front seat and sit in the back.
"Something you could drive every day" He said with his knee's around his ears haha
I was looking for this exact comment, including the ears xD
Dude is literally 14 foot
I'm 6'1" and initially had trouble in my '88 Mini, but all it needed was to add seat position extender brackets....and to remove the steering drop bracket a previous/shorter owner had fitted. Now it fits me much better. This video shows what happens if tall and using a stock seat position
this has gotta be one of those days where you wish you werent 7ft lol
Sloppy Mechanics came here to say this exact thing. Glad Denmah beat me to it lol
Sloppy Mechanics haha...no shit..he should do pro wrestling..waY he swinging that camshaft
lol.....he was on his knees showing the engine but he still was taller than the car! ahahah
He would do well in American Basketball lol
his knees are in his chin! lol
Best explanation of VTEC that I've heard. Well done!
I must agree.
Absolutely. Very clear, very lucid.
Thanks a lot!
Do you find something comical about my appearance when I am driving my automobile?
Everyone needs to drive a vehicle, even the very tall. This was the largest auto I could afford. Should I therefore be made the subject of fun, huh?
old Simpsons ❤️
HA-HA
Gary Goddard came to comment it well done sir!
Great call Gary!! Can picture that scene from the old Simpsons episode now....
Gary Goddard lmao simpsons
Nice episode! Gives a far greater appreciation of the whole build!
Fantastic episode, Scotty! Love the longer, "review-style" format! You look like the perfect fit in that Mini! 😅
We wouldn't go as far as saying "perfect fit" but he couldn't stop smiling for days after that weekend.
The first shot at 0:10 makes it look like a forced perspective shot, as if the car is a toy closer to us. Just because the roof is up to his waist haha.
Haltech I think the smile came from his knees pushing up the corners of his mouth😁😁
LOL
Albon it looks like he can drive the mini with his knees lol
Have always wanted to know how v tech worked. You just explained it perfectly!!
Totally agree with you.
There is about 10 million videos on UA-cam about how it works , it's not forbidden knowledge
literally just type in how vtec works lol
@@stakeout2 which videos?...share the link
Excellent video. Well constructed, easy to follow and understand and delivered by someone who clearly cares and enjoys his work. Spot on. Please continue to corner this market and improve people’s knowledge.

Thanks:)
I wonder how big tuning fork is, being a tall dude myself. I believe he's taller than I am :)
In all the years of vtec I've never heard a better explanation of it.
Scott you are an absolute legend. That was an amazingly informative and entertaining clip!
Lord Tuning Fork... Praise be...
How much greese did it take to shoe horn you in there scott?
Scott's becoming quite the contortionist with all the small cars he had to fit into lately LOL
You were squeezed in there big guy 🤣. This is the best description on vtec that ive ever heard. Brilliant.
I change gear around 1750rpm.
I cruise on the motorway around 2500-3000rpm.
The engine red-lines at 4750rpm.
Boost kicking in around 6000rpm is a completely alien concept to me.

This just makes the wait for project Binky so much harder... It's gonna be EPIC....
"Everyone needs to drive a vehicle, even the very tall. This was the largest auto I could afford. Should I therefore be made the subject of fun"
Love the knees round the ears look....and when the VTEC cuts in and that little chassis gives a wiggle!
I didn't realize Scott was such a good presenter. Very nice job, mate.
Bonus points for using a camshaft as a pointer!
Ooof the clutch didn’t like that at 9:20 did it. Great vid though, thanks!
Excellent presentation!
I love the way Scott explains things. Lovely car.
You remind of the tall guy driving a car in the simpsons that nelson makes fun of lol. Great vid, keep up the good work!
Loved this episode! Excellent explanation! Have fun cruising in the Mini!
That Mini Cooper sounds amazing With B16B engine Moog and goes really fast on the road👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 when VTEC kicks in
Really cool video. Came for the MCM mini. Left with a comprehensive understanding of VTEC as it relates to the mechanical components.
Whoa what a seriously great video Scott. 10/10
Another epic explanation from the Tuning Fork, if only you looked more comfy in the driver seat. Awesome credits to you Scott for passion and knowledge.
It's always fun to watch professionals who love what they do!
That VTEC Mini cooper is awesome and going really fast on the Road it sounds amazing when VTEC Just Kicked in
Great episode, probably one of the best illustrations of how VTEC works on UA-cam. Also, love the comedy of proportions, where it looks like you a driving a kids toy car
You call it comedy, Scott calls it "every day struggle"....
Haltech + MCM.... a combination for guaranteed UA-cam greatness!!!
Thanks Scotty, very informative! [You could've given a constant feed to the VTEC solenoid and done a pull like that, I'm very curious how the graph would've looked like.]
Same, i wanted to see how much would be lost (and how much earlier it could have been on the big cam!).
Not only do I love MCM, and everything Honda, but Scotty's demeanor is just cool! Seems like such a humble dude, mad tall, but cool nonetheless!
Nice to see you guys presenting my favourite MCM car in a little more detail.
I'm still amazed that you can get in and out of it. This is one of my favorite builds. So much work to supercharge the OG engine, then so much MORE work to shoehorn that B16 in.
Excellent video that perfectly illustrated the principle and benefits of VTEC. Congrats and keep it up!
Oh god... His driving position LOL
The friendly tuner giant
When you guys were in Perth last, I was driving home from work through the suburb of BibraLake. I saw this little beast turning right, coming around a round about. Awesome video, your presence on camera has improved a lot over the years Scott. Great stuff.
Fantastic show. Glad UA-cam found me this channel. Excellent presentation, i learnt something new, the editing was great. Just enough of everything. Subscribed and going to watch through all your vids so i can become a touch smarter.
You can really hear the VTEC YO kick in on these B-series engines.
Great to see you revisit this car, it's such a special project. Also you are a total giant, which makes this extra entertaining lol. Thanks:)
You can drive it from the rear seat
We actually considered that option quite seriously!
Some people do that and get it engineered for it.
I used to think I loved these Minis, but that driving position and tour bus steering wheel angle... Brrrr. Not sure I could stand it :(
Max_x2 It's a mini. There will be a kit to change both of those.
just metal strips with holes in for steering angle adjustment if i remember.
Love this car, love the build, and love your yoga'esq seating position
The driving position though 🤣
i love my hondas my whole drving life i owned different vtec engines and different hondas and people always give them crap but you cant say the engineering isnt impressive
Excellent video on what is a stunning build. Really humbles me to think about how much work and love goes into a car project like this.
This is exactly what I miss in MCM, the in depth on road review of the cars they build. I love MCM and really enjoy watching the entirety of their builds, but in the end, they seem to always miss a proper road review. I love the classic car review approach tuning fork has. there are 2 occasions where i fell in love with minis. Italian Job, and the Might Car Mods JDM Sleeper Mini episode aka this Mini.
What a great video! You did an awesome job explaining how VTEC works.
I just went to the go cart track with my daughter for Father's Day, and at 6'2" I looked just like Scotty does in the Mini with his legs all the way up
LOL - need to see some pix of this!
Great informative video Scott.
There's one thing I'm sure we all wanted to see though. We saw you sitting inside the car driving with your knees almost up around your ears, and you kneeling at the front of the car and still being taller than the car, But we didn't get to see you untangle yourself getting out of the car. Keep the great videos coming.
Best VTEC explanation Ive seen so far.. by far.
Very well put, easily understandable. We need more of these.
Seeing a 6'5" Tuning Fork in a Mini just maid my day.
Excellent Scott - a mystery explained, and like many others I enjoyed the sight of your good self wedged into that little car :-)
Great car, informative video and super amusing seeing you folded into that cockpit.
The driver's as big a squeeze in that car as the engine! Love the go-kart driving position!
The man that JUST fits into the mini.
No, the video was not sped up :)
Awesome video Scott, awesome Mini MCM! I do want another Mini..
Love the way Scott the sasquatch explains things on these vids. That Mini is such a nice swap, a bit like the Z Cars stuff.....more.
Thanks for the explanation for how the B16 VTEC works, Scott😉
It's like a his & hers camshafts😆
the same principle goes for all honda engines with VTEC :)
One of the very best vtec cross overs I've ever heard!
Oh man, thanks! I laughed so hard at your driving position, I couldn't pay attention to any thing else. Thanks for just a awesome full belly laugh. keep it up. THANKS!
holy crap, was surprised you could fit in it.
This is first one I've watched...great info, thanks so much....now to watch more.
you're so proffesional. hopefully the next generation will have the same passion as you, then again the next generation won't design cars like these anymore to save the planet
Blair actually lent Scott his Moogni? What a legend!
Really good explanation and awesome video man, VTECH YO!
Very good presentation Scott.
With 100KW at the wheels, fun times!.
It was worth it just to watch Scott shoehorned into the mini :-)
This is how long people suffer in small cars
I feel u too mate.
Scott, you would make an excellent teacher.

sounds almost like a motorbike:D This build is just awesome from the A to the E
Great stuff Scotty - really good explanation of VTEC - even I understand it now!
OMG Scotty ! Watching you drive the Mini is freaking hilarious!
THANK YOU FOR THIS. Have a 03 s2000 and love this engine
That was brilliant, great presentation style. More from Scotty please!
I just love the sound of that engine!
"Driving it as an everyday car, perfect!.."
Knees are above dashboard...
Unsure how I missed this upload but excellent video 👍
Seeing Scotty (the gentle tuning giant) fit into the mini is epic
Awesome informative video! Well done to all !!!! BIG UP !
Awesome, never understood how VTEC worked, pretty awesome stuff
Great video and I am very happy to see that the Vtec engagement was tuned properly compared to how Honda do it at the factory.
Great video Scott! Would love to hear the engine run (and see a dyno graph) on the larger cam profile over the entire rev range.
You know, for science (and lumpy idle :D)
I'm 6'5 I totally feel you with that seating position
The b roll footage is beautiful
tuning fork is the best at explaining things in layman's terms.God damn vtec is awesome and i appreciate my mild cam alot more now.
Best explanation of VTEC and how it works, thanks tuning fork
such a potent little package would love to see it carve up some track days B-)
Amazing how the MCM lads got the B16B in there. Even more amazing that tuning fork managed to fit himself in too 😂
Scott...we'll have to lengthen those seat rails and tilt the steering pole for you....but that car must feel like a Go Cart.
