Thanks for spending time to make this video-it improved my black colour printing. One point-in part 1 you explained about taking the 2 screws out, then the green roller assembly pulls forwards. On the left are the wires. When this unit goes back, you have to ensure the wires are kept out of the way. On my unit, I found I couldn't shut the front lid - when I had a closer look, there was a red wire in the guide which was being squashed & the whole thing was not back enough(hence lid wouldnt shut)
My Samsung CLP-315 is quite a bit different, starting with the fact that the parts you worked on are attached to the toner cartridges. While watching your videos I took apart each of my cartridges and wiped down the toner metering blades and it seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for posting this.
I worked 7 years as a field tech for a Konica Minolta Dealer. Your video is dead on for going to the proper section for cleaning. I have this model at home and as you said, it's not economical to put any hard parts into it. I can identify with your ID of "Poverty Labs". Keep up the good work!
You, Sir, are a LEGEND. I too have a CLP-300 Samsung my Mother gave me cos it was printing black feint, followed ur advice, its like brand new now! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! Subscribed and liked.
This is a great video! But my guess is that cleaning the roller made it work better, rather than the roller being damaged. Unless the gunk you cleaned off that top part ended up damaging the black roller. If so, this would be a shame as some day there won't be any more rollers to replace. Do you know of replacement rollers that can be purchased? It seems with this cleaning process and new rollers that these printers can be used perfectly forever. NOTE: Same image unit as Xerox Phaser 6110MFP
Hi - great video and a great opportunity to keep kit going. I followed the instructions and all was good - but on rebuilding the printer it won't get beyond the initial turn on whir then "red lights" - is there any reset like with filling print cartidges needed?
It would be so wonderful if you could give us instructions you feel appropriate for 1. semi hard roller cleaning, 2 hard roller cleaning, 3. soft fuser backup roller cleaning, and 4. the all important Selenium drum cleaning. I will note your use of wood for scraping the blade in your 1st video is excellent as it will not scratch the harder metal surface. That said folks could also use a soft plastic for this purpose as well. Curious, did you see any chunks of hardened material in the toner well beneath the blade? Sure wish you were working on a Lexmark E322, would simplify many things for me.
This is excellent, I have a CLP-300 that I scored cheap with two sets of new toner. which well basically makes it a free printer. it has fade only about an inch in the middle, nowhere near as bad. Going to try this... though an imager is only $70.
I know this is a late reply, but generally speaking that type of issue is caused by a dirty corona wire on the drum. A corona wire is a wire (or a few wires) that run horizontally the length of the drum. Typically, there is a plastic piece attached to the wire on one end. All you do is slide the plastic piece back and forth to clean the wire.
Thanks for these guides. I had fainted black with my clp-350. After following your guides, the situation didn't improve but I noticed that the black blade doesn't get filled (tried with two new black toner). The wheels inside the blade turn but ink doesn't fill. Do you have any clue maybe ? The only noticeable thing I saw is the white gear inside the printer (on the right). The color ones are moving freely but the black one seems very hard to turn. Could it be a reason ?
Ah - got there in the end "transfer belt error" - it was the white connector under the top panel wasn't mating after removing the drum assy - cleave the clips with a craft knife and you can push it home!
Very important: When this unit goes back, you have to ensure the wires are kept out of the way. On my unit, I found I couldn't shut the front lid - when I had a closer look, there was a red wire in the guide which was being squashed & the whole thing was not back enough(hence lid wouldnt shut)
I just used my clp 300 for the first time in quite a few years. It's ghosting the image on the paper with black lines. Also there's a bit of a smell. If I go to try to clean it as you did yours, do you think the smell will go away? Or should I give up on it? I don't really want to give up on it.
Hello I have a Dell 1320c laser printer and the black toner transfer unit was no longer printing black but a dark magenta for some reason. I completely cleaned out the toner transfer unit and installed a branded new black toner cartridge but it is nolonger printing black. Will it eventually begin printing once the toner transfer unit fills up again or is it ruined? I reassembled the unit back using photos I took so I'm sure I put it back together exactly how it should be. Thanks for your time.
I realy admire your prepare to help repair this printer. My clp 300 make a long lines over the paper so i Will try to use your advice. Thank s a lot again. Joze Slovenija
The problem I'm having on a CLP 315 is that the sponge/foam like thing that rolls with the part you are exchanging in the video doesn't deliver toner in a specific area, resulting in a thick white line on anything I print. Do you know why this happens, or what can I do to solve it? Thank you so much!!!
if my colour laser printer is leaving lines across the page at the same spot with all the colours one after another, does the drum need replacing or will a good clean fix this up?
Hi i have Samsung C1860fw i open the cartridge for cleaning now it Yellow and magnet color is not working could you please show us how to rectify this issue
hello, i also have this printer and got it from a friend for free, thus, i've been trying to fix it. I tried doing everything in the video, however, since i got the printer from my friend everytime i go to print it says "replace imaging unit." It doesn't even print the page. I have never got it to actually print a page. Any advice? or just toss this thing

BTW: Samsung's manual calls it the Green Drum too ;-)
I watched both videos: Exceptionally well done. Thanks for posting these.

Dude! These two videos are the most detailed and accurate videos I have ever seen. And that on my birthday. Thank you so much.
You are amazing .the comments and the notes about the little things are professionally stated.
this is the way the pro. instructors did.
thanks alot.

Great video. I have watched both part 1 and 2. This has helped me understand how to maintain my old laser printers very much. Thanks.
Thank you alot, i bought an all-in-one laserprinter with faded monochrome prints for just €40 and now it's worth €400 !
These are my type of videos - save everything, repair and re-purpose its what everyone does in Eastern europe - save the planet!
I did the first fix without success, but this one has sorted the problem. Messy but worthwhile.
Thank you for your excellent video's.

Well done! I bet that wiping down the drums when you swap them helps, more so than the actual swap.. Removing crusty toner and such

AWESOME video...thanks for posting. I am happy to see how easy it is to work on this unit, which I have.
Excellent work, thanks much. One of the better clips on laser printer repair.
