Just want to say a big thanks for providing this video.I have a clp 300 which was printing
very poorly in black and was hardly readable until i tried cleaning the printer blade on the black roller which has restored it to perfect working order.
    Many thanks

I used this Video to do exactly the same repair to my Samsung CLP315, It was the same repair, but because of the new design of the cartridge I was so much simpler. Thank you very much

    Hello,
this is truely a fantastic video. My CLP 300 prints now like it is new, just by cleaning the metal edges. (step 1)
    Thank you so much.
Here 2 additional tips - where I had difficulty :
    1. I did not care enough on the alignment of rubber/foam edges (after 14minutes and 35 seconds in the video) for the yellow and I had yellow edges on the prints - I fixed that and everything was ok.
    2. the plastic feet (after 4:20) are kind of difficult to snap off - it easier once you realize you have to push to the right to liberate the one on the left, and push to the left to liberate the one on the right.

Great video, this helped a lot.
I was about to buy a new printer but found this video, watched it, copied the advice with my Samsung CLP315 (very similar) and it worked a treat. My printouts are now fade free.
Really pleased, thanks for your help... especially just before Christmas!!

    Hi
Used to be in the remanufacturing sector.
The blade on the top applies a charge (thats why it is metal) which is opposite to the charge on the green drum (OPC) and once a thin layer has been applied, the toner is then attracted to the 'green' drum in a pattern layed down by the laser.
The 'blade' is usually referred to as a doctor blade and under the small roller will be another blade called a wiper blade to wipe off excess toner.
We used to clean all non drum parts with iso alcohol but the black roller was cleaned with a cotton pad and de-ionised water then left to dry (use a hairdryer on cool).
The common problem of lines is usually a hair caught in the doctor blade.
very repetitive grey or dull print areas usually means the roller needs to be replaced if you can find a supplier.
Often, as you say, find a cartridge you don't use or one which hasn't been used much and clean it up before swaping over.
    Hope this helps

  • @TerryJonesPrinterRepairs

Good instruction video but at the crucial point you made a Bad move cleaning the metering blade with a Popsicle stick. Use a Clean rag with Turpentine to dissolve the melted bonded toner. You don't want to risk scratching the surface of the blade. The whole cause of this happening is the cheap so called compatible toners people buy online. Genuine Toner Is CPT Toner, potato shaped that roll like ball bearings. Cheap toner is MPT Toner random nonuniform shaped that clogs and melts to the metal blade. If you continue to use the toner that is loaded in the affected developer unit the problem will keep reoccuring in about 500 pages.

Great video and saved me several hundred dollars. I did the fix and found a black line along the right side of the pages after printing a few, turns out I had the foam finger snagged which lifted the plate so too much toner was getting out and accumulating. Once I cleaned out the accumulated toner and re-tightened the screws everything turned out perfect

One suggestion before doing this is just refill the cartidge and see how is does. I followed these steps and it works GREAT! Many thanks for your fabo video.

I had faded black - I just pulled the black toner feeder cover off there was no build-up on the wiper but i gave the toner pickup roller a rub with cotton cloth and turned it a bit each time to rub all of it - then put it back together, It gave a very notable improvement in to the darkness of the black print except near the very edge maybe some of ink in the toner tunnel was lumpy and the process removed the lumpy ink - whatever it helped. And maybe i missed bit cause left edge is still faded but many thanks this did help me allot.

my colour images now look great but now i have black toner along both the left and right side of the paper as well as on the back. i am guessing it may be the Z plates either too loose or tight. also the seal that surrounds the y/m/c plates started to lift. good news i didn't break the seals, i did manage to break off a small piece of footing.

Thank your for your clear, informative post. I used your procedure (from part 1) to repair my Samsung CLP-315W. As you probably know, the 310, 315, etc. uses a different toner cartridge than the 300. But the toner transfer drum and metering blade are quite similar to the 300. In fact, the repair is much simplified on the 310, 315, etc. because the toner reservoir and transfer drum are combined into a single unit.
To perform your repair on the 315, simply open the front cover and pull out the offending toner cartridge. The metering blade is attached to the cartridge with only two screws, and is easily removed for cleaning as you described. The metering blade in my black toner cartridge had quite a bit of "crust" buildup, but cleaned up easily using a tongue depressor, as you suggested.
Your precautions regarding the foam seal are vital (as I discovered the hard way). The blade is held down by a spring on the left end, so reassembly requires sliding the blade (right to left) under the spring as a first step. Then the right end may be dropped into place. As you can imagine, this sequence virtually guarantees that the left end foam is correctly positioned. But, at the same time, it becomes very challenging to get the right end foam properly fit. Your suggestion of using an x-acto knife came to the rescue here, as well.
I had just recently depleted all of the original toner cartridges and purchased a toner kit ($28) and refilled all the cartridges. That task was also quite simple. All of this promises to greatly extend the life of my CLP-315W, (unless something goes wrong with other major components).

Hey bro, how do you repair the wiper blade on the imaging unit. I keep ghost images on my prints. When I open the printer to look at the imaging unit I still see residue all over the imaging drum? I took everything apart and wiped it all down with alcohol. I even took the drum off and wiped everything down. Still keep getting the ghost images. I think it's the drum wiper but I don't know how to fix it, do you?

this printer the clp 300 has been giving me a few problems the fading black being one and a pickup roller that has failed causing doubles or just not working. managed to fix the roller by cleaning w water occasionally. Cost me more to take it in then its worth. I may try to fix myself...but I hope to hear from others that this cleaning repair might work. ...shame that a printer cost so little to buy then to replace the toner and repairs for it. Wonder if the p. jams might have caused problems?

  • @pmg102
    @pmg102 12 років тому

i have a question: your diagram shows clearly why cleaning the developer blade helps, but why does it get clogged in the first place - and why just the black?? does using "compatible" rather than xerox toner make it worse? also, why does swapping the rollers help? is the black roller itself actually damaged in some way? wont i just end up with streaky blue? (admittedly a less bad problem). thanks again dude, you're a lifesaver.

If i want to refill my cartridges, can i just buy any cyan, yellow and magenta colors or do i have to be carefull about that. I am confused because i was told that not all the cyan, yellow and magenta colors are the same. So for instance those colors for an Epson printer are different from those for a Canon printer.

This video you did just saved me having to replace my Samsung CLX 2160. The great thing was my printer seemed to be exactly the same as the CLP 300 you did the tutorial on. My black was fading but after cleaning the blade thing the black went back to being 'proper' black again. I then did all the colours and did before and after test pages and both yellow and magneta looked loads better so I am very happy! If there was a way to donate a small amout of money for your hard work I would!

So I have one of these CLP-300 printers and was able to successfully follow your helpful information
to clean and refurbish in order to get about 3 more years out of a seldom used unit. Yesterday I did the same, expecting to have similar success results, but ended up with thick dark line on L/H/S running the entire length
of the paper. All printing is clear and crisp. I’ve taken it apart 4 times now and no change in results. I thought I’ve been very careful about the foam “fingers” and tried tightening screws (5) and loosening them. Any thoughts or ideas...I thank you very much for the YT posting of this helpful vid. Hopefully you are still online. Thanx for any and all assists., cheers, Bill

If anyone can provide an avenue of assistance, it will be greatly appreciated. I’ve still got a couple of new toner kits to use before I’m ready to purchase another. Hahah, maybe I’m gonna be the ‘problem child’, cheers, Bill

If you manually roll the rubber wheel of the offending color, you can see what kind of layer the blade is leaving on the wheel. It might be a bit thick on that end?
I still use this old printer myself sometimes, and often the first page or two have some artifacts that go away after a while. -Also maybe check if you might have a chunk of toner hiding somewhere on that side of the mechanism.
