Archie is great in this one. 5215 is indeed a watch you will never replace. There is nothing there to equal that piece and its beauty of it. The Pontiff is absolutely right in his response. Guys there are comment by guys who have no idea about watches. They will never know a difference between a Patek annual calendar from a Rolex Skydweller.

The 5205 is my grail Patek. Used to be the 5970 until I learned that the AC is Patek's signature complication. Less is definitely more in the case of the 5205. I also love the modern case shape the most. It's way more exciting than the modern Calatrava and the ultimate PP to get in my opinion. You tell 'em Arch.
To be fair patek also invented the perpetual chrono as well and is their signature watch.
This has to be one the greatest reviews the Pontif has ever provided.

I just traded off a 5146j anthracite dial to get a rose gold white dial 5205, which is so much more of a watch. No comparison as it’s cased up in a master piece of a carriage with those scalloped lugs and concave bezel which really play with the light. The dial is perfect in terms of color, texture, layout & symmetry. 40mm makes it the perfect size as it can be for dress or a daily wearer. Good vid Arch 😂

I love the 5205 range, however if I really have to be picky, I wish it came fitted with the deployant clasp and that the Day and Month apertures were framed in metal just as the Date window is...

5205 & 5396 are the same price and same movement... (in UK) - so no point other than looks. It will likely just waste money. I have the 5396R and love its clean lines...

I think the 5396 is a lot cleaner than the 5205. The way the day-date-month is displayed around the dial on the 5205 is distracting to me compared to the 5396

WTF? C'mon now, the 5205G-010 is pretty basic looking. Not ugly but, boring. If it didn't at least hold its value, I would trade it in. While not in the same class (50 steps down) I have a Gruen 510 (Bond) that I like better on my wrist and reach for more often...

Why do they "use the French " , "whatever the frogs" .....Well maybe because the company sits in Geneva which is smack bang in the middle of the French speaking zone of Switzerland ^^ And also I'm sure over half of their watchmakers speak native French ......Dive into google maps and look for yourself the names of the streets around the headquarters of Patek , no "roastbeef" mother tongue , no "Kraut" names ....Just good honest French catholic names , no corner cutting for sacrosaint protestant profits that ream quality there , that's why they're your grail watches , probably also why Patek's CEO don't send you free pieces uniques to demo , with a warm heartfelt letter telling you to keep them for yourself after filming ......
