Sir Graeme Lamb was commissioned into the Queen's Own Highlanders and served as Commander of the Field Army at Land Command. He retired in 2009.

I am sorry, but I just don't buy, we can do more with less. Let's do even more with more. Human flesh and digital systems alike are susceptible to the attrition of the conventional battlefield.
To think that we can grow like we did in the 30s shows a lack of understanding of the complexity of fighting the modern systems and complex environments, It is not just the case of issuing a bolt action rifle and woollen battledress any more to a civilian and in 6 weeks expecting them to fight,.
France folded and Britain ran for Dunkirk.France lost WW2 from 1919 to 1939 because half the country hated the other half.This man is so out of touch about modern Britain its tragic.Does he really believe that a country that has undergone such a population change would even try to fight.The US has put 17 ships into dry dock as they cannot staff them.

Singaporean here. British will and determination fell apart here in 1942 when they lacked modern fighters and tanks against the enemy including trained troops....greatest surrender in british empire history...actually lose all the way till 1944 in Asia till Imphal where there were air superiority and by then battle hardened troops.
