It's "hatin' ass bud" season. He is fantastic most of the year, but I really think he does like to ruffle feathers and troll a bit. Almost like he gets bored.
Agreed I'd like to think of him and Tom as a perfect pair. He brings the numbers and Tom brings a dose of real world application/eye test to balance it out.
@@marshallatkins1 I think him calling out fan sentiment that people already feel like these games suddenly don't matter is very valid and not something I think Bud is as in tune with given his focus on the quantitative aspects of the game.
Buds Texas take is absurd. They got an early lead against a team with no passing game to speak of. Michigan is barely beating Minnesota in the big house and is a road dog at Washington. Somehow beating Georgia isn’t the best win of the season…come on now. This pod never fails to hold Alabama to a different standard.
How does Michigan “not deserve” to be in the Top 10? Who “deserves” to be ahead of them? Ole Miss? LSU? Maybe Notre Dame? But ND lost to NIU. Michigan has a win over #11 USC.
Why do we spend so much time on the AP poll, which is basically like bragging about your elementary school grades, but scoff at Bud every time he wants to bring up a CFB playoff hypothetical?
What’s so hard to understand about how Bama moved to #1. Look at each resume. Bama just beat Georgia, while Texas beat a Michigan team that looks worse and worse each week and has quite literally no passing game. I bet if the logos were different you’d be able to see why
I would like to say as a Purdue fan 5 wins is acceptable, I just want a fun product to watch. I don’t need bowl seasons every year just stay competitive. The main reason we’re upset with harrell and walters is what Bud said. We aren’t putting our guys in for success, we are out here playing 1 on 1 against MHJ last year and an offense that acts like we have stud WR’s and O-line when we dont. I love my boilers but Harrell had to go.
Texas fell to # 2 because of their poor showing against Miss State AND because of the Alabama win. I am a Texas fan and Texas did not look like a #1 team against Miss State, while Alabama looked really good against Georgia. For once I think the AP got it right based on performance to date. That said, I will be backing Texas against OU and UGA and to win the national championship. This drop to #2 may just be the wake up call Texas needs to get focused. The key will be how good Ewers proves to be in the next two games. There is a reason there is no controversy at QB in Texas. Arch Manning would be starting on most teams but there is no question he is the back up at Texas. There is no doubt in my mind that Texas is the most dangerous team in the NCAA, when they are playing well and focused. However their high powered passing game requires the entire team to be focused. At the Ole Miss game, we saw what happens to a high powered passing game when the team loses focus and does not play well. Texas will not deserve the #1 ranking until they beat UGA soundly.
As a Wisconsin fan, the amount of side eye weve gotten from this podcast, while the first thing Kannell says today is "stop trolling us FSU fans" is just soft 😂
@Sterlingrecruitment-m7p ESPN already started that politicking. I don’t know if you watch GameDay but they’ve been laying the groundwork for any 9-3 sec team to get in since week one. Now Reece Davis is explicitly calling the Big12 a “1 bid league” this past Saturday, and by implication saying the same about the ACC. Realistically each P4 should have at least 2, and the top tier maybe 3. But a 9-3 OU will def get forced in if they’re in 4th place. Only way they’re out is finishing 5th or lower
Highly doubt they are going 9-3, but using the hypothetical that you laid out they still wouldn’t go to the playoffs. Not unless some crazy shenanigans happened in the sec and UGA was somehow not put in. I could see 4 teams from the SEC going and none of them will have 3 losses
Texas didn't move to #1 because they beat Michigan. They moved to #1 when Georgia struggled at Kentucky. So Texas moving to #1 wasn't a product of anything Texas did.
@@ACLTear7 it is correct. Texas didn't jump to #1. Georgia fell to #2. The movement was based on Georgia's performance that week not Texas'. If Georgia rolls Kentucky then Texas doesn't move to #1.
@@KevinBriggins This is such an asinine take, I don’t even know what to say. You’re acting as if rankings are made in a vacuum every week. They’re not. The Michigan win had Texas move closer and get some #1 votes. Once Georgia struggled, voters used all of the data points available to put Texas at 1. You can’t say the only reason Georgia moved down was because of the Kentucky game. If Texas doesn’t have a strong win at that point, they probably keep Georgia at 1 because of their win against Clemson.
@@ACLTear7 this isn't hard to comprehend and I don't know why you're so offended by it. My point is clear and true. Georgia fell because of their performance against Kentucky. Hi, I understand SOS pretty well! The other thing I understand is the wins and losses matter far more. Because, guess how SOS is determined? That's right! By results!
The Alabama - Georgia game wasn’t “even”. Georgia played in an artificial environment for 3/4 of the game. Going for it on 4th down on your own 30 in the 2nd quarter? That doesn’t happen unless you’re getting your brains beaten in. One team dominated at 0-0 the other dominated when they had nothing to lose and 4 downs for the majority of the game.
