- I helped set up a new local blue grade MTB/Gravel route in Nidderdale Yorkshire so here’s a quick ride through of the highlights in snowy spring conditions.

It’s a belter that descent at 6:28 down to summerbridge 👍
My mums smeltbakes and she makes a the cakes
That’s awesome. She does an amazing job!
@@GuyKesTV thank you
Snow and a '99' in the same video. Far out!!
Looks amazing. I see there is quite a bit of on-road, which I am nervous about, can you give me an idea what the traffic is like, is it busy?
Nice edit Mr K
Great video Kes. I won’t necessarily hold you to this but apart from the crossing of the river at four minutes and five seconds it looks like it would be accessible on an adapted hand bike? Are there any other spots where someone on a wider wheelbase and paralysed would run into an issue? It looks like everything else could be ridden. Thanks for the share of the Google map and if you can’t remember exactly don’t worry I will try and check it out.
Ey up mate. Awesome to hear you’re getting out and about. Yeah that bridge would be a ball ache and the ‘ford’ is deep even in summer. You can dodge that section by using the little toll road section further east and that links to the road before the long grassy climb. The descent into summerbridge (6:30) has a narrow single rut at the top and tight gorse bushes too which could be awkward. You can just go down the bridleway straight to Smeltbakes (the rocky, snowy climb in the video) and back up the same way though. Have a look at the Kestrel and Red Kite routes too as they should be hand bike friendly all the way round. Lots of gates though 😬
Hi guy, what wheel size/tyres are you running for a ride like this?
I was on Zipp 700 x 40. Pretty slick but sticky compound and very tough so 30-35psi on rocks is fine.
Excellent video, very informative unlike some here on you tube! I'll ride this trail soon. Thanks 😉
Glad you enjoyed it Graham. Enjoy the ride.
@@GuyKesTV Thanks, I'll hopefully be riding it this weekend Cheers
Great video and route Guy. Is there a .GPX or map of the route to look at? 👍
Sorry for delay Jay, but couldn't work out how to embed a GPX here. Now uploaded to Google Maps, hope that works. www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1fzcNlFr-5idDUe3_qhfvBbZNWfW6d4Q-&usp=sharing
@@GuyKesTV no worries and thanks for the reply, the new drinking game has to be when you say 'spicy'... Happy riding! 👍😁
