- 2000 Light Years From Home
Written by: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards
Sun turnin’ ‘round with graceful motion
We’re setting off with the soft explosion,
bound for a star with fiery oceans
It’s so very lonely you’re a hundred light years from home.
Freezing red des
energy in every part
It’s so very lonely you’re six hundred light years from home.
It’s so very lonely you’re a thousand light years from home.
It’s so very lonely you’re a thousand light years from home.
Bell flight fourteen you now can land
See you on Aldebaran
Safe on the green desert sand.
It’s so very lonely you’re two thousand light years from home.
It’s so very lonely you’re two thousand light years from home.

#TheRollingStones
This, Child of the Moon, Dandelion, She’s a Rainbow and We Love You were five great tracks during their psychedelic phase.
Yes!
I just rediscovered We Love You. Its got a really fun upbeat tone and hadn't heard it in decades.I seen them in 82 in Philly.
Thanks for your suggestions! All amazing!
Don’t forget the wonderful ’2000 Man’ as well from Satanic Majesties album
Lantern, another goody. The Stones experimental phase was incredible
This rates as one of their best. In fact the whole album is a psychedelic symphony. No one makes music like this anymore.
One of the best psychedelic songs ever written. Absolutely outstanding ❤
You haven’t heard not to touch the earth by The Doors
@@deepthoughts8393 Of course I have heard it. Another great song by another great band but I prefer "2000 Light Years From Home".
This is a great song but may not be the best. There's a whole lot of the later Beatles, Floyd, Doors, and Tull for psychedelic music. Tomorrow never knows, Lucy in the sky, Strawberry fields, my wild love, Time, Echoes, Pigs, Heavy horses, In da gadda da vidda, ju to name a few...
Yea “best” is subjective So I understand it’s your opinion. The examples others cited are more examples of huge, mainstream million dollar bands. Of course there were hundreds of amazing “psychedelic” tunes that are at least on par with “2,000” that never get mentioned. The Human Zoo, Kusudo & Worth, The Rabble & The East Side Kids are all bands that played psychedelic music back in the day. Although I share ur opinion, 2,000 is a fantastic tune. Love The Stones!
@@deepthoughts8393 Nothing left to do but run run run
One of my favorite songs by the Stones out of this world what a journey.
True. This song is in my top 5. Something special.
1967 - Incredible period of glorious sounds from the Rolling Stones with gems such as We Love You, Dandelion, She’s a Rainbow, Sitting on a Fence, and this gem.
Charlie Watts and his impeccable drumming. Love it 😍
And yet I've seen him say when they play live they're not following Charlie, they're following Keith... Charlie has to be that damn good just to be able to react to whatever Keith decides to do and make it all come together.
Miss Charlie so much!
True. I think the Stones really ended without Charlie - the soul and backbone. Wow, what a loss-
The album may have been dismissed but this is a psychedelic classic
I believe at the time only 500 albums were sold... I have one...
It actually sold a million in a couple weeks
She's A Rainbow is another

Mick and the Boys recorded a MASTERPIECE
Saw the Stones on stage for the first time in September 1967, and they did play thing song already. Not only is this song a timeless masterpiece -- can you believe the film quality of this music clip that was actually filmed with 35mm film cameras in the autumn of 1967? Furthermore, the reason the footage is so super-sharp is because it was filmed on Black & White negative film stock, not on color film stock. After processing and in the color grading troom, they took the scenes and used a range of color filters and recorded the final product to a color internegative film. The Stones never economized on equipment and technology, they always used the absolute latest and very best. Both with audio and with visuals, such as film and video.
Well stated thank you Frank 🙂
cool comment!!!
Wow that was really interesting! Thank you for all that information. ❤️
It’s also been digitally manipulated and likely AI upscaled, there are obvious selection areas that have had contrast messed with, some smart blurs applied, etc.. This is hardly a pristine analog transfer.
Terrible vocal mixing.
Fantastic. This is the first time this video of 2000 Light Years From Home has been seen in its entirety. It was first seen on BBC on December 21, 1967 on Top of the Pops and was rediscovered in 2013. On BBC4 it was screened in 2016 but not shown in full (Christmas special). Excellent restoration work and adaptation of the original audio to that projected on the original video. Thank you Rolling Stones!!!
Thank you rolling stones and brian jones 🥰😍🤩
I was watching this filmclip for the first time in a cinema in 1969. When Bill Wyman's face shifted into focus, a girl in the audience actually screamed in fright.
I've seen Rolling Stones 4 x and I am 65 now ! One of the greatest bands of all time !❤💙💜💚💯
1957 rocked
You said it john
I envy you !
Did you see them on the 'voodoo lounge' tour? ('94)
@@ronofthesea5953 ron i saw them 4 or 5 times ,i cant remember. I did see the vodoo lounge tour i think gillette stadium . Cant remember the year. Last time was fenway park boston mass august 23/ 2005. Have the t shirt. ;)
As a Stones mad 15 yr old, I especially enjoyed this epic piece with my head between desk top speakers which allowed for the “flying saucer effects” to travel from one to the other right through my head.
I’d say that you can’t beat that.
Thank you, Stones!
try this song ..in da gada deveta ..by iron butterfly
Properly enjoyed although big ass 70's speakers would out rock it. Good show.
@@kieron4169 Will do. Saw them live once and will now apply this approach. Cheers, Mate
Bahaha, I'd been reflecting on my life and had several thoughts & memories about the exact same things this week.....WoW, mind blowing 😧🤪😧🤪
Ehhh, the mono mix is MUCH better. The stereo mix for the album is just all over the place. And not in a good way.
Can't wait, have always loved this song. Was so thrilled when it was featured in MIBIII There's so many great tunes that come to mind, We Love You, Child Of The Moon. Such a great era (and there are many) from The Greatest Rock And Roll Band 😎
Hello, good evening. Only a very little comment : Did you know that on August 26, 2022 the official video for We Love you was released (FINALLY!), right? And in 4K quality!
long life again for their satanic majesties
Such an underrated track. I admit psychedelic music wasn’t the Stones forte but this is truly a gem!
They excelled better at Baroque Pop, as evident on Between the Buttons, which contains many inklings of psychedelia. That said, Their Satanic Majesties Request was their deepest foray into psychedelic music, and they tried doing it without a producer at the helm. They were too undisciplined at the time to fully realize some of the compositions on the album and could have benefitted from having a George Martin-like genius guiding things along and providing some structure and creative ingenuity.
A ok, I just understood why I did not know this song.
Bullshit they excelled their musically when they delved into the psychedelic realm, wish explored this vision further.
Most definitely underrated. Always liked this very much
Nah, its purely rated. Suckie.
That orchestral breakdown is close to Bowie's Blackstar melody from half a century later. I love the tape-echo swoops and oscillator freak outs. And that fuzz bass! Damn.
This was my tune for two long cold dark lonely pandemic winters of circumstantial exile in Finland, so far from the sunny pastures of sweet home Surbiton..
One of the most iconic & legendary bands ever! 🔥⭐💯
One of the best Stones songs of all time. Part of me wishes they would have gone down this psychedelic self producing road farther. I can only imagine how they would have matured in this vein, and more of these kind of gems would have emerged. Oh well, the path they took turned out amazing anyway. So many great songs from this team.
I wish too that they would have done more psychedelic, but I wish they would have had someone to sort everything out better, the album is great, imagine how much greater it could have been.i heard stuff from outtakes and jams from this period that were better than what's on the album
@@calvinguile1315 I certainly agree with your comment. It was their first attempt, so it can't be looked at as really much more than an experimental album. My only point was that if they had decided to continue down that path I think they would have organically grown or at least one member would have risen to that "someone" to sort everything out better. For example, how Roger Waters stepped up/evolved to become the main lyricist and "conceptualizer", if you will, of Pink Floyd once Syd was no longer capable. Roger had more of a motivating factor... produce or perish. The Stones did not have that kind of motivation to pursue growing as a psychedelic band. They wisely probably made the best decision for the band and and their strengths, and the rest is history, but I do like to speculate on what else would have happened had they dedicated themselves to Psych and Progressive Rock, because songs 2000 LY... and "She's a Rainbow" are truly gems.
@@MrLaserdaze for sure, that would have been great, but I think they just had too much going on to really focus, that year anyway they started laying down tracks as early as February, so they had a lot to sort through, like I said with all the outtakes and jams, It was always a fantasy of mine that it could have been a double album... imagine that
@@calvinguile1315 Wow, a double album. Hard to imagine it. Not many double albums are very good. I'm sure it would have been interesting though. You know the more I listen to "2000 Man" over the years, the more it stands the test of time. It truly is a lesser known masterful piece of art they produced on "Their Satanic Majesties Request". I don't think it was seriously considered at the time how much that song would be realized by the year 2000 and beyond. Yet another hidden gem.
My favorite Stones album. Psychedelica at it's finest. Brian's always been amazing
2000 MORE YEARS PLEASE LOVIN THE STONES SINCE '66. 🤟😆
Is 67
one of my favorite songs by the rolling stones...pure psychedelia
Not sure why but this is one of my favourite songs from the Stones. It takes me back to different times I have listen to it.
This classic should have 50 million views by now
No Jones, no Stones ✌🏻😁
Some great Mellotron playing from Brian here..
fantastic track, fantastic mellotron
This track is absolute masterpiece and true brilliant!! Of all time!!! 💥🙏🙏🙏
What amazing times those were...great music coming out every week, artists were into experimentation and took chances regardless of commercial success. The "satanic" album by the Stones was an underappreciated gem
When you're on trial most of 67 this is what you come up with. Captures the isolation.
Love. This song . Synthizer etc . Keith riff. Bill bass. And of course Charlie drums. Saw them do this in 89 tour . Outstanding it was .
Just want to thank Brian Jones for putting together the world's greatest rock and roll band! We love you!!
True!
Agreed!
Urban legend very dated
The greatest R&R band of all time !!!@@Methilde

Yes!! Thanks to whoever is calling the shots to do these old video restorations! child of the moon here we come! :P
Child Of The Moon! 🥰👍❤️
God bless you The Rolling Stones.
Finally we can see this video in all his glory. If the track is a masterpiece of psychedelic era, the video is simply anazing and perfectly conveys the mood of the piece.A milestone in all sense.
The organ gives this a great old sound.
Mellotron. Not organ.
I didn't know this has a promo video! Thanks for this! The Stones and The Beatles 4 life!
It only has a Promo because it was a single in the U.S. in ‘67. It was not a single in the UK.
Know that the Stones aren't a fan of the album this came from, but it's still one of my favorites.
Fantastic the ROLLING STONES best Band of the World Thanks For Posting 👍🔥👍🤘👌🤘👌👉💯♥️💜♥️💜♥️💜💯💜♥️💜💯♥️
It is fantastic. Good to see you, Evi!
Fantastic to hear this classic again!!
So awesome to see this vintage footage! Thanks guys!
Reminds me of an early ep of Dr. Who!
Adds to playlist "songs for the space trip I'll take when I'm a millionaire"🤩
I've loved this Stones song, since it came out, when I was a Teenager.
A rare classic seldom heard but well remembered!

I love the Rolling Stones!!!!
One of these songs that shows why the Stones are still a great band !
Masterpiece
Never heard this song before. Has a good groove.
I am old enough to know all stones stuff yet i have never heard of it either.
An old favorite many don't know is ,,2120 South Michigan Ave,,no vocals, instruments only,, long 12 minutes + try it out,,,
“We love you” is another gem. The Stones spoof of the Fab Four’s hit single, All You Need Is Love. Lennon and McCartney sang backup vocals. In addition, Mick Jagger sang backup vocals on Baby You’re A Rich Man.
I could watch stones archives all day and never get bored.
That’s way! They are The Rolling Stones!! Excellent!!
Awesome mystic&emotive masterpiece, LOVE the dark Groove 🔥 in this
A stones classic. ...
They had such an awesome way with melodies
This should be played at every wedding.
Underrated album.!

La loro musica è oltre da tempo, non mi stanco mai di ascoltare la loro arte perché è di questo che si parla 🥰
Thank you for posting original music videos from the vault - it would be awesome if there was a playlist on this channel of all the promotional/music videos (if they still exist).
Brian Jones added those different textures, atmospheric multi Instrumental
Love this video and song. I hope it is upgraded quality with the original unique soundtrack! TSMR needs some love!
I agree! Good to see you Dan!
This song is a testament to the capabilities of the multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones. 🤩 Without Brian Jones the Stones never again could create the mystique appeal which they had in many songs from the 60s.
And thanks to Jagger he is never credited for anything. Not that that was the worst thing they did to him...
what do you mean by mystique appeal?
@@kubhlaikhan2015 I guess Brian was just too nice of a guy to take him to court.
@@gregdahlen4375 Virtuosity. He could play so many instruments and did! He really was pioneering.
