Incredible confidence by Noel. Writes the music but he's not the front man. Globally televised gig, one of the biggest shows on the planet and your frontman/brother tells you to piss off. What do you do? Cancel, throw your brother under the bus? No, make a polite joke at the beginning and absolutely crush the performance. Legend.
I’m sure I heard Noel say he basically walked on knowing less than a few mini before the gig Liam wasn’t doing the gig. Comments say he was confident but I’m sure I remember him saying because of he knew at the same time as the audience it was on him, he was really shaky about it.
I long for this concert to be released on Spotify. The unplugged versions of "Some Might Say", "Listen Up", "The Masterplan" and, last but not least, "Wonderwall" alone are worth the release. If only the songs uploaded by the users weren't greyed out! Two months ago I tried to upload the unplugged version of "Wonderwall" after dowloading it because I wanted to add it to a playlist I had already made and whose songs are all dedicated to a beloved friend of mine whom I had previously given offence, but by the time it was available, it had already been greyed out and I found myself being bound to leave the Wembley one instead of the version I wanted. I wish Spotify would stop greying them all out because some live versions are far better than the studio ones and it would be great if everybody could listen to them on Spotify instead of googling them every single time. Bloody copyright! Hadn't it been greyed out, I wouldn't have thought twice about putting the unplugged version instead of the Wembley one, which is rubbish compared to this one and that is proved by the fact that the unplugged version is the only song that has ever got me (and, in all candour, it still gets me whensoever I listen to it since it reminds me of what happened that bloody day, I start crying my heart out and my tears won't stop falling like rain).
Great show. Noel has the softer tones required for intimate acoustic sets, where Liam has the rich powerful voice to light up 100,000 screaming fans. The two were a perfect compliment to each other and made Oasis the greatest.
But this wasn't a soft, intimate acoustic set. Acoustic doesn't inherently mean soft and intimate. Liam should have turned up to sing, but at a minimum they should have increased the gain in Noel's mic. He gets drowned out frequently here. I suffer from depression and anxiety but if I'm having a particular bad night and can't sleep then I'll always put this on, his voice is like therapy, thank you Noel 😊

tbh I think Noel needs to get over himself. Liam's voice is unique in a way that Noel's never was - sometimes you've gotta accept that you're a great writer, but not necessarily the best person to sing them

Until 3 days ago had not seen or heard this in years. Listened to it a dozen times since and I have to say it’s still just as FUCKING AMAZING as I remember it to be. Seen numerous Oasis Gigs over the years in person and on platforms like this, and I honestly believe this is by far the best I have ever seen or heard. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for this performance
This boy had something back then. Big time. He put all his emotions in his lyrics. Always said from they came out. They will be remembered like the Beatles when I’m long gone
This is when Liam said his throat was hurting and cancelled last minute. Then he was found in the box seats drinking while watching the show! Classic Liam
And the thing is. I consider this MILES better than anything Liam has very done. so much more emotion in the lyrics. Less whiney and nasal. this band would have been better if they never had Liam. Unfortunately the turmoil between the brothers is what made them huge. People love a trainwreck.
Dickhead Liam. Bottled the show because he can't sing without loads of heavy instuments and then heckles his brother who, quote, "Was dying on his arse". Complete Prick for that!!!!!
I remember watching this air on MTV. Just before the show Noel and Liam were having a spat and Liam decided not to play. Liam was in the upper tier drinking beer and smoking cigarettes watching. Noel went out there and killed it all on his own. Noel Gallagher is an incredible musician.
Indeed, Liam turned up late for the first few practises then stopped coming altogether, he didn't want to do the project at all so noel took it and ran with it. Apparently he wanted to come on for the encore and noel told him to do one cos he'd worked all night doing the entire set.
@@td24gm70 Wrong. He CHOSE to show up to the first few days of rehearsals LATE and DRUNK every time. In the SAME clothes, each day. Same exact shorts and long sleeve shirt and hat. Then HE stopped showing up. No one needed Liam like Liam needs Liam.

The more I read the comments on Oasis videos, the less I understand the divide between Liam and Noel fans. They're both supremely talented and entertaining. Each one brings a little bit of their own personality to their performance. Whether they're together or solo, it always shines.
Between the grunge acts of Nirvana & company and the post-grunge acts of Sugar Ray and Everclear is the genius rock n roll of Noel Gallagher. He outshines them all.
This was epic, I still have a CD copy of it that regularly listen to in car going to work and so on. I am not sure there was ever a better MTV unplugged session. Nirvana and this stand out.

A reunion in an unplugged concert like this with a selection of the tunes of all albums and a couple of new songs (written by Noel obviously) will put them on the top again.
Wow! This is elite as elite can be!!! Far out, NG was crisp and clean!! Nails Hello 1st up, smashes out Some Might Say! Live Forever, big tick from me! Listen up, solid again. Morning Glory, SOOOOO Good to hear NG behind the guitar and vocals, he just hits it here for me!! Round We Are, great version with the mash up with Up In The Sky. Cast No Shadow, this just showcases the class of the great man! Whatever, nails that yet again (what’s new) finishing off with Wonderwall... Class! The improvisation and passion is amazing! NG absolutely rocked this!! Love you mate!! 🇦🇺
These songs were written by Noel! They were sang the way Noel intended as he wrote them! THAT is the beauty of this album! It’s amazing! If only we could see it? MTV must have the original footage? Dunno bout you guys, but I’ve never actually seen this gig!
Cast no shadow sounds epic..... Talk tonight is brilliant as well, just a legendary performance, i remember watching it when it went out, great days👍....
I’ve been an oasis fan from day 1 and I’m my opinion this is the best oasis set ever and it just happened to be on my 12th birthday which makes it even better
Noel did a fucking spectacular job here and it's a recording that will live forever, but a little part of me wonders from time to time what it would have been like if Liam had turned up that night on good form...
All the disrespectful “fans” in these comments man 😂. Just be happy we got to hear this masterpiece from Noel and stop hating on Liam. Without either of them we wouldn’t have had Oasis as we know and love them ! Grow up and appreciate. C’mon you know 🐝
nathan lawson ok Nathan. Disrespectful is telling someone to fuck off because you don’t agree with their opinion. You wrote that to me. Cheers. Everyone is a fan of oasis Liam or not Noel or not. I actually was throughly disappointed that the two gigs I saw , Liam was in the phase of walking off after 2-3 songs and I couldn’t agree more his style of singing is amazing as is Noels. Calm down they are a rock band not a cure for cancer. No need to get so nasty is there? Since you seem so obsessed with fans being disrespectful why not be an example of respecting that everyone can and does have different opinions, instead of writing “fans” In life you can’t carry on like only your way of thinking is valid. Think of it this way. People who take the time to write a comment and look at this beautiful set by Oasis wouldn’t bother or even listen if they weren’t fans. All of us lucky enough to see them live during their heyday are fans , whether Liam was there or not. If you want to hear something funny, when my father back in the 90’s first Heard- Liam sing his comment was this” he sounds like someone has a car battery strapped to his balls” So yeah they’re not everyone’s taste but certainly anyone who has bothered to listen to this is a fan, perhaps you’re their number one fan who can say, but telling people to fuck off because they don’t all see things exactly as you do? You know who is like that? Totalitarians. And as Voltaire said, “ I disagree with everything you say but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it. So go ahead and tell me to fuck off again, I can handle it, and to a fellow fan , enjoy the music!!
I remember watching this and when they launched into “listen up” I couldn’t believe it, such a classic oasis b-side that stands up against anything he ever wrote. Years later and it’s still an amazing tune!

this version of some might say makes it one of most beautiful songs of all times.
So amazed by Noel's vocal performance... he nailed it so perfectly !
I got a big data plan on my phone just to listen to this on the way to work
I remember watching it the first time round and the next day me and my mates knocked off the next day to get stoned and watch it again on VHS
One of the best performances in the history of rock n' roll.
dont look back in anger - the best version of the best song ever
Until 3 days ago had not seen or heard this in years. Listened to it a dozen times since and I have to say it’s still just as FUCKING AMAZING as I remember it to be. Seen numerous Oasis Gigs over the years in person and on platforms like this, and I honestly believe this is by far the best I have ever seen or heard. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for this performance
This boy had something back then. Big time. He put all his emotions in his lyrics. Always said from they came out. They will be remembered like the Beatles when I’m long gone
I personally think this is noels finest ever set some might say live forever and listen up are the best versions I’ve ever heard 👍🏻
There's a reason why Noel is called "The Chief". Period.
Best version of Cast no shadow I've heard. Fucking fantastic and I need it.
It’s outstanding, love the emotion in it
This is when Liam said his throat was hurting and cancelled last minute. Then he was found in the box seats drinking while watching the show! Classic Liam
Drinking - and smoking. Incorrigible. :-)
And the thing is. I consider this MILES better than anything Liam has very done. so much more emotion in the lyrics. Less whiney and nasal. this band would have been better if they never had Liam. Unfortunately the turmoil between the brothers is what made them huge. People love a trainwreck.
@@ericmanske1027 okay
The band wouldn’t have gotten off the ground if not for the two of them.
Dickhead Liam. Bottled the show because he can't sing without loads of heavy instuments and then heckles his brother who, quote, "Was dying on his arse". Complete Prick for that!!!!!
In ''Hello'', MTV censored the word ''shit'' (1:49). Now MTV broadcast Geordie Shore, Jersey Shore etc...
Americans are sensitive to the words shit and god, but its OK to own an Uzi or a Tech-9 mass killing machine....go figure.
FORZACAGLIARI1920 times are changing

Tomias Thexder yup we all think its ok to murder
@@tomiasthexder7673 Sensitive to the word God?.. OMG is their repsonse to anything remotely shocking, over and over and over again.. !!!!!
If the woman at 27:13 hadn't have shouted out, we would never have heard the best rendition of Talk Tonight ever.
He was joking it was gonna be talk tonight
I remember watching this air on MTV. Just before the show Noel and Liam were having a spat and Liam decided not to play. Liam was in the upper tier drinking beer and smoking cigarettes watching. Noel went out there and killed it all on his own. Noel Gallagher is an incredible musician.
Indeed, Liam turned up late for the first few practises then stopped coming altogether, he didn't want to do the project at all so noel took it and ran with it. Apparently he wanted to come on for the encore and noel told him to do one cos he'd worked all night doing the entire set.
@RoyalOak Do some research. Literally do some thinking for yourself, for once in your life. Christ.
@@anotheryoutubed seems a really needlessly aggressive way to say you agree with what I'm saying, I know you think you're saying something different to what I was but you're not. I said the same thing before you jumped down everyone's throats, just look at your replies lols jog on troll, I'm done with you, I have better things to do than feed you.
@@anotheryoutubed wow a bit agressive aren't we!
The more I read the comments on Oasis videos, the less I understand the divide between Liam and Noel fans. They're both supremely talented and entertaining. Each one brings a little bit of their own personality to their performance. Whether they're together or solo, it always shines.
there was no divide until liam came back, people were more chill
Spot on!
@@sweetbunnybun а когда и с чем лиам вернулся?
Remember watching this live. Still fooking awesome. Love Hello!
Clapton, Pearl Jam, and Alice In Chains mtv specials also worth a listen!
@@WillStephensArt second that pearl jams was epically good state of love and trust and black are brilliant far better than on album imho really good
Me agrada.

Es genial Noel, siempre fue mi favorito y tuve el privilegio de ver la banda y luego verlo a él como solista.
Omg...first time hearing this version of Listen Up. Amazing.
Best Some Might Say and Cast no Shadow they’ve played while Liam was havin a crack on the balcony. They played well!
This is one of my favourite albums of all time. Listened to it 100s of times. Proper working hard noel is here..
23 Years last week..still sounds so smooth and soothing in a word of trash music now..
Look harder, there's tons out there and this is a lazy trope people have been parroting for years.
The strings performing the guitar solo in Live Forever is beautiful
Absolutely breathtaking... I go for a run every night and that strings section is uplifting AF
Talk tonight always gets me
A reunion in an unplugged concert like this with a selection of the tunes of all albums and a couple of new songs (written by Noel obviously) will put them on the top again.
They'd definitely have to be doing stadiums - if not another Knebworth. Neither could be an "unplugged" gig, wouldn't work.
Talk Tonight is and always will be a masterpiece!
00.00 what no Liam ???
03.31 who needs Liam
Music perfection here
yes sure, welcome to the planet of the lollypop and the unicorns... Change of drug dealer mate, because that you consume it went off
Lol 😂
Oasis

Almost august 2021 and i'm still here! Thank you very much Oasis!!! Regards from Brazil.
Noel really crushed this show. Talk Tonight was especially good.
Talk tonight is the highlight
I feel like I could get lost in this performance forever. It’s hypnotically captivating to no end.
Wow! This is elite as elite can be!!! Far out, NG was crisp and clean!! Nails Hello 1st up, smashes out Some Might Say! Live Forever, big tick from me! Listen up, solid again. The Masterplan, more than a pass from me (not one of my favs) Don’t look Back In Anger, YES!!! Talk Tonight, wow, absolutely smashed that with some passion! 🇦🇺
Noel absolutely crushes morning glory 🔥
The Masterplan = Masterpiece
The Masterplan with the harmonica is absolutely godlike
O melhor acústico da história da MTV, pela qualidade, pela banda, mas também pelo contexto.
I love how Noel can just do all their songs...which he wrote anyways.
Still jamming out to this in 2024. The performance on Listen Up is amazing.
It should be on Spotify!!!!
The best Unplugged Ever! Oasis on their very high. Best band. Amazing songs.
Listen Up is absolutely epic 14:07
12:52 This version of Listen up is so f***ing good!
These songs were written by Noel! They were sang the way Noel intended as he wrote them!
THAT is the beauty of this album!
It’s amazing!
If only we could see it? MTV must have the original footage? Dunno bout you guys, but I’ve never actually seen this gig!
always gets taken down off youtube but is available in clips of certain songs here or in full on other sites
dvds on ebay with the uncut footage between songs and the second take of hello
Magic. Pure working class poetry. Sublime.
Noel did a fantastic job, its nice and easy listening.
One of my favorite performances.. Noel is the full package👏👏
Totally!
Cast no shadow sounds epic..... Talk tonight is brilliant as well, just a legendary performance, i remember watching it when it went out, great days👍....
His screams are absolutely fantastic.
I’ve been an oasis fan from day 1 and I’m my opinion this is the best oasis set ever and it just happened to be on my 12th birthday which makes it even better
It’s just pure emotion and class hey!
Liam saved this MTV Unplugged. It was a excelent concert!!!
Noel did a fucking spectacular job here and it's a recording that will live forever, but a little part of me wonders from time to time what it would have been like if Liam had turned up that night on good form...
George Harrison: "Oasis in MTV Unplugged was great, because the younger brother wasn't there.“
ouch
I really don't miss Liam on this..
This was the moment Noel knew he’d be fine without the gobshite
Lol did he ever said this??
Funny cause liam out sells noel in the charts and at live shows.
So shows what you lot know.
Although i do love this performance
noel is a absolute package ,a great songwriter ,guitarist, singer and a true melody maker, missing the opportunity being a guy of 90s
Aw dude, the 90s lives within a small window, being a man of the ninety's id say you make the cut.
I listen to it every day and I'm mad fer it! Noel is a BOSS here and this stuff is BIBLICAL!!!
Noel's voice is so good. Listen up 😍
I'm having a rough time but Oasis gives me hope and some light!
You’re not alone. Keep listening
The amount of times I put this on cause I crave hearing Noel sing the bangers 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤❤❤
Too Bad Liam Did Not Make It To This Gig. .. He Later Was Heard Heckleing Noel From The Audience, Noel Said Shut Up To Him. .. Noel Killed It - Great Show !
This is pure gold! Absolutely beautiful. Can't believe this is 25 years ago.
Noel wrote the songs and he sings them just fine.
Far superior to Liam. He just never wanted to be out front...unfortunately. Their feud ruined so much.
