When you put the Oliver in neutral that noise is the throw out bearing. And the multi torq on the Massey is awesome if it’s gruntin pulling a hill or plowing etc. it’s like grabbing a lower gear but never do that down hill it’ll free wheel.
Almost all motoorized vehicles and equipment "ran when parked". That's most likely how they got to their parking space.😁 I think it's rare that an old diesel can't be resurrected from the dead if not stored underwater.
The old farmalls had what they called a TA basically the same way but it was mechanical and in low it would free wheel then in the later models they had a hydraulic ta brakes and clutch they would hold in low unless they were going out but still hold and they had a ta delete kit newer ones with the hydraulics dont still them bc u got one shot on the brakes
Lol my buddy got a for 8n years ago for 300 and we pulled it behind his truck home the nite he picked it up and it’s about 11 at nite an buzzed up an I had to ride the tractor being pulled behind a truck 40 mph and it had no brakes 😂 dam there took his truck out finaly made it home and started to get it running . Long story short we only got it to run one time and found out the engine was burned up an burning quarts of oil . Engine was so beat it wouldn start unles u pop start it behind the truck and it had no guts so we just lit the dam thing on 🔥. Evry other for 8n flat head tractor I’ve used were always burning oil an just wore out . I used one to launch big boats in the water when I worked at the marina an people couldn believe I was putting in 30 ft boats in the water with a beat ford 8n you had to use the pto with this lever you pull on an then hold the brakes an let the clutch out for the 3 point hitch to work . I can’t remember if it was 8n or 9n but it was a flat head 4 cyl engine and I kno the the pto and 3point hitch were diff between the 2 how you use it but the one I was running you had to have skill to use the pto and 3 point hitch when you hat to use them 😂
Probaly the clutch. Really simple to fix a z split. Less than two hours done. Has nothing to do with hydraulics. Everything is basically independent of each other on that tractor. Get a service manual and adjust the pto clutch, if not it come apart

That grinding noise is the transfer case

NEEMER!
I would ck the valve lash on the valves. The noise on the Oliver tractor sounds like the throut bearing. And it needs a clutch. Easy fix.

i got a massey fergusson 35 with frontloader in Sweden. its a renovation job but working just the pait and small fixes. just love my mf35
They are great tractors!
Come to ga- let me fix that headliner for yall!!!
I bought a ferguson 35 gas burner similar to that one a few years ago. It ran almost 40mph on high gear.
Gotta get in touch with Ross the Oliver Man... He can help and tell you anything you need to know about it
That sound on the Oliver in neutral was probably the input shaft bearing, maybe it went out completely
That nois on that Oliver may be the pto not fully kicked in or out or sumthing in the trans not fully in or out of gear .

Fluids are good
Fellas fix the hydraulics and you will have your clutch and gears back. By gosh fellas use the thinker God blessed you with. Enjoy the info
Worth a try, the hydraulic steering and 3pt lift work good still and the pto still works just no gears.
@@DCTV1234 pto don’t work off hydraulics
@@DCTV1234 pto will work with no clutch. When the clutch is engaged to shift to another gear or to put pto out of gear pto loses rpm’s also
