Listening to what you both "got" out, from what was written, like here - always fills the 'lost gap' in my mind! "This movie didn't give me anything I needed." Oh, Joseph! LOL! That got me! Maybe, this subject matter didn't have an expert on board - but, the writers went ahead with the generic/safer horror genre? Are the writers 'simplifying' this 'issue' of, "as an individual, you're not fitting-in? Even, in "your chosen group" so, here, let us "sort you out" by compartmentalizing everyone further! Liked your views!
The first kill is exactly like original kill in Friday the 13th… a counselor was trying to find her way to camp and killed by unseen person before she gets there…who is a revealed in big surprise at the end. The set up seems very interesting but poorly executed. Has there ever been a serious film on the topic… the camps seem extremely dangerous to a person’s mental and physical health. I had thought the theories had been proven to not work and be harmful.
Watching this review for the first time and Nick saying Cooper Koch should be in a Ryan Murphy production is hilarious since Monsters just came out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah that was really stupid. They are playing mind games with us, but let's have a group sing along, like everyone there knew the words to that song. I would not have had a clue.

3 really good things about this movie, the title They Slash Them play on words, Kevin Bacon (no further explanation necessary and the opening scene. Everything else, mediocre and I hated the dog scene as an animal lover.
The marketing was such, and the camera they chose, and the fact that it was on Peacock all caused me to think this was a TV show or a series. It didn't feel like a movie trailer. It was too succinct and permeated so many UA-cam videos as promos.
The scene at 14:00 was scary, and actually got me shook. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that scene was probably the best one in the movie, and if they ran with that dreadful feeling it might of been a better movie. Sorry to put this what-if into people's head, but imagine if Jordan Peele wrote and directed this movie, and had more of a "Get Out" vibe. Lesbian horror movie What Keeps You Alive is a much better movie. Nothing anti-gay about it. But a married female couple go a cabin in the woods, one wife finds out the other is a homicidal maniac. What's strange about They/Them is the director/screenwriter has written some quality scripts, like Gladiator & Bond movie Skyfall, Penny Dreadful horror series.

I just watched Them/They and I agree that this movie was not great, but, it wasn't bad either. Kevin Bacon and this group of camp instructors start off seeming like they really want to help these gay kids, and seem nice. But, the reality soon sets in that these people are a bunch of sick evil fuks who are obviously enjoying playing mind games with these kids. And there is a scene where the coach and his girlfriend are having sex, while looking at erotic pics of the campers, obviously the coach dude wanting the swimmer bad. I also agree that it should have been the coach who takes advantage of the swimmer as that whole scene would have made more sense. Them using that long haired dude to entice the swimmer seemed stupid to me. I found that very unlikely. I also had a problem with the time frame, where they are going to keep these kids for a week. However, maybe that was not the case at all, and the bigger plan was to abuse these kids long term, only the audience just isn't told what they are planning to do. Like in the movie Boy Erased where he is told his time at the conversion camp won't be long, while they actually planned on keeping him there for years. But thanks to our masked killer, the future planned torture of these kids was put to an abrupt end. As maybe the killer knew more than what we believe this sick people were actually doing. In my opinion it wasn't a great movie. But, it is probably the only movie I ever saw where the people who were killed kinda deserved it. Another scene that kinda made me think that was the blonde wife and the long haired queen all giddy because they succeeded in the torture of the swimmer. I was like, man, I hope they die next. And when they did I was giddy. I actually hoped the non binary camper would shoot Kevin Bacon over that whole dog scene. Who's got broken legs now MF!! I'm sorry trigger, looks like I will have to put you down!! Man, I thought the sickos in prisoners were bad. These people are far worse.
Just wanted to add that I figured out how the killer got into the camp. They never met the lady who was killed on her way there, because she was hired and sent there by another place, and they never met her. So it was easy for the killer to take her place.
I kind of disagreed with both of you and some of your analyses of the film! The believability factor might not have been on point...but the overall 'theme and message' of the film were evident! The 'real horror' of the film was the 'conversion therapy practices' that were orchestrated on the campers! That was a psychological horror in itself rather than the actual 'killings or murders'. As far as the seduction of the 'hot jock'--'Stu' by 'Gabriel'. You guys made a very valid point when referencing some of the 'hot jocks' being attracted to other 'hot jocks'--that either resemble how they want to look like or the masculine types they would like to date or hook up with. But, in the case of that particular scene...the 'hot jock' character--'Stu' was trying to become as 'straight' as his father had wanted him to become...so when he was finally seduced by the 'fem character'--'Gabriel'...I believe 'Stu' was engaging in the sexual act...which in his mind...allowed him to pass as being 'straight'. I believed he secretly fantasized about having a 'feminine' guy as his love interest...which would explain his attraction to 'Toby'--the 'African-American' feminine character toward the end of the film! So the misconception in regards to 'masculine straight-acting gay jocks' wanting or desiring their partners with similar attributes is a negated stereotype in this film. Even the shock-therapy scene in the film was somewhat--right on point! Believe it or not--that was how they used to treat 'queer patients' in real life--by showing them 'naked men or women' depending on their gender--and administrating 'shock-treatment procedures'--in a misguided attempt to convert them to heterosexuality or a straight lifestyle. I also read other critiques about the usage of the song anthem by 'Pink' and how it wasn't a great choice for this horror/thriller/suspenseful film. I disagree with that opinion...because I believe that song was 'F***ing Perfect'--(no pun intended). I can never imagine how 'Jordan' felt when being consulted and evaluated by a bigoted counselor giving her false analysis of who they were as a 'non-binary' person! It must have been a completely dehumanizing and frightening experience in itself! It was only fitting for 'Jordan' to be uplifted, encouraged, and celebrated by her fellow campers...to burst out in this anthem song by 'Pink'-- in support of 'Jordan'! It was very touching and therapeutic--not only just for 'Jordan'--but for the rest of the campers as well. I hated the part of the film where 'Jordan' took out 'Old Duke'--by the way! That was very disturbing for me to process--as well! I need to rewatch that scene again to gather some sort of concluded analysis of 'Jordon's decision' to commit such an unspeakable act! As far as the motive of the antagonistic killer--this is a perfect example of what happens when someone who was a former recipient of conversion therapy--would take it upon themselves to avenge or bring awareness of the consequences and horrors of conversion therapy. In the killer's mind...she believed she was justifiably within her rights to murder those who were responsible for the heinous acts of this illegal practice. She believed she was doing the right thing even at the cost of everything she held dear and the sacrifices that she was willing to take--at the expense of her pride and vengeance. Even though...this film wasn't what some critics and horror fans would have hoped for or wanted it to become...It did--however--introduce a theme or message--which was the horrors of conversion therapy for 'LGBTQ+ Teens' and its detrimental effects on the minds of those individuals who were all along and will always be--simply 'F***ing Perfect' to begin with! Somehow--the overall theme and message of this 'horror film' got lost or completely ignored and overlooked--which is very common among some 'horror-film enthusiasts and critics'--both 'straight' and 'queer' alike. I believe this 'theme and message' was what the screenwriter and director and everyone else who worked to make this film possible--wanted the audience to keep in mind--when watching this film.
Two points in your very good response to the review. I agree that the jock being attracted to the long haired guy was not believable. And, if what you are saying is true, why not go for the black gal, who turns out to be a dude. Or the other fem black male, who you think he is also attracted to. At any rate, I found that these 2 hooking up was very unlikely. Having the coach seduce him would have made more sense, as we see that he is looking at photos of him, while having sex with his would be girlfriend. It just made zero sense. As for the killing of the dog, I think the idea was planted that this dog was going to die anyways, so instead of allowing them to beat the dog, it was put out of its misery. I would have been very happy if Kevin Bacon got shot. Who has bad legs now MF!! Looks like we are going to have to put you down.
The irony that Jordan’s character actually gets misgendered consistently in this video lol Theo Germaine actually uses they/them pronouns. Given the context of the movie, I’d have removed the “she” from the edit
oh... well, thank you for watching this so I don't have to. Too bad though, I really like Kevin Bacon, but this sounds like a failure. I wonder if ... this writer thought well horror is, just horror - and they have this terrifying subject - I have met folks in the industry that think horror is an easy paycheck and easy to do. Which to me is the opposite. So many genres of horror - but good horror - like Night of the Living Dead or Get Out - can really shed a light on the real horrors in life... sorry this is soooooo long LOL

Just wanted to add that I figured out how the killer got into the camp. They never met the lady who was killed on her way there, because she was hired and sent there by another place, and they never met her.
So it was easy for the killer to take her place.
This is one of the funniest reviews I’ve ever seen LOL yeah this movie was a hot mess 🤪
I enjoyed this movie
THIS MOVIE WAS DUMB ASF 🤦♀️
ITS NOT THEY THEM
ITS THEY SLASH THEM
What a wet fart of a horror movie this was
I kind of disagreed with both of you and some of your analyses of the film!
Well said!!!!
Brooo..🤣🤣. Wtf is even this movie😂😂. Great review, yet🤣🤣. I'd watch it just for the laughs from the horrible/campy acting.
I'm let down was wanting campers to get killed 😪 .
Playing it to safe
As not to offend
But killing campers is so trope...at least they went against that 😂
I hated the animal killing part. Why do they always insist on killing animals in horror.
this movie was everything i needed honestly. the primary demographic was literally just me lol.
The irony that Jordan’s character actually gets misgendered consistently in this video lol Theo Germaine actually uses they/them pronouns. Given the context of the movie, I’d have removed the “she” from the edit
Trying to find depth in a slasher is a moot point.
❤❤
I'm sorry but I gotta ask: Why are you wearing a pantyliner on your shirt?
oh... well, thank you for watching this so I don't have to.
