Perhaps a person has to come from a certain era in time to appreciate this song. I think I came from that era. I find this song grows on you. I think it is done differently and it doesn't seem to ever become to tired to listen to.
This is an interesting song in so much one guy is singing monotone while the other one is on key. I have heard this song many times with different artist's but I find this one to be unique as to the way it is sung. It really seems to grow on you, the more you play it, the more you want to.
This scene has to be the Renfro Valley Barndance Barn, you will notice the two "windows" in the loft. If you bring up the barn today, you will see the two windows. Also "Renfro Valley" is painted on the roof. It opened Oct 9, 1937, over radio station WLW, Cincinnati, Ohio.. it was 2d to the Opry.. The cars appear to all be in the '30's. I have always loved this song for it's tune and the lyrics, from days of my childhood. I would listen to the Renfro Valley Barndance in the late '30 and '40's. I have never heard of this group, altho they started out in 1998. The guy on the harmonica comes in loud and clear. I think they do a very unique style on this song, wish they had sung the last verse tho. Like it very much.
this was first song my grandmother ever tried to teach me on a guitar
