You two have a classy well kept boat. Even the engine sounds well maintained.
Hi thanks for the very kind comment, we do try and keep it very tidy and clean. Its a bit like the Forth Road Bridge at times. Michael is great with engine maintenance and always keeps it up to date hence why it sounds sweet. Hope you are enjoying our waterways adventures?
@@cruisingontheborder I do enjoy the videos very much.
What a horrendous time you have had. It is really nice of you to share your lives with all of us. Please take care and stay safe out there.
Hi Judith thanks so much for taking the time to comment we so appreciate it. We will stay safe 💕💕. 🙏🙏
Another gem. I'm on repeat now for a few episodes. Can't wait I'm still in awe at your brave navigation of river, canal weir. In testing conditions.
Thanks Graham, it was a challenging day. Scary when the squall came through... Michael reacted so quickly. Some times you have to know when to stop.
I Michael and Jackic thank you for the lovely country but all
awful weather but theats boating life take care all.the best for now 😊
Thank you x
I love you guys so much, you are such role models for how you should look at life
Thank you Hannah that is a lovely comment. With us what you see is what you get, we are just being ourselves, if sometimes a little silly... x
Well you sure did have an adventurous time, what with changing weather, mud and swans. Not to mention the water levels and debris. I thought for sure it would cause problems for you. I so enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi love the comment 🙏🙏 yes very challenging but that’s one thing we love, a challenge mentally and physically. Life gets more interesting in the coming few videos, even more rain 🫣🫣
Great to see you guys back on the cut. Fab vlog...........
Hi Julie 👋 thanks so much for your lovely comment 😀 it’s great to be cruising albeit in some challenging weather ⛈️⛈️… there’s more to come keep watching 💕
Really bad weather, glad you got through it ok.
Hi John 😀 so pleased you enjoyed. We can’t believe what dreadful cruising weather we’ve had this year. Hopefully the sun will shine soon 🤔
Wellies
Ah ah Debbie, not really the greatest footwear for what we do, not easy to work distances in and certainly Jac couldn't run in them. She does a lot of running and has special runners to support her running style. Thanks for your comment we so appreciate you taking the time to message us. x
Really nice feel to your videos. Love them.
Glad you like them! Great to have you on board. x
I’m exhausted just watching you in that unpredictable weather. Crazy! Thanks for the great video. Cheers.
Hi 💕💕 love the comment it made us smile thank you 🙏. The weather gets even more unpredictable keep watching…..
Ahhh the Great British weather for you, hail, sun, rain , all in one day .... stay safe Jackie and Michael 👍
Hi Jerry.
Yes that day had it all. Looks like summer was a 2 week thing again in England as it certainly changing again now!
Stay safe Jerry. 👍❤️
I have been watching narrowboat vids for years and I have to say that this one was one of the best ones I think I have ever seen. It really shows the down side of narrow boating. Mud, rain and flooding. Thank you for posting.
Hi Gary.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
We do try to show all sides of narrowboat life.
We are not a ‘living my best life’ only channel.
Lots more real life adventures coming up so please stay tuned. 👍❤️
Love Jackie’s hat. Always nice to see a fellow LUFC fan on the cut!
Hi.
We are both MASSIVE Leeds fans!
MOT my friend.
Keep in touch.. what’s our chances of going straight back to prem this season? 👍👍
@@cruisingontheborder I’d like to think we’re in with a chance of going straight back up but we’re way behind the other teams at the moment with the take over delaying things. We’ve lost a few players and not signed anyone yet. We’ve got a decent manager in who knows how to get promoted so see what happens. Fingers crossed…
We’ll be watching my friend! The next few weeks are crucial. Get some good British based players in who know the champ and no more of Orta’s joke signings!! Grrrr so glad he’s gone!
Take care MOT
That's the glory of uk weather 4 season in one day no such thing as wrong weather just wrong clothes 😅
Hi David.
Fortunately I had the correct clothing on but nearly got knocked off the boat with the howling wind.. All in a days boating I guess! 👍❤️
I'm loving the hat Jackie, great choice..
Hi Dave..
Thanks for the great comment.
Hope you liked the video and continue to enjoy our channel ..
MOT!!!!!! 👍👍
Hello Jackie and Michael mick from Hull really enjoyed this episode I can't wait for the next one xx😊😊
Hi Mick
Hope you are keeping well.
Thanks.. we have moved our weekly post from every Wednesday to every Sunday now so look out for our next one next Sunday 👍❤️
Hello Jackie and Michael I will look forward to your next episode xx 😁😁
Love the leeds utd hat ,mot
Ah ah very well spotted.... yes MOT!!
I thought you might be leeds fans with that beautiful smiley hat!,
Love your content, husband looks familiar to me and my time living yorkshire mot
Oh yes Anthony, MOT. So pleased you are enjoying our floating adventures. Keep watching for my fun and games.
About 40 years ago we hired a narrow boat to run on the river around Evesham , Pershore to Eckington. That year we had a huge amount of rain making the river higher and flowing more . We panicked as we approached a bridge. We reduced power to idle and the barge started to drift sideways, it went broadside into the bridge and got stuck. People called out the fire brigade and they winched us off the bridge . The narrow boat was called the " Golden Tiara ", wonder if its still around ? It did not put us off though, we needed a holiday to recover from that holiday
Hello, thanks for story, hope you were all ok after that slightly scary event?? We find we always need to be prepare for anything especially when water is involved. Hope you are enjoying our waterways travels, lots more to come. J&M
Thank you very much for sharing be happy take care
Hi Lilo 💕💕 so pleased you enjoy. Keep watching more challenging weather to come 😀
Always a challenge in poor weather especially if it catches you underway and no suitable spot to moor up. Good idea to reverse out of that last lock to a better mooring spot! Hope you got dried out!
Hi John,
You are right my friend. The weather dictates what we do each day. That said, there’s no such thing as bad weather it’s incorrect clothing! So they say. 👍❤️
The closest to where I live about 5 minutes away towards the end. I wasn't following you then ! if I knew you where there I would of bought you some treats down. I can only apologise for the bad weather and muddy paths. Swan wars nowt to do with me though 😂 Michael from Leicester
Wow Michael thank you it's lovely to think we might of bumped into you. We could off shared a coffee or two, or maybe something a little stronger..... Thanks for all your support (Coffee's) it means a huge amount to us. xx
We just used bones from cooked chicken drum sticks for cray bait. Two or three would do.
Yes we tried that as well, good idea. Do you still catch them??
Time to buy some Wellington boots!
🤣🤣🤣maybe I’ll treat Michael to some 😎. Love the comment Nick thanks 🙏
hi as a new subscrber'ambingt watchuimg your vides and I've got tosaay that I love all oj thrm
Welcome aboard! Great to hear from you. Thanks for your comment.
Hi guys, an exciting but goodness that was a squall.....
I have asked before if you could share each time you post a video when it was actually taken. Maybe not the exact dates but perhaps the month and whether it's first half or latter half. It would really help give everyone a sense of what boating is like at any given time of year. Please 🙂
Hi.
It was indeed a massive squall. The worst we’ve ever had whilst actually cruising and I couldn’t stop the boat as there was nowhere to do so.
We will try give an indication as to when the ep was filmed but we have so much footage as we film constantly almost everyday so we do run behind as we are playing catch up in the edit which takes a huge amount of time as you will appreciate.
Stay safe and hopefully you can continue to enjoy our channel. 👍❤️
It's a portal to the next challenging season. Here where I dwell summers high temperatures are life threatening so we shelter too. Around 17th of July we usually get hit by monsoon with gale force winds and thunder and lightening. Then we enter another portal when the temperature drops slightly and by 1st of November we can wear a jacket. Its all one big adventure. Tunnels, loch narrow gates, barn gates for me and hay presto another portal opens and closes. Stay safe and enjoy the magic. ❤ from Arizona.
Hi Karen wow your weather is so much more challenging than ours 🫣🫣 it sounds totally scary. We’ve got some further storms and a flood coming up so keep watching. Love to Arizona 💕
All I could think of was…. I wonder what kind of heating system they have on board because you surely needed it at that moment. 💨☔️
We have a diesel drip stove, great piece of kit, really easy to use and very warming. Thanks for your comment.
Great episode in tough conditions guys. Think some of those short wellies would be in order for those muddy towpaths😁❤
Hi.
Thanks for your comment.
Short wellies would have saved the day as you say. But I was off the boat and didn’t see the flood until I was on top of it and I had to get through it to open the lock for Jackie. Good job it was me in the mud and not her!! 🤣🤣
I was just wondering about next episode. I’m now in Kalaupapa, HI. Remote and windy here too.😅
Hi
We are very envious of your life in Hawaii.. continue to enjoy life there and also our channel.. if you can drag yourself away from the beach to watch 🤣🤣
there was a swan on the tow path on the kennet and avon once last year and wouldnt let anyone pass , i had my two big dogs with me it even snapped at them its surprising how aggressive swans can be when they want to be and yet other times they arent even bothered
Hi Nathan thanks so much for the comment 👌 yes sometimes they are super aggressive we find it’s normally when they’re are babies involved. Hope your dogs were ok? 😀
@@cruisingontheborder thank you my dogs were fine their both rescues and tough as nails they just looked confused and ignored the swan lol
Another great blog, great fun these muddy towpaths! Was great meeting you this weekend . Did you find the boat that was moored nearer to the boat lift that was selling ice cream Jackie ? We were moored right next to it so I was happy! Julie and Steve from nb Down the Hatch
Hi Julie and Steve 👋 it is as fab meeting the two of you as well. So sorry we didn’t get together for 🥃 or two 😁. Ah Ah yes the ice cream boat…. You know me too well. I was also eyeing up all the magnums at the visitors centre 🤣🤣. So pleased you enjoyed our muddy and wet adventures. Stay safe and see you soon xxx
Swan wars .. mud bath at that lock built in 1916.. seemed quite poignant.. as over on the Somme back in 1916 .. the BEF (British Expedition Force) were up to their waists in mud in the trenches .. my 18 year old grandfather was over there with the 1st Bucks Battalion of the Ox & Bucks light infantry.. going over the top on 17th June 1916 .. being shot twice at very long range by a sniper .. in ankle & chest (which lodged in his wallet stuffed with letters from home) .. other bullet lodged in his ankle.. he was left in no man’s land for 3 days .. having to cut out bullet with his bayonet .. & stuff his hanky in the hole .. by time he was recovered to allied lines gangrene had set in & had to have his left leg amputated below the knee .. was sent back to Blighty for further surgery!
Woah David
What a story about your grandfather!
The misery and fear those boys (and they were boys) went through for our country is beyond belief. We can’t begin to thank people like your dear grandfather enough but at least you and us will never forget!
Take care David and thank you so much for sharing that story. 👍❤️
The swan was asking for food
Hi George yes they were. We feed all that come to the duck hatch… we’re always amazed they know where it is and are waiting 🦆 🦢 🪿 💕💕💕
@@cruisingontheborder animals aren’t stupid 😁
LOL. Chinese buffets here often have crayfish( crawdads) on the buffet. Personally I’d rather have that nice tin of sardines. 😊
Hi.
We love the crayfish but I guess they are not for everyone. It’s free food to us so why not. I suppose we have to offset the price of the sardine bait but it’s good fun.
Take care and thanks for your comment. 👍❤️
70 footer in a gale no problems and i havent got a "girlie button"😂....but in all fairness if ya dont feel confident enough you did the right thing, after all whos in a rush👍
Hi Love you comment, no 'girlie' button eh. Suppose it's like not having an automatic car now isn't it. Definitely not a confidence thing with either of us. But yep you make a great point about we're not in a rush, it's such a slower pace of life, we love it. Hope you are enjoying the rest of the channel.
@cruisingontheborder it's the fastest way to slow down👍
Keep the vlogs going as i enjoy them plus you guys make me smile on down days😁
Lol jaq I think the swan was after the crayfish 😊 were did you get the net from Michael can you get on line ps now the water flow will settle down give jaq a treat make her a chicken tikka m8 all the best John 😊
Hi John..
I just need to include chocolate and magnums into my chicken tandoori and I’ve cracked it!! 🤣🤣
You can get the Crayfish net from
www.fishkit.co.uk/collections/crayfish-traps/products/collapsible-mesh-crayfish-trap
Thanks for the info Michael God bless you both keep on sailing John
That care John. 👍❤️
You need some Wellies.
Winter cruising demands ankle wellies, one size too big. This allows easy on and off so you don’t drag the mud aboard. 15 years living aboard and constantly cruising teaches one a few tips. Capt John
Hi Captain John, great tip yes the mud can get the better of us sometimes....
Poundland? I do hope you are both well.
Hi again Francis.
Not sure what you mean in ‘Poundland’ ?
I’m sure it’s just us being a bit daft?
👍❤️
@@cruisingontheborder oh, sorry Jackie. It was a simple play on words. Ie you were dealing with so many water pounds, the word Poundland came to mind. Its a budget store chain (if you don’t know). It’s me being daft not you. X
Ah thanks Francis.
A bit too criptic for our simple minds.. 🤣🤣
i didn't think you could trap and eat crayfish? i thought they were protected?
No they are an invasive species if you catch them it’s illegal to put them back. Thanks for dropping us a comment 😀😀
Michael? I think you might, just MIGHT mind you, want to invest in a pair of gummy deck-boots...Just a thought, don't mind me.
Great idea 💕💕
You two are what you get when you order Walter White and Julia Roberts from Wish.
We'll take that as a compliment!! Ha ha.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦,
Hi.
Thank you 👍❤️
I thought you were busting for the toilet.
Hi Alf.
That’s a good one! Like it.. when a man of my age needs to go he needs to go!
🤣🤣👍❤️
Drama at 4mph.
Ha ha yes always is. Thanks for your comment.
Great video …. It’s been very iffy around Wistow this winter last? I found this at Wistow whilst on a lunch break …ua-cam.com/video/xZnnQpFwMtY/v-deo.html
Hi.
Wistow was indeed a swamp when we were there. Take care 👍❤️
@@cruisingontheborder there was also one of those dreadful wide-beams Jack knifed near ‘the gap’ just before Glen Aqueduct near the start of your video …
… that was an experience, mooring it up again… the owner no-where to be found ? Imagine your home stranded off the towpath… ?
