In the question we are subtracting (-9x + y + 7y)
Subtracting -9x is the same as adding 9x
Does that help?

It's possible that you might be asked to just simplify an algebra expression. However, it's more likely that you will need to apply the techniques covered in this lesson as you solve a more complex question on the GRE.
