I live in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. I have one of these although maybe a bit more "Salty". I never knew about the Milsco thing though. I do believe they were also worn bt the Dutch in Surinam which was a tropical dutch colony at the time.
I love these helmets , I got 1 knil helmet and 5 Normal m34 helmets with lion plate ! My great grandfather served KNIl (sergeant major) Thanks for uploading !
Since Indonesia is right on the border between South-Pacfic and the Indian Ocean, i had to fight hard, not to leave a nitpicky Geographie comment. But then i lost.
Ho there, great videos! Do you know if the M27 was used in the battle for the Netherlands in 1940? Or had the M34s replaced them all by that time? Cheers!
that do you think about those helmet restoration videos where they completly repaint helmets and make them look brand new? i just find them painfull to watch
Meh, it's their property, but collectors will know it was restored and it doesn't make it worth more. That's why it pays as a non-experienced collector to watch vids like this so you know what an original looks like. I will be making videos on how to tell restoration projects from originals at some point. Some are harder to tell from others, but there are always signs.
I wil list the icons for people Landmacht (land force) the Lion Marines anchor Knil lion or nothing Navy nothing Air defense LBD Air force nothing Resistance dutch flag or orange triangle
Cool you covered this! Apart from this helmet the Dutch KNIL troops also had the bamboo hat, which looked like the Australian slouche hat.
hey, niet verwacht jou hier tegen te komen, Gave video’s!
@@krijgsgeweld6324Ik had ook niet verwacht 😂

The Dutch sold helmets to the Romanians in the interbellum.
Thank you for existing
Hey cool! I didn't expect to see something from my country on your vids, thanks! Hope you and your family are well!
I can already tell this will be a great vid.

Ur grandfather invade Indonesia
@@juanditoooo Indonesia has never been invaded....except possibly by Java.
The pronounciation for KNIL is "Kay-Kneel". We Indonesians had a hard time saying K-N-I-L too so that's generally how most people say it 😂
Hey I'm Indonesian kinda cool video dude
Great video Mike!
Awesome!

Additional info: The Indonesian pronunciation of KNIL is like "Kneel" but the K is vividly pronounced

Both were used. Thanks for watching!
Hey Mike! I have a question, for someone trying to replicate a USMC Vietnam helmet, what helmet band should I use?
Many old photos ive seen that KNIL using this helmets but with thicker rear flap. Its looks like made of leather isnt it?
It is leather.....And this is 100% in original condition...so I don't know what you're trying to prove...

Are there by chance you found KNIL helmets with Indonesian markings?
That is actually a very good question.
Not to sound like a Jew but how much are they worth
Atleast more than 2 quid
You can actually just pronounce it like "Kill" "KNIL"
