They are an EXTRAORDINARILY well-practiced band. It's clear they take the career aspect of being entertainers seriously, while also having fun. They respect their audience, and make it so easy to be a fan.
I went to see Band-Maid live at St Andrews Hall in Detroit in 2023. I was about ten feet in front of Kanami Tono and witnessing her solo in "Daydreaming" was amazing. Kanami is a master at communicating mood and emotion through her compositions. She reads - a lot - and she often reads books on psychology. It's almost funny, but their management was trying to steer Kanami and Akane into an acoustic group, move Miku and Saiki into a singing, dancing duo, and had no plans for Misa. They were giving Band-Maid a 'last chance' single of an acoustic love song to see if they could chart and scheduled a video shoot for it. The single wasn't charting and management decided to dissolve Band-Maid before the video was shot. When the Maids showed up at the shoot they decided they'd rather do a video with the single's B-Side, "Thrill", as it was hard rock, and what they really wanted Band-Maid to be. "Thrill" went viral and saved them from being dissolved. Years later they did their 2020 Christmas Acoustic concert, giving some credence to their old management's opinion that they should "Go Acoustic", but this really shows that Band-Maid has the talent to go whatever direction they choose. When Band-Maid found out how close they had come to being dropped, they took measures to ensure that didn't happen: they incorporated the group and worked toward self-management, which officially happened on Sept. 25, 2024, under MAID-IT co, LTD and on the the same day the 'Epic narratives' album released.
A lot of thier acoustic versions of their songs gives it a whole new vibe. After 3 years listening to everything they have to offer, for me they are the best band ever, and I am 55 and have heard a lot of music.
Great to see you getting into them more. Band-Maid need more girls/women in their fanbase cos us old guys are nearing our best before end date. Great reaction, look forward to your next new favourite.
"Daydreaming" is a great song, and this acoustic performance is special. You're right, a group of very lucky fans got to witness it live. Thanks for the reaction!
Hello again...another Kanami masterpiece performed flawlessly!!!!!!!! I think you would really enjoy "Wonderland" Live. Saiki's vocals are off the charts !!!!!
So glad to see you getting into Band Maid. Since the beginning I've felt that more young women should be discovering them. Not only for the music but because these are some of the strongest young women I have ever seen. From the start they have followed what could have been an impossible dream, but they have never let anything stop them from achieving their goals. Just great examples of strength of character so desperately needed now.
I agree, more young women need to know about them! They are a good example of strong women! Amazing musicians to look up to :) growing up I dreamed of being in a band one day. Needed influences like these girls in my life!
Saiki (lead vocals) has only just learnt to play the piano- taught by the genius Kanami (Lead Guitar). This is the second main acoustic show that they have performed, every song totally re-arranged by Kanami, who also sung backing vocals on this song. No problem- The fantastic Band-Maid are always making their fans shed tears. There is also Puzzle and Anemone Official Live video from Zepp Tokyo 2018- Just a Saiki and Kanami duo. These are really special. Also check out Smile from the acoustic Official Live Video from 11 Feb (my birthday) 2021. Loved your reaction- Thanks (UK). Okyu-ji= Concert/Serving.
Really enjoying your reaction and also the ones with your husband. Daydreaming is forever in my top 10 ( i might have to change it to top 20 now with all their new music coming out lol). I remember a regular BM reactor admitting he went back into his and played Daydreaming on a loop for another 3 or 4 times. I don't remember his name but it was not Mr. Rock and Roll. LOL
The live version you have chosen is the accoustic one from2024 and it was the very first time Band-Maid was ever playing as a 5 instruments band with singer Saiki on the piano.
If you're into the softer side of BAND-MAID also check out 'Before Yesterday', Memorable' and the acoustic version of 'Puzzle' and 'Choose Me' that last one is just Saiki on piano. Probably the best of all is the LIVE version of 'Endless Story' which was the last song of the 10 Year Anniversary Tour finale at Yokohama Arena, and their Love Letter to fans after The COVID Clampdown, 'About Us'.
Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, The One, Anemone, Endless Story, Memorable, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile -- an unbelievable range of mid-tempo songs from the greatest hard rock band on the planet - Band-Maid. "Daydreaming," "YOLO," "Puzzle,” and a host of others are world-class masterpieces. Although I love Daydreaming just the way it is and believe it may be Band-Maid's best composed and overall accessible song, I've always wondered if it was sung in English, how deep in the international market Daydreaming would have traveled...? It'll be interesting to see if Bestie (sung in English) hits new markets. Oh well, I'll stop daydreaming now. Thx Nicole, for another great Band-Maid reaction!
They are really special. In music video they are all made to look 120% beautiful, but Misa, Saiki and Kanami can be quite awkward off stage. Live is where they can truly express themselves ❤.
Softer songs….Band Maid has more than enough for whole big album (+)….. I believe some already mentioned a few, here some PAGE, AT THE DROP OF A HAT, MIRAGE, WONDERLAND, FORWARD, BESTIE, ……..START OVER😊
Nice react Nicole & cool way to do it with the two contrasting versions of an absolute rock ballad classic. Not only are Band-Maid masters at songwriting, they are also masters at arrangement. All of the acoustic versions are fresh and different. Zen is more up-tempo, but still catchy and engaging rock with all the bells and whistles Band-Maid tends to include in their songs. It's an OP for a big anime, but that's meaningless to Band-Maid. They always make it work as a standalone song.
Great reaction and Daydreaming is such a great song and the acoustic version with Saiki playing piano, is a totally different feel. Saiki only started playing piano around 3 or 4 years ago and has been getting better and this is only the second time that she's played live, the first time was during their Nov. 2023 10th year anniversary concert. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.
Thank you Nicole for reacting to their song “Daydreaming”. I’ve never seen or heard the acoustic version before and found myself getting a little emotional. Just a heads up, be careful choosing videos that are not from their official UA-cam channel as you could get a copyright strike against you and have the video removed.
That acoustic concert in 2024 was only the 2nd time Saiki-san played the keyboard in a public/concert setting. She is not a professional player yet like Kanami-san (lead guitarist) is.
Prochaine chanson Memorable ?
They are an EXTRAORDINARILY well-practiced band. It's clear they take the career aspect of being entertainers seriously, while also having fun. They respect their audience, and make it so easy to be a fan.
When these ladies sit down and decide to do something, its always 110%

They are a magical band greater than the sum of their parts. I've never heard a band before where each member is irreplaceable.

Awesome! Will definitely listen to more of the acoustic performances.
Great to see you getting into them more. Band-Maid need more girls/women in their fanbase cos us old guys are nearing our best before end date. Great reaction, look forward to your next new favourite.
Thanks!
This is the best version of it live without question

Wonderland, Page, Mirage...there are more.
I really love the studio version of Anenome. It gets overlooked.
That breakdown steals my soul, Kanami the little heart thief...

Although I love Band-Maid when they really rock, Daydreaming is definitely right up there in my favourites, maybe even number 1. Great reaction.
Thank you!

Zen is the newest as of right now ❤
The newest band-maid's song is Zen. It's faster...like influencer, play, etc. Band-maid play really fast normally.
Beautiful. Thanks Nicole🎉
Its No.1 for me,when it comes to Band Maid its a hard Choice to Choose.
