    I don't believe rye is a nitrogen fixer. But it is a great soil builder and cover crop

      @TheRabbitryCenter  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for commenting,
      I’m referring to crimping rye grain and not rye grass. Although Rye is known for scavenging nitrogen it will also leave nitrogen for the following crop If you crimp it in the later stage(it’s best to wait until anthesis, or pollen shed in late may-Mid June) the rye will release nitrogen back into the soil through the decomposition of plant residues.

    So feeding rabbits with Round Up ? Not for me thank you

      Thanks for commenting. You may have misunderstood what I said. I don't feed sprayed or treated anything. this is to terminate and remove once the rye is done.

      Be very careful Bobby that stuff has been definitely linked to cancer and àutoimmune dysfunction. Make sure you are super protected.

    Hey Bobby great video. I have a question. When processing older rabbits, is there any use for the extra fat that is on them. I'm talking about using it like you do pork or being fat. For things like cooking, oil candles, lubricant, And so forth?

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  8 місяців тому

      Absolutely you can use rabbit fat for other dishes, the same way you would use other fats. You can even use it to make lard.
      Some traditional medicines have used rabbit fat to make skin balms and salves too. (Something I haven’t tried yet…).
      That said, a majority of our rabbits are getting processed at approximately 10 weeks and have zero fat on them, but when processing a breeder or senior rabbit, you’ll have an opportunity to collect some Rabbit fat.
      Best of luck and thanks for asking!

      @TheRabbitryCenter Thank you Bobby. I have 6 rabbits that I'm growing out to try my hand at tanning hides, so I was wondering if I could use the fat for anything. I really do enjoy your channel.

    Hi Bobby,
    I kown that this video is about Chilli but could I ask how to reduce the wieght in a doe. I have tried to reduce her weight by halving her pettet food. Any suggestions. I have mated her up 5 times no success. Both the buck and her have produced litters.

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  8 місяців тому +1

      Sounds like you’re on the right track. After cutting back, her feed portions, try to allow her a little more exercise in a coop, or safe enclosed area this will help her burn more calories and slim down. your buck has to avoid over heating to prevent infertility( regular exposure to 90F and above with no relief can cause this). Any trouble achieving fall offs, Be sure to watch the Rabbitry center table breeding video. best of luck!
