In this video, we'll demonstrate how to set up a wireless mobile DJ rig with Dani, Soundboks 4 and Death From Below subwoofers. SKAA wireless is the ultimate way to bring your rig to any gig, anywhere, even in remote locations where you don't have access to power. We also explore some alternative configurations for different applications, how to incorporate headphones, and how to convert your existing wired system into a wireless system. Enjoy! Looking forward to my DFB Subs, what advantages does the SoundBoks Gen 4 have over the Gen 3 when it comes to using it with the DFB subs. The Gen 3 is sinificantly discounted and I am torn between these options
I have two soundboks 4 and want 1 dfb. Do I need a dani transmitter? I use the soundboks with xlr , out of my dj controller. Can I connect the dfb to the soundboks 4 without a dani? And ps. Will you make a video where you can test the sound ? 😉 I would love to know how much bass it adds
Yes there is a way to do that with Clusters. You make one of the Sounboks a SKAA "Hub" and then the hub can send wireless audio over to the DFB "satellite". Although, the DFB itself does not have any analog audio inputs, so no way to plugin XLR or TRS directly to the DFB. I'll be making a new updated video on clusters very soon!
@@SKAAsound this is good to know, but it would be very slick to have XLR in on the DFB. Wireless isn't my main goal, battery powered/mobile is my #1 desire w/ ultra low latency (XLR)
@SKAAsound dumb question: why wouldn't I just use a single transmitter and route the through directly into the soundbok? would that create like an offset in latency between speak and sub?
You could do that do if you wanted to, you'd just be requiring 2 extra cable runs. For a fully wireless setup you could daisy chain two Danis with the Thrus, but by all means if you're trying to save some money on Transmitters, you could totally take the Thrus straight to the soundboks with a cable, and then use 1 Dani in SKAA Pro mode for the DFBs. Just make sure you have the inputs set to 'line input' on the Soundboks App for each Soundboks Speaker. My suggestion if you use it that way is to set the time delay setting on your DFBs to the "zero" mode (No LED). This adds no latency; whereas modes 4 and 5 are recommended for using SB4 wirelessly. The Zero LED setting is the default setting anyway.
For $100 more you'll get a better speaker with Soundboks. More road durable. 2 XLR inputs instead of 1. SB also has two 10-inch drivers as opposed to only one 8-inch like the Alpha Theta has. So I'm assuming you'll get more sound output. Better battery life on the Soundboks as well.
I believe that soundboks speakers sound quieter and have less quality through the XLR vs Bluetooth. At least that’s what im experiencing with my soundboks 4. I’m hoping the Dani will fix this issue.
If you don't want to use a SKAA transmitter you have options. (1) you can run a wired signal over to Soundboks via the XLR inputs. Then put Soundboks in HOST mode, fire up your DFB and DFB will bond to Soundboks with SKAA. or (2) you can send audio to Soundboks over Bluetooth, and repeat the process. This is called SKAA Nadja and it allows you to create your own SKAA wireless audio networks. The Soundboks in HOST mode functions as a SKAA Nadja hub transmitter.
Id like to see à set up review that features ...8 subs... 2 subs per each soundboks 4..4 stacks. Is soundboks and dfb sub going to make larger speakers.... 130db output minimum.?
@@SKAAsound This is my first exposure to SKAA....it has me very curious, I would like to see more in the wild / in the field video.... What price points area available for larger turnkey wireless systems? 8 subs... 2 subs per each soundboks 4..4 stacks. entire system in stereo with two extra sets of batteries for each speaker.... one speaker stack per corner of a room. how are multiple subs stacked on top of each other and secured so they dont move? How long do all the batteries take to charge?
Ok I thought if I used an XLR cable I could plug my Sounboks 4 XLR Channel 1 into a 15" Rockville subwoofer XLR Left output. It's not working, any ideas?
You should be able to. The Soundboks can accept line levels and microphone level signals, but you might need to download the Soundboks app and connect to it over bluetooth temporarily, then change the input setting from Microphone to Line. I'm thinking the signal coming out of your sub is line level.
I hope they put the Dani unit in a Dj mixer. This way you just turn on the mixer and it connects to the speaker or receiver automatically. Less set up😁💪🏽 it’s very possible because the pioneer A9 mixer sends Bluetooth!
I have had no issues when I took them on the road and set up in the wild. The DFB has a really wide "stance" so as long as you're not leaning on the stack, you should be fine.

Are you going to sell a backpack to put the subwoofer? This would be super helpful !
That would be an awkward look

Yea you can connect straight wired in but it defeats the purpose of a wireless system 🤷🏾♂️

Nice set up! I just did a review on Onmis Duo and I mention the Skaa transmitter and receiver in it as an alternative.
What's the latency on the Omnis?
hello nice video! why not alpha teta portable speaker?

Inwould assume that Pioneer/ Alpha Theta would use the technology that’s in the wave 8. Great idea for sure though.
