I appreciate the fact that you'll do an updated review when a plane is updated. I've held out on this model but may get it soon now. I noticed on Discord, you found a few bugs that remain. But the price is not that high and the frame rate issue appears to have been fixed.
Good to see it updated. One thing that makes it impossible for me to fly is that high pitch sound that this plane has, it drives me insane, no matter how low i set the sound that still gets through. Else glad to see Carenade updating. Just really wish they would more actively communicate on the MFS forums. Their radio silence made it feel like near abandonware.
I like flying this one in the sim it's versatile in what it can do and good fun to hand fly on sight seeing tours through the mountains. Love Carenado planes might not have the systems detail but still decent enough and look great.
Thanks for doing this video. I've been looking to get this plane since the update and this was very helpful. Here's a minor detail you may not have been aware of. Since FL180 is the lowest flight level in the U.S., it's unusable when the sea level pressure is less than 29.92 because it will have less than 1000 ft separation from 17000 ft. In that case, 190 is the lowest usable flight level. Your flight was technically illegal and the FAA may decide to take action against your sim ticket. I advise you to seek legal counsel.
You didn't forget to arm the 15k altitude. You did it, but then switched to VS mode, which is a separate & mutually exclusive mode on those quirky KAS units. Once you've pressed ARM to set your altitude target, you then need to press in on the knob and adjust your climb rate, because pressing ARM also enables its own VS (which is not enunciated separately on the screen). If you press ENG it cancels the ARM/CAPT mode and enables VS mode to climb/descend with no target. I read the real-life documentation for those KAP & KAS units and it seems Carenado haven't implemented them totally correctly in the sim, because that's not the way it's supposed to work. They use the same unit in other planes, like their Bonanza V-Tail, which I do really like, but has these type of Carenado quirks. Just make sure the screen says ARM on it still if you hope to have an altitue target.
Good to know - thankyou. I suspect that's more of a Carenado quirk than something in the real aircraft. This was really just a frame rate test anyway :)
They have fixed the engine and fuel display issues. You do get the full display but you have to switch the Novavg off in the setting Expermental it's on by default do this before loading the aircraft. You do get a drop in frames but all the displays so up correct I am probably telling you something you already know but just in case. Also really enjoying the content you are doing very good a well presented for me the presentation is key and yours is top notch.
You also have to turn up the panel light on the left, which wasn’t the case previously (and that only affects the digital instrument panel). It’s a shame I had to find out about both the NOVAVG and the panel light from forums as Carenado were of no help whatsoever. It’s a nice aircraft and flies well, just the niggling issue of the fuel and oil gauges not working. They’re aren’t still fully fixed though as you need to turn off the NOVAVG each time you restart MSFS.
@@LordRoxy yes you are correct I put in a bug report to Carenado about this I found out about this the way It's a shame it has good potential just wish they would fix it and give me a time line when a fix will be done they are blaming drivers for the issue
I don't see it updated with the Engine gauges power bars going up, or down. If you want to see those, you will have to roll back your Windows Update. They need to update those power bars from the engine gauges into the new Windows update.
Hi Jonathan, just watched your video and I was amazed that your Framerate is apparently constant. A friend of mine and myself also bought the PC-12 in February 2023 and have major problems with this device, when we have flown for half an hour the frame rate quickly drops to 8 or 9 frame rates and you can actually go there no more flying. We both have a Ryzen 9 5700 processor and an RTX 3080 and an RTX 4090 video card. We have carried out various tweaks of the FS2020 ers, but unfortunately we are not getting any further.
Nice video. Like it lots. Did you set your pressurization? Also, you can see the eta using the lower gos unit (what're it's called. Under the gtn). Select flight plan then scroll down to the end. I be like to climb using IAS after clearing objects. You can change the orientation of that lower unit clicking the first button on the right side
Hi Jonathon - after watching most of your videos and appreciating the quality of the production, it's clear that you know your way around OBS Studio. Could I request a slightly off topic video where you share your OBS settings (not a full OBS tutorial) - or if not, perhaps you could point to the main source which helped you figure things out? There are so many OBS tutorials on UA-cam and yet so little consistency when it comes to the basic setup. Cheers... 😊
I notice that the avidyne system still causes stuttering. Not all the time though, since i did two flights that were smooth as silk, but doing another one currently where I had to turn avdyne off.
Weather radar doesn't display clouds. Only precipitation. The Avidyne is displaying as it should. Also, you should have looked into the approaches at KTEX. You're really not supposed to approach over the mountains. They have several approaches you can use that are appropriate.
I bought this as a few people were saying it worked sadly though my fps bottomed out to 4 on first flight avidyne was turned off was nice for the time it worked
It worries me to see their EADI and EHSI running at a lower rate than your sim. It reminds me of the FSX gauges. Not too good when hand flying on instruments. Edit: I just saw another video with more fluid EADI/EHSI. I think it may be tied to your glass cockpit refresh rate sim setting after all.
I haven't watched the whole video yet.... but one thing you might want to check is when changing from NAV1 to NAV2 (or VOR1 to VOR2) on the controls, it gets stuck on VOR2. You can only change it once from VOR1 to VOR2, but after that you can't change it back to VOR2, which is unfortunate since I love flying in and out of radials using VORs.... just FYI.
@@jonbeckett they introduce a bunch of them.... I also tried to use the OBS Mode, it messes up a bunch of things with the HSI and autopilot stuff, not sure if that's directly related with the plane or with the update on the 530

Exactly! And those are the easiest frequencies to get muffled in an aircraft's interior. So I don't think it's realistic at all.

I only have the PMS GTN 750 free version (which is broken at the moment).
