    What i enjoy is that I learn about the differences between the different versions and different manufacturers and your videos are very good quality and they give me confidence to do similar jobs in my n scale collection which I have had for years. thank you do very much

    Very nice , I used the grease on an atlas/riverossi Mikado and the difference in noise was amazing.

    Motor bearings are dry. I bought a couple Kato GP30's that were new old stock, and they had that same squall.
    So after careful cleaning and relubrication, and some break in run time, they were beautiful.

    I have the same locomotive, in SP paint, with the same problem, though not as loud. Will attempt to do what you demonstrated. Thanks.

    It's always nice when you can save an engine. Great video.

    This is the model that brought me into US railroading more than 25 years ago.
    I have both engine numbers in their original boxes.

    N scale Kato and Atlas locomotives seem to be the same assembly.

    Really nice. You could probley dcc this train with a tcs cn decoder its fits were the ld boards are, but you would need to do some soldering for the motor

      I used that one for a1995 Atlas GP7 I bought, and it was a struggle getting it to work right at first because it didn't want to fit tightly into the body, and if only the rear board gets power, the motor just runs full speed in reverse. Works pretty good now though

    Just great, your knowledge and skill are superb but your melodic voice and speech patterns make me think you should read audio books. Keep those videos coming, Thanks!

    Thanks, great video! I tried installing a decoder in one of the old Kato locomotives with Blue box. It worked for a short time only, then there was a short cut and I believe the decoder is gone now. Yes agree, can be questioned if it is worth to make old Kato locos run with DCC. Too bad, I have many old Kato locos though…

    Did not know blue boxes identifies a Loco with rapido couplers. Who knew?? Thanks, so much knowledge, you should write a book. Thanks again!!

      I might I just did a old PA1 put the decoder in the gas tank used TCS MC2 I posted it in Budget Model trains group. I don’t post on UA-cam but I watch all of your videos you do a great job. It took me about 5 hours to do had to cut out a lot of metal in the gas tank left just enough to hold it on cut some notches in both sides of the bottom half’s to feed the wires and one slit across the front top frame for the headlight use the old bulb.

      This should work. If not the little bearing block are still available as parts.

    You mention how you prefer your flanges tight. Is that tight to the INSIDE of the gauge or to the OUTSIDE?

    • @watchtrainsnow1099
      @watchtrainsnow1099  2 роки тому +1

      To the inside, the wheels are wider than the real train. Being a little loose helps them on curves.

    Can anyone tell me why my Atlas n scale loco slows down when making right hand turns? Goes great when going left hand turns, straight, and backwards. I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks!

    • @watchtrainsnow1099
      @watchtrainsnow1099  Рік тому

      You can try flipping the trucks around 180 degrees. Maybe it helps? Or put the back one to the front. Try that and let me know it it helps.

    • @ericklemm7430
      @ericklemm7430 Рік тому

      @@watchtrainsnow1099 ok I did that and switched them around and nothing helped. I switched trucks on another locomotive and it ran the same with the trucks on another loco. I just ordered new trucks and will see if that takes care of the problem. Thanks!
